tall club 5'10'' and over ladies who want to lose 20-30 lbs... join me for weekly weigh-ins and motivation!!
Lauren in San Diego here (5'11''). I was up to almost 180 lbs at the end of last year and I lost about 10 pounds during Jan-Feb and then got lazy. I need to get back on the wagon. I think I weigh around 170 and I would like to be 150. Weigh in on Fridays for me starting tomorrow. I would love to chat with others who have similar stats and goals to stay motivated. All my girlfriends are little petites, I need some amazon love!!
Let's look hot and healthy this summer!!!
Where are all the talls girls at? I've been gone a couple weeks and the thread has barely moved at all!
I had my tummy tuck, it was a smashing success. No more embarassing belly flap! I atually have a real bellybutton now too, these are exciting times. As soon as I'm allowed to exercise again I hope to lose about 15 lbs, some of which I gained while my mom was here taking care of me (pumping me full of cakes and muffins). I've already started on the first step- cutting out sugar again. I got addicted to it again and now I'm suffering without it. Lots and lots of fruit flavored sugar free gum!!
How is everyone else doing?
Yeah D and Etah. You gave the thread some new life! Congrats Etah on the tummy tuck. That is awesome. I'm sure you will get where you want to be in no time. I had slacked off a little and was at the top of my happy zone. I am happy to say this morning I was back at the bottom. I still would like to take off 5 more to see what the 120's feel like. We'll see. It really won't make any difference except in my head. I have re-established that I must walk to lose weight. I can eat within weight loss cals and the scale will barely move, add back walking 30 min a day and it will drop back off. I knew that, but had stopped walking because it was so blasted hot. I started back on Monday and they weight came back off. I ran into a friend I hadn't seen in a year or so this morning, she didn't have any idea who I was. When I walked up to her she asked if she could help me with something (I was standing too close to her to be a stranger and she thought I was invading her space).....I laughed and said I can't believe my own Sis forgot me and her mouth dropped open. She couldn't believe it was me. When her (real) sister walked up she didn't know me either and was shocked when she put together who I was. Too funny.
Etah- So glad the tuck went well!!!
I have been remiss on my logging this summer. Have been traveling a lot and not living at my house much makes it harder to monitor everything. Have only lost two pounds all summer even with walking about 4 miles a day. I think I need to start running again in earnest. Doing another half marathon in December so hoping to lose about 10 lbs training for that.
Hope everyone is doing well.
K
Etah- yay for the tummy tuck, so happy it turned out well! When you are feeling recovered you will have to post a pic for all of us :)
Okie, your story is awesome! I bet you still can't believe what you've done sometimes?! Very inspiring!
Kate- even though its slow, at least the scale is moving in the right direction!
As for me....things are not so hot. I had a really REALLY bad weigh-in/rude awakening yesterday (if you are interested, I posted a journal about it). Anyhow, I am back with vengence. No more slacking here! I will be weighing in on Wednesday morning @ my gym to see where I really stand, as I have a tough time imagining that I'm really what the scale said, 164.5. Craziness!
I was 162 when I started here in May '08. I got down to 148 last fall. I haven't really fallen off the bandwagon, I still work out nearly every day and moderately watch what I eat. Thats why it seems so unlikely that I am REALLY at 164.5 (ps- as of April or May I was @ 152/153). Anyhow, I want to get down to 143, that is what I was at the peak of my fitness and I wanna be back there!
Tallie here! 5'10 and 167lbs. trying to get down to 130. I was 130 about 2 years ago and it was defiantely my heslthiest wieght ( i am built a littl smaller bonewise so trust me, it isnt too much weight to lose, my excess fat hangs reallly badly on me).
I was really doing well with my diet, almost halfway and then i fell off the wagon in a bad way, so now i am just trying to start up again. One a happier note, i am on a birth control that seems to have cut my appetite in half in the last few weeks, so this is actually helping! as a former bulimic, who still has her binging tendencies, a decrease in appetite can only be a blessing.
so... thats it:)
Welcome cmiriah! Can't wait to see your progress! I wonder if I'm lucky or unfortunate to have a larger frame. I'd be nothing but bone and look awful at 130, then again I'm also 4" taller!
I took a picture last week of my 2 week progress and just uploaded it to my gallery. As you can see I'm still super swollen (though I'm down to looking about 3 months pregnant from 5 months pregnant- progress!) so a little slack must be cut but I'm still happy to own my first bikini ever.
Welcome cmiriah! We are here for support when you need it.
Etah - your picture looks great already!! Congrats on your first bikini....that has to be a wonderful feeling!!!
Oooh, can I join this thread? I am 5'10" and currently 145. I am quite small framed, so I am looking to be between 135-140. I started out at 165, and I have lost 20 pounds since March.
In any case, I would some motivation from other tall ladies!
Hi! I'm new here! I'm 5'11, and I started out 220 pounds on April 17th 2009 and now I'm 203 pounds. I'm hoping I can bring that down to a healthier weight, probably 160 pounds in the long term.
It's been great reading the accounts of others, I hope we can all achieve our goals slowly but surely :)
Welcome kbella and ifeelpurple! I look forward to hearing about your progress!
Thanks okie, you're a sweetheart. I have what seems like a long way to go still!
