tall club 5'10'' and over ladies who want to lose 20-30 lbs... join me for weekly weigh-ins and motivation!!
Lauren in San Diego here (5'11''). I was up to almost 180 lbs at the end of last year and I lost about 10 pounds during Jan-Feb and then got lazy. I need to get back on the wagon. I think I weigh around 170 and I would like to be 150. Weigh in on Fridays for me starting tomorrow. I would love to chat with others who have similar stats and goals to stay motivated. All my girlfriends are little petites, I need some amazon love!!
Let's look hot and healthy this summer!!!
I borrowed the Hungry Girl cookbook from my cousin, and I must say that it is amazing!! It's probably similar to the website..just in written form..the tips/substitutions are my favorite part...and most of the substitution dishes taste just as good as their evil calorie-filled counterparts!
I hope it isn't too late to join ya'll.
I am a 33 yr. old -5'10 stay at home Mom of 2.
My husband and I started doing a popular weight loss program May 26th.
My start weight was 173.
My current weight is 164.
My goal weight.. ideally would be 135-140. It sounds like a lot, but for me it's been the norm for 20 years. I haven't weighed this much since the day I gave birth![]()
It's nice to see other girls who are in the "Amazon" club. Most people think I look great, but my closet disagrees. I would love to see my size eights again.
I hope to gain a ton of motivation from everyone!
Welcome to all the new amazons!
2lilguys..I, too, stay at home with my 3...5'10 also and current 168..i'll get down to you and skookum and we can all three race! Don't you two leave me behind! Ahh size 8! I remember those! I may even have one sole survivor in my closet.....
Man my allergies have me out today. Anyone else have that pleasure? Makes me wanna eat bad for me. Sympathy for myself I guess. But my dh is home for the summer (school teacher) so help w/ kiddos is a VERY good thing! Yay! Good job on the mexican food midwife! I can never find any calorie info on mexican...I think it is for a reason! I don't think it can be too good. All that cheese. Yum.
Hi Girls!
You guys have posted a bit!
I finally felt up for the gym today, and I did a bunch of weights. I have a feeling I'll be moving a bit like Frankenstein's monster tomorrow night! My husband is away until Sunday, and I'm hoping to use his absence to get back into my old gym routine. He is never discouraging, but it's definitely harder to make myself get up in the morning and work out when I'd much rather stay in our cosy bed.
Emberjem- I really don't know how you do it! I would totally eat my way though the house. Then again, we probably develop good defenses against the things we need to. I have to fend off all of the treats available at the snack bar on my office floor. Some days are better than others! I find that I also really want to chow down when my allergies kick in. Do you know what you're allergic to?
Coffee_cake: Big welcome! Congrats on your loss!
DPlatzer: Have a wonderful trip, Danielle! I didn't know about the water weight thing on the graph, that's really cool.
Beth: nice work, passing on the tortilla. I recently was quite upset after eating homemade fajitas as I discovered that tortillas had a lot more calories than i expected. I have bitterly declared them mostly not worth it!
Amariep: Every little bit counts, don't let the water weight discourage you.
Jmgentzke & Rorosie: Welcome to you too!
Judeprevost & xxwhitxx: Hungrygirl is such a fun site. It has some great ideas. I A while back, I picked up a copy of Cooking Light magazine, as I have a friend who swears by it, and it had some really great ideas as well. That, and the food created from said recipes definitely didn't feel like diet food!
2lilguys: welcome to you too!
(yes, I do answer as I read everyone's posts- I don't want to miss any!)
I hope everyone is having a great Wednesday! Friday is just around the corner!
