Lauren in San Diego here (5'11'').  I was up to almost 180 lbs at the end of last year and I lost about 10 pounds during Jan-Feb and then got lazy.  I need to get back on the wagon.  I think I weigh around 170 and I would like to be 150.  Weigh in on Fridays for me starting tomorrow.  I would love to chat with others who have similar stats and goals to stay motivated.  All my girlfriends are little petites, I need some amazon love!!

Let's look hot and healthy this summer!!!

Dance like a crazy person for the whole weekend that'd be my tip (serious cal burning), just enjoy yourself anyway, maybe mix clear spirits (vodka, gin, rum) with diet soda drinks if your looking for low cals and try to eat fibre for breakfast that will fill you up for your days (keeping fat low) of partying ahead, dont worry about the diet too much, theres not much point being thin if you cant go out and have fun!! thats what I always say anyway!

Hello tall ladies! This group is a GREAT idea! I'm 24 years old, 5'10" and currently 148.6 lbs. At my heaviest about 3 years ago I was 173. I started eating right and going to the gym and managed to get down the high 150's after 6-9 months. I stopped weighing myself at that point and thought I had leveled off but I bought myself a scale in January and found out that I was actually 152lbs! I joined CC not necessarily to change my diet but to make sure my day to day choices were healthy ones. My dream goal would be to hit 140 because I have NO idea the last time I weighed that much but I'd be happy staying right at 145. Right now I'm all about getting this body into shape. I'm not at all a runner but have managed to somewhat consistently run 3+ miles at a time. I try to use free weights in the gym to work on my arms and go to fitness classes, even basic yoga classes.

I think tall people definitely don't get the instant gratification that short girls do! losing 5 pounds does not mean going down a pant size. The good news is I think we carry our weight better. Someone the other day guessed I weighed in the mid 120's... I had to hold back the laughter!!

Friday weigh-in 165lbs

Heh! Down 2 pounds from last week.

Hello!

This is great... its so hard to find tall ladies and most all of you seem around my weight size.  178lbs. I fluctuate about 5 lbs. easily up or down.  Goal weight in the 150s.  Mostly want to turn my 44 inch hips into 38 inch hips.  Current measurements 40.29.44.  Sometimes I feel the weights never gonna budge.  Need motivation!

Hi Everyone - I missed Friday weigh-in since I had the day off.  We had company all weekend, too, which is always perilous to my 'eating well' program.  I'm up about 3 lbs, but it's right before TTOTM so I think that's part of it.  Had a great weekend, though.  A friend visited and we treated ourselves to a fabulous mani/pedi with a massages.  Time to hit it hard and get back on program now.  Have a good week!

Hi!  I SO want to join this group.  I've been around but had no idea how to find you gals!  I am older than most...35...5'10 and SW 178  CW 174  GW 150.

I just joined the gym and went today...love lifting weights...especially killer lunges ..they make me cry...and am going to try a modified HIIT running deal in the a.m. and see if I can hack it.  I wear sz 10 shoe and have no problems finding them.  Sz 11 must be harder.  What about tall tops?  Except for Eddie Bauer I can't find any...and the sleeves are always too short on normal sizes.

Welcome newcomers!

General question, what are your BMR's and daily caloric intake?

I'm 5'11", 165lbs, BMR around 1550, daily burn (without exercise) 2090. I've been averaging about 1600 calories lately and seems to be working. I do worry about eating too little or too much, but it's so difficult to get advice from average height people.

Hi guys, well i think this is a great idea for a group, I'm 5'10 and either 139-140lbs, i dont really ahve 20 pounds to lose but I'd like to get down to 133lbs, my goal for 1st June (this weekend!!)was 139lbs and my other mini goal is 135 for my bday June 29th so I need motivation to keep it up. Skookum, to answer your question, I burn 2010 cals a day at rest, but I aim to burn 2600 4-5days a week, I vary my cal intake throughout the week, it ranges between 1200-1600, I've been zigzagging my cals a couple of weeks now and find it fits in well to my lifestyle as I always have more cals at weekends, but it is tough to stick to 1200 a couple of days. Im finding it hard to lower my carb intake and up my protein as I dont really eat much meat, love fish and chicken though if anyone has any low cal suggestions that include those that'd be great!!