Dplatzer- I'm anxious to hear an update from you. I have to imagine that it was just freak water weight somehow or a weird scale, I know how fit you are.
Well hello and welcome to all the new ladies, it is soooo great to have the oldies back again, I generally check in but as ive nothing new to report I never feel like posting. Etah excellent news on the tummy tuck, Okie, thats great that you know your trigger to lose, keep up the walking, DPlatzer that sounds insane, its so hard to gain with all the working out you do, it must have been a blip on the scales. As for me, well Id been working hard to get down to 126lb (9 stone, as it is here) before my mini break/vacation and I have to say I drank and ate so much in the space of 5 days, but I hadly slept. I weighed this morning and seem to be up to 129lbs which Im actually so fine with because at least 1lb of that is water weight and Ive two weeks to shift it and get down to 127lbs or hopefully 126lbs again for a big wedding I have to attend. I'm excited I'll hopefully have progress to report to you ladies!
Carol - Hi! I am still trying to get to the 120's to see what it is like. Give me a few more weeks (or months) depending on how I am doing. It seems like while my hubby is in town I don't have as much willpower and just maintain. I am OK with that, but someday I will dip my big toe into the 120's to see what I think.
Welcome to all the new ladies. It is great to have some new people joining us. Give us a shout when you need some encouragement. Someone will chime back in for ya!!
wow, did i really say my apetite went away? I am now the victim of late night munchies! i've never been a middle of the night snacker but now i am so ravenously hungry at nighttime, haha. i gave in and made myself 4 eggs last night=/ hopefully better tomorrow.
and goodness okie 120's! i havent been 120 since i was in middle school, haha. i think i would be a bit too small there.
dplatzer, wow i hope it was a malfunction of the scaley kind! the same thing happened to me, except i fell off the bandwagon hard, haha, so sadly my scale was correct and i was back where i started! really thinking its not the issue for you since you keep active and watch what you eat, i assume, much better than i did on my "fallen off the wagon" time.
Hey there, I am Martine, im 5ft 11. I currently weigh 163 pounds, I am looking to get to about 145-150. It is really difficult to drop the last bit, I seem to plateau
Hey!
Id like to join this thread too. Im 5'11" and currently 182lbs. Ive been working with a trainer for about 3 months now and NOTHING! but thats also cause I didnt change my diet at all. Well thats not entirely true, my body has totally chaged- no more jiggly bits! But no change on the scales.
So I figure Ive been wasting all this money on personal training that I should probably start getting some results on the scale and to help keep what I put in my mouth in check I decided to join up here.
Overall Id like to lose 30lbs to be about 150lbs.
Short term we have a 'results week' at the gym in two weeks and Id like to be at least under 180 by then (+hopefully a bit more).
I have a feeling im going to need a LOT of help!!
Welcome everyone, the more the merrier. I am so glad to see this thread revived with the new life!!
cmiriah - no wories, by dipping my toe into the 120's I mean maybe 128 - 129. Nothing further than that. I don't think there will be any noticeable difference, just something Carol has challenged me (unknowingly) to try ![]()
welcome to all the new ladies! (and those oldies like me just returning!) To the new ladies, we used to do our weigh-ins on Fridays. I think I am going to resume that habit, starting with tomorrow.
My plan this week has been choosing solely fresh fruits for my snacks. Lunches are lean cuisines, which is not my fav, but I figure by doing that for 1-2 weeks it should help me shed a few quick lbs. Just found out today my parents are coming up to Boston to visit this weekend, only the 2nd time since I moved up here in early Nov. Unfortunately, my dad has very limited hobbies, pretty much just eating. So much eating will be had. My plan is to limit or abstain from alcohol, load up on veggies and salads and stick to nonfat cappucinos for desserts. This time around, sweets have really been the biggest factor in my weight gain. I swear Inever used to have the sweet tooth I've had lately. UGH. I am also going to be sure to get in a workout every day. That means tomorrow I will hit up the gym before work, hopefully get in 3-4 miles on the treadmill. Depending on the plans, I will either do my long run on Sat or Sun morning, I am up to 10 miles @ this point. The other day I will do 3-4 again.
Not really sure what to expect on the scale tomorrow. I do think the 164.5 was an anomoly, but I also know I won't be seeing the 150-153 I had been maintaining :( Progress report will be posted tomorrow. Good luck to everyone else, and share your weekend strategies with us!
Hello, I'm new to this site and wanted to know if I can join in on the challenge. I'm 5'9 and weight 210. My goal is to get down to 170. What is every ones routine. I currently don't have one for we just moved to a new state and Just finished unpacking. I have a treadmill and free weights to get me started. Any suggestion.
Hi babygirl. Welcome to the group. You are starting about where I did....I am 5'10" and started at 213. Good luck to you. I don't have a lot to offer for workout advice, sorry. I am probably one of the laziest people you will ever meet. I walk 30 minutes a day and unload mattresses at work once or twice a week. I have NO upper body strength and I am trying to change that, but the laziness gets in the way!
Hello okiewoman,
Thanks, I'm lazzy too. That's my biggest problem. I created a workout room in my basement. I've used it twice. lol I really need to get off of my bottom and get in gear. I lake motivation. I so want to lose weight before the holidays.

Figure out what type of eater you are and you might just find the answer to permanent weight loss.
