Perhaps we could keep this thread going, or maybe just exchange motivational emails.  All I know is that us tall ladies have a connection that nowone can deny!

I look forward to hearing from you gals! =)

Hey! I'm a hair short of 5'11. I started at about 191 and I'm now down to 172. My goal weight, which I figure I'll get to around May, is 135 or 140. I'd love some support from my fellow future beanpoles :)
Aweeeesome! =) I need to get down to 164.  This is perfect! We're both about the same distance away from our goals!

Oh man, I can not wait to be a beanpole!!!

So what approach are you taking to weight loss??

Hi yall

I'm 6' right now at 171 im trying to get to 155. It is nice that there are other tall women out there!! How many calories do yall aim for everyday? So where do yall buy your jeans??

Good luck to yall
Hey everybody!!

Im 5'10" and Im currently 180lbs (I started at 220lbs). My goal weight is only 155lbs because I'm curvy and busty.. and have no intentions of ever being a beanpole!

Good luck everybody =+D I know we can do it with the support of everybody on here!
Im 6' even...  and right now I am 210...   my goal weight here is 165 but at that weight I am a beanpole..  I am very fit and muscular.. martial artist... so I plan to go to 185 and then post a bunch of pictures and ask you what you all think..  glad to see tall ladies..  we rock..
i'm 5'10" and i weigh 180 pounds. Thank goodness for the height because it disburses the weight in proportionate ways! I used to weigh 150 and am trying to get the weight off that I have put on! Any tips? And where does everyone buy their jeans??
Im with you on that one devilgurl.. a lot of ppl are shocked when I tell them how much I weigh! hahaha...

I really like jeans for the Gap. Long enough, which is nice!! Some types are even to long. Warehouse One (if you have one) has "long" sizes too.

Anybody have really long arms too?? I can never find long-sleeved shirts that actually reach my wrists.. I'm always pushing up my sleeves, its so annoying!
Jeans!!!! In all honesty, lol, i don't wear them! I am a skirt fanatic!!! However, I did travel into the cold this winter (i'm a born and raised south floridian) and Gap did have the longs that I needed!  It's best to shop online there though, because that way they will definitely have the talls!

It is really exciting that we are starting to get some tall ladies in here!!

Neversaydaikai I really like your idea of posting pics.. i don't want to be a beanpole either, i'm curvy myself! I think I will def do that when I start thinking I look great at the weight i'm at! =) Probably when I hit the 180's I'll be getting towards my prime weight!
ohmyikc I'm eating whatever I want, but in controlled portions. It almost always ends up being very healthy food, anyways. I'm also at the gym 4-5 days a week. I do 45-60 minutes of cardio and some body weight resistance training.
I've found that even at 172, where I am now, I'm starting to look rather thin, but maybe I'm just becoming complacent. In another 15 pounds, I'm going to reassess my goal and see if I really feel like I need to lose that much more.
I can see my abs now! Not exactly a six pack quite yet, but they are clearly visible when I wake up in the morning.
So what "diet" is everyone else doing?
long_run That is AWESOME!!! Wow, you are truly an inspiration!  It's good to know that 166 might be too slim for me.. How exciting about being able to start to see your abs! You go girl!

You see, i'm also battling my BF, we've been together over a year and he likes breasts (even if they come w/ being pudgy- he's into that!), so he is all sad that my chest is starting to whittle down, but this is about me, and doing what makes me feel the best!!