Good Morning!

I just checked in on the scale at 176.5.  So, the weight is very slowly dropping.  I do exercise all the time and try to eat right - trying to stick to WW points.

To answer the BMR questions.... My BMR is 1634 and RMR is 1626.  I dont know my calorie intake maybe around 1400-1800 I guess it depends on my day.

I sound like emberjem, Im 25 , size 10-12 and foot size 10-11 but I can never find shoes in my size!  And forget about clothes being long enough.  My inseam is 33.5 Just long enough that regulars are too short and talls are too long.  And my waist is 15 inches smaller than my hips so shirts and pants never fit correctly.  Sometimes it is sooo frustrating being 5'10.  Funny, someone this morning at work asked if I ever modeled just because Im tall and walk straight?????? Being tall becomes such a stereotype.

Hi tall ladies,

I would like to join your group if that's okay. But it looks like I might be the oldest and tallest one here so far. I'm 53 years old and 6' tall or as my husband prefers to say 5' 12" (he's 5'10") :-) I'm new to CC and weighed 204 when I started just 4 days ago. This morning I weighed 199. I think most of that loss is just water weight but I did make a drastic diet and exercise change. I'm eating healthy now and actually exercising every day for the first time in almost a year.

My goal weight is 165. I haven't been that small since I was in my 40's. And at that time, my goal weight was more like 150. I'm not sure what would be best for me at my age. When I was 20, I weighed only 140 and looked great. But I think that would be way too thin for me now. But for now, I'll be happy to reach anything below 170.

skookum-my daily burn is 1900 and I'm supposed to intake about 1400 calories daily to get to my goal.  BMR I don't know how to calculate.

Today I weighed in at 173.5 which is "healthy" range.  Although as everyone knows distribution means more than scale.  I carry all my 20 extra lbs in the space btwn my belly and upper thighs.  Wish it was more evenly distributed!

Welcome midwife!  Hard to know what weight is right til you get there, huh?

amarie- clothes are so frustrating!  And forget dresses.  The waists of normal dresses hit me about 2-3 inches too high...looking all disproportionate.  Ah well that's why there are skirts.

I'm glad to see we're attacting more people.  And not that I usually advertise it, but I'm 40 (I usually let people think I'm 33-35  Cool).  I think we've got a lot of variety on age here.  I tracked my calories when I first started on CC in Dec/Jan.  Now I only use it to record my progress and read the forums.  When I was counting my calories were usually 1200 - 1700 (I sort of zig zag depending on activity).  The final challenge for me is to exercise frequently, which it looks like a lot of you do.  I'll use that as inspiration!  So far ~23 lbs lost with less than 20 to go (GW is ~155, which I haven't been in 13+ yrs).  I just started acupuncture, too, which should help control stress and in turn help me to find the time to exercise.

I like a 33' (or more) inseam.  Dillards has 'talls' in a lot of styles.  My new favorites are 33" Ralph Lauren jeans I found there.  I use LL Bean, Lands End and TravelSmith since they offer some talls.  I'm also expert at hemming.  I look for pants with a big hem that I can let out.  It's a pain, but like I have a choice....  Size 10 in shoes.  I get a lot of shoes online since stores tend to run out of 10s quickly.  It's all trial and error.