I'm 5'10 1/2 and I currently weigh 192.. I started out weighing 230 back in November. I've lost a total of 38 pounds and I'm pretty proud of myself. I've still got 32 more to go to get to 160. That's my goal for now. If I get there and need to lose 10 more pounds, I'll do it! My problem is that it just seems like my weight loss is at a standstill. Can anyone recommend a good exercise video. I'm pear shaped and would like to sculpt and get rid of some of my hips, thighs and rear... What are you all doing to lose those last 15-30 pounds? Any advice or encouragement would be greatly appreciated! Best of luck everyone. :-)
Hi guys, just to check in with you all, I'm now at approx 136.2 pounds... 135 is my mini goal for June 29th (Sunday week and my Birthday) if i get there i will be so thrilled and well on my way to my ultimate goal of 130! However, today is my boyfriends birthday and we're going out for thai food with a big group of us for dinner tonight, as I have the menu checked up online, I've calculated approx. 1650 cals for today, including my oatmeal this morning and soup i'll be having for lunch plus starter, main, fruit selection for dessert and 4 glasses of white wine, to be sure im gonna say it'll come to 1800/1900 cals, so my question really is, if my burn meter says I burn 1990 cals at a sedentary level and i get in 40 mins of brisk walking at lunch, should I still get a deficit today and not see too much of a gai on the scales, other than water weight, also I'm planning on drinking lots of water throughout the day to ensure I dont eat too much and absorb the sodium of asian food also.
AAAAAAAhhhhh!
My boyfriend and I have been going out every weekend and I gained 1 lb. this week.!!!
Thanks for the hungry girl link maybe it will help if I adjust what I eat at home too.
Feeling a little discouraged this morning. I weighed in and have not lost a single pound since last week. I have exercised everday and kept a consistent diet of 1300 calories or below. What gives? I had gained a pound or two back over the weekend when I went to the beach and that is gone...is that why I am stuck at 170? Help ladies! I need some motivation!
jmgentzke1 Dont worry, i was the same for weeks I stayed stuck on 142 and i was working out like crazy, and being so good sticking to 1300 cals a day and then the weekends came and all id lose id put back on over the weekend, then I stopped working out one week, was very busy with work stuff and too tired in the evenings and to compensate I ate 1200cals most days and ever since Ive been losing 1 pound or so each week.. not sure if you can take anything from that, but just dont think itll never come off, it will!
I am hoping to still join.
My name is Megan I'm 19 and 6'1.... I maxed out around 200lbs
My current weight is 189
my GW1: 170
GW2: 150
Final 140
Thanks Carolally. I will keep it at. It is just frustrating to work at it and have nothing change. I need to focus on keeping my weekends more healthy. Thanks for the support. I am glad I am not the only one who gets stuck. I'm hanging in there!
Welcome Megan & amazon!
Carol WOW great job! You are getting so close to goal!
My experience (I'm sure I've said it before) for those of you wanting to tone....80% diet 20% fitness. So really the thing that is gonna lose the weight is your diet...and for toning you can't beat lifting weights. It is the fastest result-getter I know. And not wimpy weights. You can't get big like a guy. Lower body sculpting squats and lunges with weights. I do lunges with a 50# bar. Squats with 35# on each side on the smith machine. Whatever you hate the most is probably the best for you. Lunges are my love/hate exercise. You shouldn't be able to do more than 8 - 12 repetitions or your weight is too light.
Cool thing about muscles is you can eat more calories cause they are more efficient.
Howdy Ladies :) I read over this whole thing! wow. Soo...can I be in your group? Im 5'10, 166lbs and shooting for 140....I have 26lbs to go. Weigh ins are friday right? So far I've lost 6lbs in 3 1/2 weeks. (I gained 2 back last week and now I lost em again, hate it when that happens!).
i'm so excited for all the new people jumping on board.
tomorrow's the weigh-in
better go do some sit-ups, lol.
see you lovely ladies tomorrow!
Happy Friday, Ladies!
I think I have the earliest weight in of our current group (darn time zones), so here goes...
Starting Apr 08: 69 kg/ 34% Body Fat
Current Jun 08: 68 kg/ 34% BF
Goal: 65 kg (?)/ 20% BF - Changing my composition is my goal.
