tall club 5'10'' and over ladies who want to lose 20-30 lbs... join me for weekly weigh-ins and motivation!!
Lauren in San Diego here (5'11''). I was up to almost 180 lbs at the end of last year and I lost about 10 pounds during Jan-Feb and then got lazy. I need to get back on the wagon. I think I weigh around 170 and I would like to be 150. Weigh in on Fridays for me starting tomorrow. I would love to chat with others who have similar stats and goals to stay motivated. All my girlfriends are little petites, I need some amazon love!!
Let's look hot and healthy this summer!!!
I have to tell you, I have hips that will never let me be skinny even if I wanted to. What I would like to do is see myself as a thin person. I used to be that person, and I really hope someday I will be again. I can see a tremendous weight loss, don't get me wrong, but I still don't feel thin. I think it takes time for your brain to catch up with the weight loss. Does anyone else feel that?

Okiewoman - you are still my hero. 130's? wow! I think I was in the 130's briefly - when I was first married. On our honeymoon I bought this great little black dress size 8 that fit me that night out only. I swear the next day it was already too tight. But I still have it, you never know.....
Dawn - thanks for the kind words. Good to see you back! I don't think I have seen the 130's since my husband and I were dating 20+ years ago. I am pretty sure I was mid 140's when we married. Is it wrong that I don't remember my "marriage weight"? I always here people say oh I weigh the same now as when I married...... I am happy to provide inspiration to anyone who wants it....this thread has been really motivating for me so I am happy to return the favor. If I can get these last 8 lbs off, then the really hard part begins, maintenance. I am more scared of maintaining than losing!

I still feel like I'm FAT. Not just a little chunky but fat. I have to keep reminding myself that I'm not that person anymore and I can relax and not feel self-conscious all the time. I'm getting a little better but the mentality is definitely still there. I had a lifetime to build up those feelings and I've only been a normal weight for about 6 months now.
Hello my fellow amazons
I use to be apart of this forum a while back when it was first created. but I got discouraged cuz I wasn't losing, and gave up. I am now motivated and ready to lose
again. here are my stats:
5'11
CW: 197
Started CC at 205, back in July
Goal Weight: I would like to get down to about 170, havent seen that in years.lol
I have upped my cals to about 2000 a day and have since been losing, I have gained some muscle, cuz my body composition has changed and I have been getting alot of compliments.
Init: I was looking at your pics and you look great. Can't wait to get to where u are at. You are my motivation, as we are the same height!![]()
Hi All, I've been doing a bit more reading, less posting lately. I've been reigning back the high cal counts--been a tid bit hard but I'm trying at least. Today i was 176.4 so now i'm consistently bouncing between 175-176 so that's good! not quite where i wanted to be this week but i'll take it!
and etah...i cannot believe you think you are fat. i'm sure you hear that a lot and no one can really understand but you...i just want you to know that you are amazingly beautiful and slender!!!
diva--holy cow...i'm someone's motivation! thanks
! congrats on the lbs lost so far. i'm eating about 2000 per day as well and i think it's all about the composition changes, the scale is nice but not as nice as seeing the muscles come out and the fat go away! you are doing great!
so i have a question for everyone! I don't have a scale in my new apt, so the only time I've weighed in has been at the gym, around 5:00. I know when I was at home a lot of times if I weighed in any time other than right when I woke up (after the bathroom lol) I would be 4-5 lbs heavier than the AM.
I've been 151 or 152 at the gym, so do you think its safe to say I've lost some weight? I will be home Wednesday for a few days so I guess I can wait til then but I am really curious :) (my weight was around 150-151 during my AM weigh ins before I moved).
any insight appreciated! also, if anyone has a recommendation for a not-super-expensive, digital, ACCURATE scale plz lemme know! I can't live like this much longer!
-Danielle
Hi Everyone! I missed Friday weigh-in...well I weighed, I just didn't announce (super busy, but fun weekend). I think I was around 154 on Friday, though had been around 153 most of last week and slipped down to 152 over the weekend...which is where I am today.
Jeesh, I'm supposed to be maintaining 155. I try to lose and I maintain...but when I try to maintain, I lose. This weekend I knew I was going to be eating a lot of unaccounted for food so I increased my workout intensity. That was the magic button. So when I go back into official weight loss after the Holidays I'll remember to increase my calories by a bit and shift up my workout intensity. Oh, and I ate WAY more fat over the weekend. That just seems so backwards.
To all celebrating Thanksgiving this Thursday, have a great time! And don't beat yourself up about calories.
Ola ladies, god I'm not nearly on this as much as usual these days, very busy. I hate winter!! I find it so hard to resist food in the dark cold mornings, my new temptations are wholemeal scones with strawberry jam in canteen at work, as a mid morning snack, i lasted the whole summer being able to resist them but now.. i just cant seem to!! its a bad habit i need to quit! Im in slooooow losing mode as in .5 lb a fortnight but thats something I guess.. I'm aiming to cut down on my carb intake, last week I averaged 100g a day, but its been creeping back up to 115-120g and Im thinking that may have been the key in losing a little last week. Anyone notice any change in lbs after switching their percentages around?
Danielle- you probably have lost weight although if you weigh yourself on a different scale you migh not see the results anyway. I own 2 scales and they are consistantly 2 lbs off from each other. My old one is nearly dead but it's the one that tells me I weigh 2 lbs less so I keep it around to give me comfort. It's also the scale I started with so it's the "official weight loss scale". Can you weigh yourself in the morning at your gym?
