Lauren in San Diego here (5'11'').  I was up to almost 180 lbs at the end of last year and I lost about 10 pounds during Jan-Feb and then got lazy.  I need to get back on the wagon.  I think I weigh around 170 and I would like to be 150.  Weigh in on Fridays for me starting tomorrow.  I would love to chat with others who have similar stats and goals to stay motivated.  All my girlfriends are little petites, I need some amazon love!!

Let's look hot and healthy this summer!!!

Hi Ladys-

My Friday Weigh in:

Last week: 179.5

Today: 177.5

2lbs, not bad!

Have a great weekend! :-)

Happy Weigh In day girls! Last Friday i was 178, today I weighed in at 173.6! So my first week back I've lost about 4 1/2 pounds! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Congrats to those of you that have made progress.  I'm stuck... still at 195.  Maybe I'll log for a day or two to see where I am calorie wise.  Ug.

My first official weigh in day since hopping back on the diet bandwagon, woot!

I am down a pound from last week. That's freaking great for me, if I can keep this up I'm going to throw myself a party and gain it all back again. This means I really just want to lose 6-8 more lbs and then chill again.

Welcome new faces and good work old faces. Once again we are the most successful group I've seen on this site!

Nice work everyone! And yoga, not losing isn't a bad thing...it's when the scale perpetually moves upward. So, nice work not gaining!

I'm about the same. Bouncing between 150-151. I look exactly the same as I did at 155, so not sure what the weight came off of.

Still love my toning DVD, as cheesy as it is. Unfortunately, I'm not seeing a lot of improvement in my lower buns, which is the only part of my body that scares me.

Anyone have experience with an exercise that really works the upper hamstring/lower butt?

Hey Ladies! I would love to join! I'm 5'11" and currently at 210. I started CC a year ago at 276, got down to 189 and then bounced back up this Fall after some personal issues at home. But I'm back on track and want to lose the rest to get to my ultimate goal of 180. My goal is a lot higher than some of yours, but I am also 38 with 4 kids, a single mom, and I teach full-time. (Teachers are the worst about bringing food into the break room! Aaahhh!)

Trying to keep on track, but it's hard when chasing kids the way I do. It's also frustrating when I hear people talk about losing weight if they are, like, a size 6. But I also realize different people have different goals for themselves.

Also, I am trying to find some "me" time in my busy day. Got any ideas about how I can recharge and spend at least 30 minutes each day for me?

Good work everyone and welcome to the new people!

I missed updating yesterday but I did weigh in.  I was down another lb...so, start weight 213, current weight 134, goal weight 133.

mmdeam - sorry, no advice for gaining time for yourself.  I have no kids vying for my time, so I can't offer any help.  Sorry.  Good luck to you.  I can imagine that the snacks in the lounge would tempt me too.  Luckily, I work alone most of the time.  I had one vendor send me snacks for Christmas and I gave them all away instantly (well, I kept the pears).

hi everyone! thanks for the warm welcome! I unfortunately had a terrible weekend with plenty to eat and drink. I want to start tomorrow off right and go to the gym and kick start my week. I will weigh in on Friday so I have several days to make up for the past two days. I'm hoping for 172, it was 173 the last I checked.

Does anyone have any great suggestions after a bad weekend to get back on track? quick and easy motivators? good music to work out to? and sweet treat that isnt bad for you?

thanks guys!

Welcome to the newcomers!

When I want a dessert I either make crustless pumpkin pie with extra egg whites for protein or an apple crumble type thing. Both will get you A nutrition grades if you're very careful to keep the sugar and flour to a minimum or in the case of the pumpkin out entirely.

Skookum- i think a good exercise for that specific area is to get on all fours and kick one leg up to the ceiling (keeping knee bent in an L shape). you really use ur butt to kick ur leg up. actually nicole from sparkpeople.com has a great butt exercise routine! you can look it up on youtube. trust me, it wont disappoint :P

nybanana! I just had a bad weekend (food wise) but a TON of fun with family. I felt so blah physically when I got home (fam out of town) but I completed my workout and added several minutes just to expel some extra sodium. It was tough, but its the best way for me to get back on track after a couple days on 'break'.

Thanks for the tip meggo! What a great exercise! And yeah, that should do it. I'm gonna start with 3 reps of 15 (it kills!) and try to advance from there.

mmdeam, when I have to battle for "me time" I get up extra early. It isn't pretty for the first several minutes, but worth it every time.

