Tall people trying ot lose weight.
Does anyone lese have this problem:
You are a tall gal, and so all of your weight spreads out so much that you don't look very large and everyone always tells you that your'e crazy for wanting to diet, even though you KNOW you aren't healthy?
I swear i get that all the time, to the point where i don't want to admit that i'm trying to lose weight because of the stares!
I'd really like to start a a forum going, and even a group maybe, for tall people who want to lsoe weight. it's so hard finding a buddy your height with your weight, so let's help each other out!
I'll start.
Age: 18
Height: 5'10
Weight: 161 lbs
Goal Weight: 130lbs.
Welcome to all! We are happy to have you here!
I have been really busy lately and haven't had much of a chance to post. I have been trying to keep up with my calorie counting, but it's sometimes hard when I am on the run. I continue to make pretty good choices though.
I just started HIIT last week...I nearly threw up afterwards. I hear it is supposed to be like that though. I felt much better after my cool down. It was a kick ass workout. I really hope it burns my fat like its supposed to. I just keep envisioning my body without the extra fat on it...it keeps me going!
My weight has been bouncing between 148 and 149 for the past two weeks...I hope it moves soon. I also hope the HIIT helps me start losing again...it would be nice. I want to be at least 145 on August 7th (when I come to the US to visit my family). I have to go to a wedding and I want to look kick ass in my dress!
Hi!
Whats HIIT?
HIIT= High Intensity Interval Training

It should explain it MUCH better than I would!
kaetlynm i have the same weight goals! how have your's been going. any good advice? thanks :)
quazz, I love meeting people who have similar goals as me....it makes me think it is much more doable! In any case, I started out around 165 (I'm not entirely sure if that is right...I used my parents' scale at the beginning and when I returned to Rome to live with my husband, I had to wait to buy a scale for a few days). In any case, I just weighed myself this morning and I am at 146!!!! I can't believe it! Yesterday I must have been retaining water because I was at 147 (and I ate around 1600 calories yesterday plus a TON of water).
I started in like mid-March and it is now late July and I have lost nearly 20 pounds in that time.
In the beginning I was just eating my calories for the day and then doing some walking. I would occasionally do some tae-bo or ride my bike, but I mostly just lost weight by my diet. I eat pretty clean...the only "processed" foods I eat are really bread (and even that is whole wheat) and candy. I love candy, so I can't give it up.
I hit a plateau about 2.5 weeks ago or so, and I just kept doing what I was doing. However, last week I started doing HIIT, and it totally broke the plateau!
I also on occasion will do some lunges, squat, deadlifts, etc just to preserve my muscle mass...but I will probably only get that in one time this week.
Tomorrow I will probably weigh slightly more, as I am eating pizza tonight (Homemade)! But, my weight always seems to go up a bit when I make it. I am not really worried though!
I hope this helps! How has your weight loss been going????
Just thought I'd say that I met my goal of 145, although I am thinking about adjusting it a little. I am currently doing maintenance calories, and I am waffling between adding muscle first and then losing the fat or the other way around. In any case, I am quite happy so far!
How is everyone else doing?
Hello.
Kbella24 congratulations!!!!!!! I'm so happy for you. So are you starting maintenance now or will you try to loose some more?
2 Fridays ago I weighted 145, I was sooo excited. So excited that I proceeded to eat and drink all I wanted that weekend... when will I ever learn? So needless to say I'm back at 148. But I'm happy with that. I'm thinking that my new goal is 143. I don't think I'll need to loose anymore weight at that point, just tone things up. I'm doing weight training 3 times a week now to make sure all the flab goes away. It has worked in some spots but others not so much.
For anyone wondering, I used to be kaetlynm...I had them change my screen name, my old one was boring.
Congrats inacio on reaching 145! How do you feel????
In any case, I am back to losing (although nothing has really happened since I had been eating maintenance). I have a really small frame for someone my height, so I think I can get away with losing more. My BMI is currently 20.8, but I have been lower and felt/looked fine. I did it on accident like 3 years ago. I had broken both of my arms while studying abroad in Rome....and I had to rely on others to feed me. Granted, I weighed about what I am now starting out, and I believe I lost 10 pounds. In any case, I couldn't snack...I could only eat at mealtimes because people had to spoon feed me. It was hilarious. Suffice to say, I gained it back and then some.
So, my new goal is 135, which would give me a BMI of 19.5. If at any point I think I am getting too thin, I will stop. I am doing as much strength training as possible to keep my muscle, but I have to do it with my bodyweight because I don't belong to a gym, so I can't really "lift heavy" as they say.
Keep it up ladies!!!!!!
