tall club 5'10'' and over ladies who want to lose 20-30 lbs... join me for weekly weigh-ins and motivation!!
Lauren in San Diego here (5'11''). I was up to almost 180 lbs at the end of last year and I lost about 10 pounds during Jan-Feb and then got lazy. I need to get back on the wagon. I think I weigh around 170 and I would like to be 150. Weigh in on Fridays for me starting tomorrow. I would love to chat with others who have similar stats and goals to stay motivated. All my girlfriends are little petites, I need some amazon love!!
Let's look hot and healthy this summer!!!
Hmm. A whole week with no comments. What's everyone doing, Christmas shopping?!
I lost a pound this week - yay me.
Starting: 206
Current: 193
First Goal, Normal BMI: 183
Final Goal: 175
Almost half way there....
YOGA: Was jus thinking everyone has been really quiet these days, I know that I am so busy with work and class these days and christmas looming is a pain even though I love it! Well Im maintaining 128 which is pretty good seeming I didnt eat well at all last weekend. Well pretty healthy stuff just too much of it, I did however, do a 24hour fast for charity yesterday so I thought I might be down a little from lack of anything in my belly.. alas no! Pretty proud though I ate well when the fast finished and didnt stuff myself with anything unhealthy, ate a nice piece of salmon, green beans, cauliflower&salad. Deliciousness!
I have a dinner party Im hosting tomorrow night, give me the strenght to avoid the tortilla chips and pringles my boyf insists on, hopefully I can stick to the celery & carrot sticks with salsa, I know when im drinking all I want is something crunchy to pick at, so surely they will be a good sub.
Anyway ladies have a great weekend, keep truckin!
Oh yeah gals, I've been busy. I love the Holidays, but there is always so much to get done!
Carolally, hope you have a great time at your dinner party. I'm sure you'll do an excellent job of staying on task and not overdoing it. You look great for a reason!
Yoga, you've lost almost 15lbs? You're doing excellent! You'll be 175 before you know it...and shock every one who knows you when you shrug off the layered winter clothing for spring styles.
I've been busy, but not too busy to keep up with exercise, healthy eating and breaking hearts. *snicker*
My weight dropped down to 149 for a brief moment last week and had been pretty consistently at 150. But yesterday it jumped back up to 153...this morning too! Ack! Stooopid weight, just stay put! Period should be here anytime now.
On the cool side of things...I had been running intervals for 20-30 minutes almost daily since April. Then decided to run straight through. I'm so excited to announce that I can run 2 miles in 18.5 min! Okay, not even close to my college time...but I'm getting there! 2 miles straight and not feel like dying when I'm done. But ug, that probably means I need to step it up.
I'm also anxiously waiting for the arrival of my new workout DVD by TamileeWebb (Buns of Steel lady) called "I want that body". It's a toning DVD that I plan on mixing into my routine. Anyone tried it or heard of it? It's gotten excellent reviews and this butt-o-mine needs a lift.
Today was my half-marathon. I finished in exactly the same time I did last year. Which I was happy with because I shirked on a few of the longer training runs to get school stuff done.
I am holding steady for yet another month (surprise, surprise) at 159 lbs. But now that my training is over I am going to transition to shorter HIGHER intensity cardio and really try to actually do some weight lifting. I hope that this will result in some changes finally. I think steady state cardio has me in a rut.
Skookum- You rock with the running!! Way to stick with it and really see some results.
Carol- Hope you had a great party! Holiday snacks are so hard to resist.
Yoga- 13lbs down yipee!!! steady loss is so validating.
Etah- Haven't heard from you in awhile. How is maintaining going?
Hope you ladies have a great weekend!!
Maintaining is going swimmingly, thank you for asking. Like Skooks I never hold steady at my darned goal weight. I go under then way up then right at it. I give myself a 5 lb window to be cool with the swings and I've actually not been stressing it too much. I went out for Mexican food last night for a friend's birthday and ate tons of fried cheesey crap and THEN went out for drinks (and got myself a little drunkety drunk) and the scale was super rude to me this morning. Overall though I'm sticking to a general weight eating 2500-3000 calories a day (including dessert pretty much every day), lifting weights 3 times a week, running a 5k every Saturday (I'm not nearly ready for you half and full marathon girls routines) and then random shortish cardio stints or nothing on the other days. I will probably up my cardio again soon just because I enjoy the feeling of it...and I plan to make cookies and fudge for the holidays and I refuse to gain weight from them.
Yay for the loss Yoga, you are rocking this weight loss thing and I'm so jealous of your constant progress!!