Okie, you are truly the incredible shrinking woman.

etahbear, you always have the best food advice. I'll bet you're an excellent cook. Is cooking/baking a hobby of yours? How was it for you, coming out of maintenance?

hi ladies!

meg/skookum- I also do those butt lifts and they are AWESOME! a variation is to also lift the bent leg out to the side, not just up.  also to just do little pulses at the end of your set for 30-60 seconds kills!  i think these really help!

nybanana- welcome!  my FAV "light" sweet treat is a no pudge fudge brownie.  its mix that you make with fat free yogurt.  when you make the entire batch they come out exactly like regular brownies, and even the men in your life who think diet food =s death will like them!  if you are like me though, making the whole batch is dangerous, so they have a recipe on the box to make a single serving which is equally as great but looks/has the consistency more of a chocalte soufle.  i think you will love them!

so i have just been so terrible the last (ahem) two months.  but the weirdest thing is that I haven't gained weight!  I just weighed myself on Friday, and it was 152.5, but that was in the afternoon after two meals, and also the day before ttom started so I think I'm still right around 148-150.  I just added a self-taken bikini picture to my gallery.  I really want to slim my legs/thighs.  if anyone has any suggestions please shoot them my way.

I am sooo ready to be back on track and get skinny for spring/summer!  lets do it!

D you look GREAT! i cant wait to get to 148! Im about to go try the pulsing thing, but you are for sure right about one thing and that is NO PUDGE! I forgot about that stuff lol. Its crazy that its so tasty and so low in calories. i like to put fat free cool whip on top and add a few pecans before I microwave it (one serving).

Just a random note...i tried something new from healthy choice. Its a little steamer bowl (on the soup isle I believe at walmart). I dont normally eat asian food or even TRY it. The smell makes me gag and it has a bunch of weird stuff in it like peppers and what not that I try to avoid but a coworker gave me a bite of the "sweet and sour chicken" flavor and I got the shock of my life. It was SO GOOD! They're almost 3 bucks but if you like this kind of thing you should try it!

ha ha, oh Skookum you are so sweet and engaging, thanks for asking. Yes I am a fanatic cook, I bake all the bread we eat fresh daily and spend hours on shopping farmer's markets and in food prep. I'm finally to the point now where I can just eat small amounts of my own creations and leave the rest alone, that was a killer to learn.

Coming out of maint. has actually been a breeze. I stayed active so I haven't had to change my work out habits at all, just lowered my calories a bit and that initial water weight drop was really super fun to watch. Now I'm only 4 lbs away from where I want to be and that's fairly doable.

Danielle- you look AMAZING, good heavens lady. I cannot wait until I can rock a bikini myself, unfortunately it's going to take a scalpel for me to get there.

Hi All :)

You have all been doing great!!!

I survived the holidays and then some---and I'm happy to say I didn't gain a lb. This is a major deal for me as it always was AT LEAST 5-10 good lbs...not just water weight lbs! I kept up my workouts and ate what I pleased. i haven't felt this comfortable with food...ever? I have boxes of cereal in my house, graham crackers, frosting, etc and haven't had to feel guilty about going overboard yet. Pretty proud I guess.

So anyway, I'm ready to lose another 10lbs by April! Since it took me about 2 months to lose my first 10 I'd like to give myself that amount of time to lose the second 10.I'm currently maintaining on 2500-3000 so I'm a touch concerned about lowering cals as I tried a couple of times to limit to 2000 and had trouble!

The next few months will be tricky for me--I was offered a couple of jobs where my husband is and decided to take one so I'm moving in mid-Feb and I am so excited! That means access to gym will be limited for 2 weeks (my membership runs out here at the end of Jan) and stress levels will be high. I am confident that I can do it though. I am slightly concerned about my emotions and food intake when i move in with hubs and we tend to have trouble controlling our temptations with food when we're around each other. It will take A LOT of focus for me to listen to myself and not what he's saying or eating :).

I will be back with official weight/measurements on friday and hopefully a new set of pics soon as I've lost some inches and bf *I think* since my last ones even though I'm the same weight. and i can't even pull off my two fave pairs of work pants anymore...i look like a fool with a saggy butt.

Maidin Mhaith Caliní (theres a little good morning ladies in Irish for you)

Hope we are all well this week!

Etah: I second you, DPlatzer knows how to work a bikini alright! Also any good low fat recipe ideas to share you sound like an excellent cook, I love baked goods but the problem there is you tend to make a batch, and I could never just stop at one, if there are there to be ate I will eat them! You are so lucky in the states it seems, there are way more slimming friendly products to choose from. That no pudge fudge stuff sounds the business!