I am eating 1,300 calories a day w/ 4 days/wk exercise :) Low carb too
I am a tall lady too!! At 5'11 I am weighing my heavest at 275 lbs!! I have been going to the gym 3 or 4 times a week, meeting with a trainer along with sticking to a 1500 calorie diet. So far so good =)
I was really surprised at how quickly my body adjusted to the gym and me pushing the heck out of it, I am doing things I couldn't even imagine a couple weeks back and let me tell you it feels great.
I weighed 151 lbs in 2000 and my waistline just expanded when I got in to a relationship. I hit a low when I saw some pictures of myself and just started crying, I knew I was a big girl but I didn't feel that I was as big as "that girl" in those pictures. So I decided to start moving my booty and haven't looked back since.
Of course I have my off days and being an emotional eater I am going through some issues right now with my boyfriend of 4 years and I really don't see things working out for us. He is not in a good mental state right now before I  was able to bring him out of it and look on the bright side but this time was different and I couldn't help him. So I told him he needed to do something different maybe a change of scenery would be good for the both of us, so he moved out last week it has been extremely difficult and I have never felt so alone in my life, but I know that I will be ok and that I did the right thing.
So long story short I am learning to focus on me, which is extremely difficult because I have always been a people pleaser and am trying my hardest to be "selfish" So I went back to college, back to the gym and back to my life. It will not be over night and I am aware of that but with patience and persistance I believe anything is possible. Thanks for listening.
I'm 6'2" and I'm at around 270lbs...which no one ever believes.  People say I'm lying.  Um, why would I lie about being heavy?  :P

I'm aiming for 200 and then I'll reevaluate from there...

Gap talls are really good, but I can never find the good work pants there--too casual...I end up going to Lane Bryant. If I get their Talls a size larger than I wear, they hang just right...but then they do this weird pooch in the crotch area since I'm disproportionately tall in my legs (and not so much in my torso).

Anyone know where to get good work pants?

And has anyone ever managed to find an ankle-length skirt that was actually ankle-length?
Marilyn- You are a strong woman! Breakups are the hardest!!!!!!! Just hang in there, I am sure that you are doing the right thing missy! =)

Just keep on the weight loss track.. it is hard, but I think you will find that by focusing on yourself (as you have stated) you will find your true self within, and only that will make you truly happy! =)
Distracted- Too funny :)
I have never ever ever been able to find an ankle length skirt that was actually ankle length!! Hahaha

Luckily I can sew a little so I make a lot of my own full-length skirts and dresses. Don't have any issues finding mini-skirts though, lol.
My favorite thing is the stuff on the sales racks... you know the stuff that is super marked down cause it looks terrible on everyone...  except 6 foot tall women who are all leg...    SCORE !  :-)
Hey Ladies, I'm currently a 5 ' 10", 18 year old college freshman who is looking to lose some of my freshman 15 and then some. I've always had a very athletic build so I don't plan on getting too skinny but I definitely would like to be fit for Spring Break ( and life!!). At my heaviest, (over the holidays), I weighed 185, and now I'm at 170 with hopes to reach 160 by the first week in March.

Currently, I'm working out about 6 days a week. 5 of those days, I play on the Ultimate Frisbee Team at school for two hours daily. I also try to do water workouts and strength training in the gym. Diet-wise, I've been sticking to 1100 calories a day, lower carb diet, and have only been driking green tea and water (I heard Diet Soda tends to bloat people). On top of losing weight, I'm trying to be the absolute healthiest I can be! Its definitely nice to see there are so many taller ladies trying to lose weight and get in shape. I'm also looking for ideas interestig foods that are healthy for you. I love foreign cuisine so anything like that would be great!! Well, good luck to all you taller ladies on the weight loss journey!!

PS. Personally, I think Gap Curvy Jeans are the best jeans I've found for people our height.
Hey Everyone- Happy HUMP Day! =P

Today I am wearing NY & Co long business pants, they are definitely long enough for me! Just wanted to share!

Hope everyone is doing GREAT!
Hey all!  I'm 5'10", and on the way down in weight...started at 195, down to 179.5 on the scale this morning...although I'll double-check tomorrow, since I was 181 yesterday, so yeah...won't believe it until it comes up twice!  :)  My goal weight according to c-c is 156.  I'll assess as I get closer.

I hear y'all on the jeans thing!  Gap is good.  Not too many places with really good talls.  Surprisingly, JCPenney online has a good selection of talls for business attire--haven't checked out jeans, tho!