My newest pet peeve is sizing irregularities.  Since I've lost weight it's really hard to find things that fit without spending a LOT of time at the mall and/or time/money sending things back and forth for online purchases.  i.e. Eddie Bauer's sizing chart for skirts still had me at a 16, but I actually wear a 12.  But do you think my local Eddie Bauer even carries the skirt I want?  Of course not.  And their 'XL' tops usually fit (big shoulders), but sometimes run huge, just for fun.  Shopping takes way too much effort!

st01-hey we're very similar in stats...'cept you've been losing and I haven't!  :o)  And you are close to my age too!  I lost a bit when I was counting calories..then cut back and just focused on the exercise...mostly cause it just takes so long to log ALL I eat!  I logged yesterday when I was hoping to have a snack and WHOA I was close to 2000...so obviously I eat more than I think.  I am always hungry!  Does anyone NOT feel hungry all the time?  I do have my cheat...I love coffee drinks and I really don't wanna give those up.  But today I'm TRYING to stay under 1800....I just don't know if I can do 1400.  Anyhoo we don't have a Dillards -tho I was introduced to it in New Mexico once.  Eddie Bauer does go all over the place with sizing.  I am a large for shoulders but small chested so YEAH nothing fits right.  But I find Old Navy cheapo jeans in talls and I'm happy.  Jeans are easy to find I think.  Nice pants, not so much.

Oh the tales we could all tell.....  Happy day, everyone!!

Ooo!  I finally found the lost village of the Amazons!  I was hoping to find some other tall women to chat with - it's so hard to talk calories and goal weights if there's a big height gap.

Anyhoo, I'm 5'11" (5'12" right after a trip to the chiropractor), 165 lbs, looking to lose 5-8 more pounds (I was at 172 a few months ago).  Unfortunately, I've been looking to lost those 5-8 pounds for a while now, and they are not looking to lose me.  I'm pretty active, and have no tolerance for hunger, so I guess I need to get used to the idea of losing very, very slowly.  *sigh*

I look forward to talking to you all...

Hi I'm Kristina...I'm so excited to have found others like me!! I'm 23 years old, 5'11 and my starting weight (and heaviest) was 223 lbs. Currently, I'm down to 197 but my goal is 175. So I have a ways to go! I also haven't lost any weight in about three months due to pure laziness. I go to the gym anywhere from three to five times a week but for the last few months it was definately more like three...and I wasn't watching what I was eating. I'm actually suprised I didn't gain anything back! Now that summer is here though, my motivation is back and I'm ready to put in the effort. I'm looking forward to talking with everyone here and hopefully this will help keep me focused!

theluckiest - I totally know what you mean about "bigger shoe sizes = outrageous heel heights and ugly designs." I'm a size 11...but I can usually get away with a 10 in sandals. Honestly though, what does the size of my feet have to do with my style or fashion sense!?! It drives me crazy! And why ARE there so many 3' heels in a size 10 or 11? Do they not realize that we're already probably close to 6 feet on our own? We don't need any help in that area, thanks! Mainly though, I just hate that a size 11 is so hard to find!! I just want cute shoes like everyone else.

I find nice shoes at Marshalls but rarely in a proper size for me. I love wearing heels even if they make me 6' or 6'1. But Im stuck with painful shoes most always. Someone with great fashion sense needs to make a tall line for all shapes with comfortable, cute shoes that dont break the bank.
Okay..I'll be on the lookout now for cute flat size 11s that don't break the bank!

Friday weigh in: CW 173 down one lb...doesn't seem like much BUT after about 4 months of no movement, I'll take it!!! Happy Friday, beautiful tall friends!

Friday Weigh-in!

161!!!

5'11"

I'm not sure why I lost 4lbs this week, but it hasn't been fluxuating. It's a little scary, but since we're tall and I think I was carrying extra water weight...well, I'll take it!

I probably shouldn't be weighing myself since it's TTOM.... but it's not too bad -  CW 175 GW 155 (so up about a lb from last week)  I'm pretty sure I'm retaining water so I'm not too concerned.

I'm planning swimming, pilates and treadmill this weekend and I'm all set with healthy fiber rich foods (which really help me), so I'll start losing again next week.

Have a good weekend everyone!