Kris- You have had such success congrats, and keep it up! Im always amazed at people who can lose so much, Ive found it so tough losing 15. weldone!

Nybanana- How are you finding getting back into the groove after weekends? I always find Im a little extra hungry on Mondays, because I usually eat more on Sundays, Im hoping this just means my metabolism is increased a little each Mon! Who knows!

Skookum- Are you back in maintenance? how do you know when you are happy with your weight and you are happy not to lose anymore, I can never see that happening for me! I'm gone to hell with the lack of exercises ince I started back at college in the evenings, the evenings I dont have college I just convince myself I deserve to relax, there is no way Id want to spend my time off in the gym now, so im thinking a dvd for 30 mins even when i get home from college is something I could manage, have you got a fave?

Anyways, as Friday is weigh in day, I'm actually kinda peed to report Im sticking at 128lbs, usually Im happy to report no gain, but Ive been super strict this week as Ive a weekend of drinking and eating off schedule ahead, and Ive been keeping my carb intake below 100g/day which was the key to debloating and losing for me before xmas, but now nothing..blah! will keep truckin I guess, as long as I'm not going up its good.. have booked a weekend break in london valentines wkend, so new goal, get back to my maintenance goal 125/126 by then.

Oh if anyone is from London, tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys, this is the best group!

Good luck

Caro

Not bad! After this weekend I'll be back to good eats...promise. Hubs is coming to town for the last time till i move in w/him and we plan on having some of our faves this weekend!

Hi -  New girl here.

I'm 6 ft with a current weight of 182 (as of Monday) my goal is 165 (as of my old self last year) by the end of March 09.  I plan to do weekly weigh in's....daily weigh ins are to much of an emotional trauma :)

Ok - I've poured over these pages on CC and I would consider myself a reasonably intelligent adult - but eat more calories to lose more weight?  Difficult concept to understand.....I know if our bodies go into starvation mode that it 'holds' onto fat (the weight we are trying to lose).

Here's the deal - I've set my limit to between 1200-1300 calories a day.  When I use the tools on here it's says I have to eat 1390 to reach my goal weight by the time frame.  The burn meter says I currently burn 2200 at current weight and activity level.  What's the other number on the burn meter for? My BMI is normal 24.7 (Over 25 would put me in the 'other' category)

I've recently re-joined the gym and will increase my activity level beginning this weekend.

Welcome Mellisa! I agree, weighing everyday can be tough. Plus weighing in once a week gives me that extra push to get out of bed on Friday :P But I would definately say you need more like 1400-1500 calories a day. Remember, the way you lose weight is to have a defecit, but a defecit of over 1000 cals  day after day will send your body into starve mode. (allegedly) I dont know what you have your burn meter set to (active, sedentary etc.) but if you have it set at sedentary then you definately need more cals. Because 2200 is what you burn just sittin doin nothin. When you add in daily activities like showering, walking around at work and stuff you burn more and so you need to eat more. Also if you START eating 1200-1300 cals if you hit a plateau then you cant lower your calories any to jumpstart things. Thats my thinkin. What do you girls say?

Carol you are doing great! Im sure you will see a loss on the scale in no time. You always do!! Keep ur chin up, you get to go to London! :D that sounds so fun!

Init-congrats on your saggy butt lol. Thats a good thing when ur losing weight!

Well girls, I weigh the same this week as last week, well Im down .2 lbs lol. But wednesday I was 171 so Im not worried. I know I lost cuz I can see it and feel it. I just went out to eat last night to Texas Roadhouse and I think I am holding water maybe. I swam a mile and then some afterward to burn it off, and did some strength moves too.

I too joined the gym! Last night my trial membership ended and I renewed! So Im an official YMCA member. I feel like Lady when she got her collar and license (in Lady & the Tramp) with my little card on my keychain. So proud :D

My activity level is set at light - so not a whole lot going on there right now. Desk job - I do climb the stairs and walk around alot though.

I see so - if I currently burn 2200 doing little - in order for me to lose weight I have to have a deficit of say 500 (2200-500?) is that right? So roughly 1600-1700 calories a day? AND when I begin to work out (I joined the YMCA last night!) that should increase to more in order to have a deficit of a lower (new)calorie intake (cuz I've burned those puppies off?)

I see a flicker of a light bulb moment coming to me....I'm slow but I do arrive :)~