Skooks- same thing happened to me. I've lost a half pound every week since maintaining. It sort of gives some weight to those claims you see all the time about eating more to lose weight!
Carol- I never paid attention to the carb ratios when I was actively dieting but I paid attention to my protein and fat which I suppose means I was paying attention to carbs without...paying...well you get it. I knew that if I didn't get in enough protein every day I would be STARVING all day long so I made sure I had tons of protein at every meal. I really believe that it's different for everyone and you have to find the balance that works for only you. If you post about it in the general forums someone will jump down your throat for being an Atkins freak or something.
Init- you are very sweet and that means a lot to me. Thank you, I have a little tear in my eye. This is such a great group of ladies, amazons rock.
Count me in! I am a newby here as of today.. 6 ft tall and 50+ over my ideal weight.
Welcome lory45! You'll love it here, these ladies are the greatest.
Happy day after thanksgiving everyone! Hope you all had a great day.
Well it is friday but i am NOT going to weigh in. Did pretty well with food yesterday - no seconds or leftovers- but still afraid to get on the scale until monday.
Lory- Welcome
Etah and skookum- great job on the successful maintanence! losing without even trying is the best :)
danielle- i bet you have lost some weight with all your walking but i agree with etah that the scales can be really variable. The one at my gym says I am 3 pounds lighter than my one at home but I don't count it (unless i am having a really bad day) since I have been tracking all my progress on my home scale.
Happy Friday everyone! I agree with Kate, I wasn't about to weigh this morning....I did weigh yesterday and was down .6 lbs. At this point, I am happy with such small losses, it is still going down and that is what is important.
I missed posting on time...again.
I'm still eating a good amount of food, but have dropped down to a steady 150-151. I'm going to try to hold 150 through the rest of the winter and then this spring try to get an additional 5lbs off my legs. Seriously though, if I lose any more weight off my upper body I'm going to intentionally gain it back. LEGS LEGS LEGS. Must lose fat off the legs!
Worked on Thanksgiving so didn't have to battle any massive amounts of food, but have joyfully been making my meals out of the left-overs in our fridge. I LOVE Thanksgiving food! There is an excellent piece of pumpkin cheesecake waiting for me *sigh* to finish my run tomorrow.
Hi everyone. Hmmm, wonder why so many people aren't weighing in on the day after Thanksgiving?
I'm about 194-5 this week. Still headed in the right direction. I've lost enough now (12 lbs) that I'm hoping someone will notice soon... the downside of being tall.. we hide the gains and the losses well.
Welcome Lory45 (I'm 45 too)! And welcome back, Diva. I know all about getting discouraged - great that you're back at it.
Good monday morning ladies, oh man, the festive season has most definitely kicked off, i have been so so bold last weekend, I ate out Thurs and Sat and Sun, now I am seeing the price on the scales, im hoping so much I can lost a lb or 2 of that by this weekend, I am hosting a party for friends on Sat, I'm thinking I will serve up some Lasagnes,Fries,Cooked Ham and Turkey Breast with Salads, Im hoping I will stick with a couple of fries and Turkey Salad and leave the more indulgent Lasagne to the others. But God am I already dreading the temptations around Xmas, The thing is its not just one day where I'm from it lasts over a week! Im worried I'm an all or nothing kinda girl. I need a strategy and some help from the best ladies in the forums!!
Hi Carol - you can do it. You know how to make the smarter (notice I didn't say smart, it's Christmas time, you have to indulge some) choices. I was amazed that I did well over Thanksgiving...I actually ate more than normal for the last 4 days and somehow managed to lose 3 more pounds....I can't believe I have broken in to the 130's!!! I never thought I would make it. I did compensate by walking more and staying active in general. I think part of it was that TTOM ended and the other is the higher fat I was eating got the system going again. I only have 4 more lbs to my goal....I am down 76 lbs now!!!! Yeah me!
Okiewoman: That is amazing congratulations!! I wish higher calorie days would kick start me, I see it straight away in how my clothes fit as well as on the scales so I dread the thoughts of January
Hi Carol, sorry to hear about the struggles lately. Have you thought about upping your cals a bit everyday to maybe 1300-1400 to start and then seeing how you do for a few weeks? then maybe you won't be tempted so much to eat out? that's the way it works for me anyway...although i eat 2500 calories, and i also weigh a good 40-50lbs more than you so maybe that has something to do with it! ![]()
My thanksgiving was good! I ate tons that day, ate maintenance the next day, and about 500 over maintenance on saturday. All in all, I lost .4 lbs! YES! I'm 175.8 now and I'm thrilled, holding steady in the 175-176 which makes me very happy. Ready to lose a bit more now before the next big holidays but at least my in-laws have a new treadmill so i can work out there. i did no activity this past weekend besides the 1.5 hr cardio guilt session yesterday!
Hope you all are doing well.
This week: 196.5
last week: 197
Loss. 0.5
I'll take the .5 loss considering all the sweets I ate this past week. I was outta control, probably could have lost more. Oh well.
Thank YOGA! Looks like we have almost the same stats. I'm right behind ya in the weight department.
Good job init on the weight loss!
Skookum: great Job on your weight loss, I remember you from wayyy back when I first join, Wow you already in Maintenance, you go you!!, and you look great!
Carollally: WOW All that sounds good!
Okie: Congrads! You'll be there before u kno it! I can't wait til I hit my goal
