Lauren in San Diego here (5'11'').  I was up to almost 180 lbs at the end of last year and I lost about 10 pounds during Jan-Feb and then got lazy.  I need to get back on the wagon.  I think I weigh around 170 and I would like to be 150.  Weigh in on Fridays for me starting tomorrow.  I would love to chat with others who have similar stats and goals to stay motivated.  All my girlfriends are little petites, I need some amazon love!!

Let's look hot and healthy this summer!!!

Hi there, just starting with Calorie Counter and I'm already going crazy. I am 5'10" and 180lbs. Haven't EVER been this heavy. I went to the doctor and found out one of the medications he gave me caused weight gain...it was necessary so I had to stay with it until I was "fixed up" and now I'm left with the weight. I also just found out I have type 2 diabetes which adds another obstacle to my menu planning. I would be really happy at 145-150 lbs. Walking my dogs is my exercise and I'm trying to stay within 1200 calories...hopefully I'm not underestimating and setting myself up for failure...I've always been on the "thin" side so I haven't ever put too much thought into what I eat...and WOW is counting calories ever an eye opener...I'm surprised I wasn't 500lbs based on what I've consumed in the past.

Thanks for reading and congrats to all of you that are sticking with things and seeing results, that really is a bigger deal than we give credit for!!!

Welcome Judeprevost!

This is a really helpful website. I hope you find it as beneficial as I have. My husband has Type 2 diabetes and he has been successful at controling his with only diet and exercise so far. (It's been 8 years, too.)  It takes a lot of discipline but it sure is worth it.  I know one lady on CC who was taking insulin 4 x a day and on more than one oral medication as well. She has since lost 100 lbs on CC (in 10 months) and only has to take one oral medication now. I'm sure there are other success stories as well. I personally find these people so inspiring to me. I have to loose about 37 more lbs and I'm just getting started too.

Hope to see you around,

Beth

Yeah! Friday weigh-in.

5'11"

160lbs! Whew. TTOM last week, and my weight was all over the place the past two weeks. Glad to see it stabilize over the last 3 days near my best low. Hoping to make it to the 150's next week.

Have a great weekend everyone!

2 lb loss since last week!  Yay!

Hey Emberjem! Nicely done! I'd better step it up because you really are catching up to me quickly. I'm only 1lb down in 2 weeks and you drop 2! in 1 week. Not good for me, except as a motivator. Just wait until next weigh in, you. *sinister laugh*

And oh my goodness, I have been hungry a lot lately too.

(To fill in the rest of you, Emberjem is my twin except I had a head start of over a month...maybe 2. We had about the same start weight and close in height.)

hey all, well after a busy week, work wise and totally lazy week gym and activity wise, im very happy to see friday come around, maybe not friday weigh in though, as ive been so lazy, anyway im down to around 137.4, it sure is coming off slow but thats good for me, im two pounds away from my mini goal of 135 for my bday (29th june) and defo gonna hit the gym hard until then, this wk my body needed a break so im home to my mom for the weekend, lots of nice food around but im gonna try keep it healthy stuff and small portions..

welcome newcomers, hope you enjoy this site and forums, stick with it, ive found it so educational over the last few weeks. your hard work will pay off if you do it right!!

ps. i resisted popcorn at the movies thursday night, never thought id see the day but after researching the cals here, just could not justify it, I did get a ben and jerrys low fat brownie frozen yogurt though, for 190cals for a small.. it was a damn good substitute!

Hello Tall lovelies!

I missed the weigh in yesterday but this morning 176 - down 1 lb. this week... good for me!  Anything is better than going up.

Congrats to all who are sticking to it and meeting their goals!  Keep up the good work!  They should talk about us on Oprah!

Hello Tall Ladies,

Okay, I have a gripe or rant, or whatever you want to call it.

It just isn't fair that when you are tall and trying to loose weight that it takes more pounds for people to start noticing any change. At least that has been my experience.