Carol- can't wait to hear how the party went
Kate- your running kicks my running's butt. I need to get my act in gear and push for longer distances. Good for you!
Skookum- As always you are the queen of weight loss/maintaining. I can't believe you were at 149, jealousy!
Morning ladies, arent we all busy little bees, god work is chaotic these days, not getting much chance to do anything, havent rly been eating well, little bites here and there, zero exercise.. Oh my party was great fun, I did stick to relatively good portions and the dips and crudites are the best ever, defo kept me away from the chips and pringles! I'm down around 127.5/128 this morning which is great before xmas, Ive one more week of trying to be very good and then relaxing a little for the hols, havent quite worked out a healthy plan yet. Any tips?
Happy Friday everyone. No loss for me this week, even tho I've walked every day. All I have to do is look at the food that's going in my mouth to see why! Very chaotic schedule this month, with evening club basketball practices for both kids that break up the family dinner (on top of daily practices for me and the daughter for the school team). One more week of that nonsense! Our school team made the play-offs, and it will all be over next week.. Whew! The coach is ready for a break.
We will be hosting our annual cookie baking party tomorrow. A bunch of friends come over and bake cookies in our kitchen, and then we all get an assortment. How many cookies will I eat tomorrow? Who knows!
I decided to stop ignoring the tendonitis in my heel and ice it... used one of those blue ice packs and damaged the skin - my DH's comment was "Duh... I warned you about that..." Why do I always have to learn the hard way? ![]()
I've been out of pocket for a couple of weeks...but the scales have been kind. I weighed in this morning at 135.6, only 2.6 pounds to go! I was hoping to make it by Christmas when I am home to see my friends....but if I am only a pound or two off it will be fine! It is still smaller than they have seen me in probably 20 years! I am hopeful I can manage only a couple of pounds gain during the time I am home, I am planning to get some extra walking in each day, but you know how it is when you are trying to fit in seeing all the families in a few days time.
I haven't posted for awhile again...but I did get caught up with all the posts. Yes- we are all busy, thats for sure.
Yoga - you and I are in the same boat, same stats and same goals. I think I said before how my drivers license says 175 - and would love to really be there. Enjoy the cookie bake!
I haven't been walking - it has been so cold and dark. I like to listen to audio books on my ipod - and walking in the dark with earphones in just seems foolish, but I'm spoiled by having the audio book, and I get so bored with out it. I have a membership to Contours - which I enjoy - but going after work cuts out time to go over homework, dinner etc... All excuses I know, but hard to work around never the less.
I keep flirting with 200 lbs, with todays weigh in at 197. Which is up a lb.
Dawnvb - my license says 168 - I think I lied when I put that down!
We do seem to be in the same boat...
Try walking with only one ear bud in. I do that when I have to walk down the side of the road.
Hey Memphiskate! Excellent job on the 1/2 marathon! I'm so impressed with anyone who can run like that.
Etahbear, you made me laugh when you phrased "my scale was rude to me". That was funny. Maintenance is crazy isn't it? But I do like that there is less pressure (also keep the 5lb window) and enjoy looking for higher fat and higher calorie foods.
Carol, I knew you'd be disciplined at your party. Nice job sampling without over indulging. And hey, you've lost weight. As far as a plan for holiday eating...I say eat more and exercise more. That's my plan.
Okie, you just blew passed me at some point. It's kinda fun to shock people who haven't seen you in a while. At a Christmas party tonight I ran into a woman I haven't seen in a while who'd slimmed up and is now in excellent shape. She looks amazing! I think my jaw dropped.
Everyone else, it's good to have ya'll back!
My weight went up to 153 most of the week. That time of the month again...ack. But went right back down to 150. This morning it was back to 149ish. Yeah, all over the place. I've been running at night instead of morning and think it's made a difference. I have more energy so can put more into the workouts. I love my workouts! I ate a crazy good dinner at the party tonight. Au Gratin Potatoes, Pumpkin cheesecake, shrimp, grilled chicken...mmmm. I planned a large meal into my daily intake, then ran when I got home. I feel like a million bucks!
So, my review on the Tamilee DVD; My thighs are in pain! So for that I give it a 10. It's a quick workout too. I have just been doing one of the buns/thighs toning workouts (squats and lunges galore) after my runs and love the combo. Please please please let it lift my butt back up to it's former bubbled glory!
I almost forgot, the best part about living in TX is you don't list a weight on the driver's license so you don't have to lie!!
well hello everyone! I've missed you all! I have been very MIA lately for a couple reasons- STILL don't have a scale, so I can't get an accurate reading, have been eating weirdly, well thats mainly it!