So, my weight is down from starting, up from last week, and my BF is unchanged. It's not really a surprise, as I've been laid up with a neverending case of bronchitis, and I was a bit of a slacker for the month of May. So, I can't complain. I just need to stay back on track. I lifted for 45 minutes for the last two days in a row, and I'm feeling good about and committed to what i need to do.
jmgentzke1- Hey Julie, I used to post to a Weight Watchers Tall Girls board, and a lot of the girls used to run into the same issue that you have, where seemingly you're just not losing, even though you're doing all of it right. A lot of the girls found success in increasing their calories and varying intake day over day. I know it sounds crazy, and when I was told to eat more, I thought NO WAY! Thing is, 180 lbs on one of us often consists of a lot more healthy mass than 180lbs on someone who is 5'1". There was a thing that went around called "The Wendie Plan", which is definitely out there to be googled. The Wendie Plan varied the number of points (groups of calories) the dieter ate per day, so in CCP-speak, instead of eating 1600 a day, you might eat 1400 two days in a row and then have 2000 on the third day. Either way, 1300 sounds awfully low based on all I've read, but we're all different.
Has anyone else had luck by increasing their intake?
I've got to run, but I'll post later. Good luck, everyone!
Good Morning Lovely Tall Ladies!
175 Today!
Getting back on track ...
This weekend Im really being careful...
Monkeyfish- I do points most days... definitely tried the Wendie Plan and it does work so much better..it speeds your metabolism by switching calorie intake daily as long as you dont go over your points by the end of the week. I also find circuit training is the most helpful exercise.
Good Morning Tall Ladies!
I just weighed in and I'm proud to say all my hard work and discipline is paying off. ![]()

I'm just counting calories and trying to keep my grade on CC an A. (Lots of fresh veges and I'm eating low fat meats like fish & chicken - NO sugar, only fruit - lot of water, NO sodas) Calories each day run between 1200 and 1400 (It varies but mostly I stay closer to 1200). I don't let myself get hungry. I always plan meals ahead of time and keep fruit snacks available in between meals.
I'm also walking with small hand weights about 6 miles each day and then doing water aerobics for 1 - 1 1/2 hours every week day. I'm sore but otherwise feeling better than I have in years.
~ Beth
Hey everybody! Happy Weigh In Day to you :)
Wow Midwife, you are really kicking some butt! I walk 3-4 miles a day with no weights and dont do the water aerobics and I feel like I'm doin pretty good :P
I weighed in at 166.8 today. Im very happy with that. I had to start taking salt pills and drinking 100-120 oz a day again (I have a nervous system condition that requires I have a lot of salt to raise my blood pressure). I take at least 900mg of salt a day in pill form plus adding it to everything I eat. So with all that salt and water and only 20 minutes or so of good sweaty exercise yesterday, I'm soo glad to see it didnt go up this morning :D.
Congrats to everyone who lost--or stayed on track all week even if they didnt lose! :) Thats just as important!
See yall next friday...
Thanks Monkeyfish. I will definitely google the Wendie Plan. It does seem strange that increasing your cal intake can help, but hey, whatever I need to do!
I forgot to weigh in this morning so I have no clue if i stayed or lost, but I will weigh in tomorrow and post. I ate 1450 calories yesterday and didnt exercise so maybe my subconscious made me forget :)
Congrats to all of you who have lost or stayed! And for those who gained, keep at it!
Well I just started this yesterday so my weight today is the same

I am going to try and be extra carful this weekend, everytime I am around my boyfriend or his family I tend to eat a lot more, and foods with a higher caloric value, this weekend should really be a test for me !
How much fibre should I eat per day?
In the US, the Daily Reference Intakes for fiber are: 25 grams for women 19 - 50 21 grams for women 51 - 70+ 38 grams for men 19 - 50 30 grams for men 51 -... Read more