Last night my DH and I did our usual Friday evening out thing and went to our favorite coffee shop for coffee and to hear live music. When we walked in the door a friend greeted my husband with "Wow, you're looking good! Are you loosing weight or something?" (emphasis mine)

I thought to myself, "NO, HE isn't loosing weight but I am!" But I was nice and didn't say a word. I did however give my husband a little bit of a dirty look and he gave me a little snicker followed by a loving look of sympathy.

Okay, I feel better now. At least I KNOW I'm making progress and one of these days maybe someone else will notice the results, too. Wink

Have a great weekend ladies,

Beth

Beth-- I know what you mean!I can lose 10 lbs and no one notices.  My sister (5'3") loses 10 lbs and gets a whole new wardrobe. I just try to think about the positive benefits of my weight loss and shrug it off.

Hi Girls! I hope this weekend is treating you well!

I always find the weekends to be the hardest. I think because it's just so darned easy to have a little snack every time I cruise by the kitchen. This weekend hasn't been stellar, but it has been far from disasterous. I'm *still* on the mend from my bronchitis, and it's hard to believe I've been sick for nearly two weeks; although I AM getting better. I did lower body weights yesterday for the first time in nearly a month, and ouch!!  (I've been good about maintaining upper body during my slacker time)

Beth: You are so, so right! What I found was that no one noticed for quite some time, and then people acted like I lost 35 pounds overnight, even though it took over a year. It was really strange!

Congrats to all on their losses! I've basically had no change, but I'm hopeful for next week, when I am able to do some cardio again.

Hi!  Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Skookum-you'd better watch your back!  I am so coming down and we're going to be neck and neck in the 150s!  ACTUALLY, I'm losing fast now 'cause it is like starting over from my first 5 lb drop probably.  It may just slow down.  But I hope not!

I'm so glad to have all of you for motivation!

Today was my middle child's bday...so I had some bites of cake!  Not too many.  Pretty off weekend, tho, eating stuff I don't normally eat...hard to count calories w/ all the unknowns.  But I worked hard Saturday getting the house clean and the meal prepared for our guests (all family) for the bday/Father's Day celebration.  We'll see what the damage is when I weight again.

Yeah......on comments of peops not noticing....I don't know about you ladies, but I FEEL a difference.  I don't necessarily SEE a difference in the mirror but I walk around with my head up higher and just feel prettier, you know?  My hubby is the ONLY one who notices.  And I can't tell if he REALLY notices or if he just really wants me to feel good cause I'm doing it so hard core.  He said he can tell in my bum and he doesn't want THAT to go away!!  Hah!  I told him, not to worry, that ain't likely to happen as that is the ONLY place I've consistently been big for my entire life since puberty.

Monkey- I'm a stay at home mom!  Can u imagine how many times I walk past that kitchen???   So I know what you mean about snacking 'cause hey the food is right there!  What I have in my favor would be the 3 chillens I get to chase around who have WAY more energy than I....tho I don't always use that to my advantage (i.e. sometimes I sit upon my aforementioned bum way too much anyway)...whereas some of ya'll may have to sit at work and don't have that advantage...so it all works out.    (sorry that was a long entry..guess I missed everybody!)

hey guys!

i'm not sure if this thread is still open to new people. but if it is, i'd love to join.

i'm 5'11" and currently 225

i have PCOS, and was put on some medication about two weeks ago, so i'm finally getting rewarded for all my hard work :o)

in those two weeks, i've lost five pounds and hope to keep it going. current goal weight is 200, with a long term goal of 150-160 depending on what looks healthier for me.

anyway. again, i hope i'm not interrupting a closed session. it's really lovely to see so many tall ladies out there. i'm surrounded by cute little petite things who get eyes wide as saucers when they hear how much i weight. not the most positive reaction to receive when one wants to feel good about oneself.

:o)

Welcome Coffee cake!

You can join...this thread kind of reinvents itself every so often...many of the people who started it aren't here anymore...but whoever needs it joins in!  Fridays are weigh ins for those of us left.  Good job on your 5 lb drop!

Welcome Coffee cake! It looks like you and I joined CC about the same time. This is a nice group of ladies. I look forward to you joining in our discussions.