Since moving my lifestyle is very different. I'd say I'm eating less, but probably also less healthy! I'm trying to get a hold on it and this morning I made a nice BIG breakfast with scrambled egg beaters with a little cheese, potatoes with some onion, cooked with PAM, and two slices of 20 calorie turkey bacon. Just slightly under 300 calories and I'm FULL! I have a *date* tonight so I don't want to be grazing on crap all day and end up bloated!! I'm going out for some drinks at 8:00 with this boy whos a little cutie (not really little, don't worry he's def over 6'!!). I don't know what to wear, but then again I never seem to haha!
I cannot wait for the holiday- I'm going home so gosh I will probably gain. On the plus side, I've joined a gym so I've been getting nice varied workouts in. I bought a few personal training sessions, have done a group exercise class, and I try to vary things up instead of running every day. now I run about 3 days a week. When I go home I am going to weigh in every day so I can figure out where I'm actually at! My trainer did my body fat again and I remain at 18% so that seems okay, probably about the same as when I left.
I hope you are all well, and are enjoying the holidays!
Danielle
Happy Friday again everyone. All done with your xmas shopping? No, me neither!
Still holding steady at 193ish. It snowed here this week, which is unusual, so it's been difficult to get out and walk. I think maintaining is what I'm going to try for until after Jan 1. Anything else seems unrealistic with chocolate and cookies all over the place.
Only 2 more days until the Winter Solstice and then the days start getting longer :-) I've been such a grump, especially since I haven't been walking daily this week. Can hardly stand to be around myself and I cry at the drop of a hat (or a really bad rendition of Sleigh Ride at my son's beginning band concert). This is when I really wish I was Sleeping Beauty - please don't kiss me until March!
Not sure how I've managed with all the Christmas Cookies I've been unable to stop eating...but holding pretty steady at;
5'11"/150lbs
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!
Oh and hah hah! Danielle! I've been dating a new boy too! Another 6'3" man. I had to pop up on my toes a bit to kiss him on the cheek the other day.
And Carol, I just browsed your gallery...beautiful girl. You look fabulous! Although I'm laughing at how different your world looks since my lovely city has been covered in snow and ice all week. So cool that we're all from everywhere.
Yoga, hah! I finished my shopping and wrapped my presents almost 2 weeks ago! Neener Neener. I've also decided to be a bit more lax about my food until the new year rolls around. It's just more fun that way. Can't imagine I can do too much damage in two weeks if I keep up the exercise.
Hi Ladies, Holding steady for another week which is great since I ate about 1/2 a batch of those butter pecan shortbread cookies since monday :) I got a great dress for new years so my goal is for it to still fit perfectly on the 31st.
Yoga- I too have to get going on the shopping. I only have 2 gifts purchased so far.. Not sure where all the time went this year! I hope the weather improves where you are! Do you have a fireplace b/c a good fire always lifts my spirts when it is nasty outside.
danielle and skookum- Congrats on the boy front. where are you finding these tall men and do they have tall friends? I can't remember the last time I had a date with anyone over 6'. They all seem to like the tiny girls down here.
okiewoman- great work! you are quite the inspiration.
Carol- For the holiday parties last year I tried to eat a small healthy snack before I went so that all the fatty salty snacks weren;t quite so tempting. I think it helped.
Dawn- Any chance you could go for a 20-30 min walk during lunch at work? When I first started losing that was what I was doing that so that it would be light and warmer and I really enjoyed it. Plus then your after work time is yours.
Hope you guys have a great holiday!!!
Merry Christmas everyone! I too am done with my shopping and everything is wrapped and ready to go. Woo Hoo! I am holding my own for the most part, still holding steady at 137ish, actually down to 136 on Friday. I am happy with that. If I can keep it at or below 139 through New Years all will be good. Then I can hit it again and finally get to 133 and start the difficult part of maintaining. I go to the Dr on the 16th of Jan....it will be interesting to see what he has to say. He told me to lose a little weight to get my cholesterol down or he would put me on meds......I should be down 75+ when I go back if I can hold my own through then.
Edited to add....in the interest of full disclosure...I was back up to 137 this morning....not sure why, probably water. I didn't overeat any this weekend and was active for most of the weekend.
aw man, typed out a big long post and the server went, anywya quick summary..
skookum: thanks so much, your very sweet.
update, reached my goal 126, hoping to not out on too much over xmas and maintain in new year. My mantra 'that choc will not taste as good as fitting into my tight jeans'
merry christmas to all of you excellent ladies, enjoy the season for meeting with friends and family, choc is not the true meaning of the season after all haha
Caroline