I hate telling short people my weight. They do react funny especially when I tell them I want to loose 35 or 40 lbs. They say "No, you'd be too skinny!" No one ever argues with me that I need to loose weight because that part is obvious. But they do argue with me about how much I should loose. I usually just shock them by letting them know that if were to try and get down to the weight I was when I got married (and I wasn't too skinny then), I would have to loose about 65 lbs. That usually shuts them up.

Today I decided I was up to the challenge of eating at our favorite Mexican food restaurant without going over my calorie allotment for the day. I'm proud of myself because I did really well. By the end of the day I had 1500 calories rather than my usual 1200-1300 but I was still way under my burn meter. Actually, I think I went so high more because of my lunch than the dinner. I had a little more than usual today.

At the restaurant I ordered a kids enchilada plate. It came with one enchilada, a little bit of rice and a little bit of beans. I ate 8 chips with some salsa, too. I gave my tortilla to my husband. It cost only $3.50, too. That was a nice bonus. I was actually sluggishly full afterwards. So, my husband and I went for a 3 mile walk. I had to make myself want to walk but it sure felt good to do so.

hey everyone, happy tuesday!

I missed the Friday weigh-in, but I weighed-in today, and it was good!  Its SO nice to do this gradually, but to look at the little weight tracker thingy here on cc going down!  Anyhow here are my stats:

5'10''

SW- 162

CW- 155

GW- (st) 150 (lt) 145

Even though I hoped to be a little lower by now, I still feel a lot better, and my clothes fit a lot nicer.

Going to Florida tomorrow for the wedding I've been trying to loose weight for (by good college friend!!).  Hope you all have a great week, keep up the great work!

Hey guys!

I'm 5'10, weighing about 160lbs at the moment.

I weighed 145lbs last summer, which is so depressing, I wish I could go back to that weight easily but nothing is working. I haven't weighed myself in a few weeks as I have no scales at Uni, but i will be devastated if I haven't lost any weight. I have been eating no more than 1400 calories a day for a while, which is how I lost the weight last summer.

However, noone has noticed my weight gain of 15lbs, which I suppose is a benefit of being tall! my clothes still fit, although some are a little bit tighter. My boyf says he hasn't noticed any extra weight, but I can see it on my stomach and hips! I think I looked healthy and slim at that weight, definitely NOT bony or skeletal. I'm so hoping that I would have lost at least 2lbs when I weigh myself when i'm back home in a weeks time.

I want to be part of the tall girls club here! It'll help motivate me to loooossee! I have 2 big holidays coming up this summer and want to feel confident in my bikini. Good luck all you beautiful tall girlies :-)

Hey everyone! I'm 5'11, weighed 186.6 this morning :O

My highest weight was 210-215..not sure how high it got and my goal is to be in the 160s!

Good luck to everyone on their goals!!

Hey I just weighed in at 173 yesterday! Woohoo and this morning 177 !?#@

I guess its all water weight changing so much but how do you know what you really weigh than?

amariep,

Do you log your weight daily on calorie count?  If you, you can go into the weight log, and the green line shows you what you really weigh, considering water weight fluctuations.  Normally for me its not as low as I wish it were, but its good to know.

Hope this helps,

Danielle

PS- i had a BAD lunch!  I had a grilled buffalo chicken salad.  Ususally I bring my own healthy dressing, but I forgot it today and used almost the WHOLE cup of ranch! opps!

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to mention other websites on this forum but if I am...my sister emailed me this morning to tell me about a site she finds helpful. Its called hungrygirl.com and one of the nicest features is her "substitution recipes" My sister said she tried the "french fries" which are butternut squash cut like fries and baked with butter flavor pam and she said they are delicious!!! I looked up a substitute for buffalo chicken wings and found one that sounds fantastic...anyways..thought some of you might enjoy reading the tips and recipes.

Can someone explain the "burn meter" to me...sorry if I'm stunned and missing something...

Wow, it sounds like a lot of us have the same weight loss goals.  I am 5'10 and weight 170.  I am looking to go down to 145.  I have just started counting calories...i am on my second week and I have lost 3 lbs.  I am definitley going to start weighing in with ya'll.  This is great motivation!
