Before I waste my precious college-kid dollars on something gross, do you guys think that strawberry nesquick powder would be good in cream of wheat as its flavoring ingredient?
Um, I don't think I'd do it.
For almost the same amount of money, I'm sure you could stir in a tablespoon of sugar free strawberry jam for a much better effect.
I often add that to my oatmeals.... sometimes a tbsp of peanut butter too.
How about fresh fruit instead?

For some reason, I am not too fond of fruit in my cream of wheat because I like it all a smooth consistancy.
How about with money and health reasons aside, would it taste ok?
you'll never know unless you try ![]()
Sounds icky to me. Some chocolate Nesquick would be good though.
If you want something lowcal, sweet, and smooth-textured, I actually recommend sugar-free pudding mix. Chocolate, butterscotch, banana, etc... and only 35 extra calories for a whole bunch of it.
If you try it, use low-fat milk or water (instead of full-fat milk) to prevent the pudding from setting (which would still be way yummy, but prolly not the texture you're after).
If you go to the 99 cents store, you can get a box of four servings of strawberry pudding mix (or jell-o mix) for only 39 cents per box! They also have nesquick if you still want it. That way you can try your experiment without dropping 6 bucks on a huge thing of nesquick.
i second the sugar-free pudding mix! i love mixing the single serve packets into my cream of wheat- it gives it an awesome flavor and a really thick consistency. yum!
Thanks, guys! I doubt my campus sells sugar-free pudding. But I guess I can at least try little jello pudding cups if they've got 'em.
Dude, you can get 4 servings of sugar free pudding for 39 cents at the 99 cent store.
That's less than a dime a serving. Don't buy premade pudding cups on campus when you're having money issues. D: That's just silly.
Also, premade pudding cups have ALREADY set (turned into a firm goo). That kind of defeats the purpose of mixing in a powder while preserving the texture of your cream of wheat.
Cream of Wheat is rich in iron, so it's a good for you food. I personally don't think it would taste very good, but that's just me. Why not try it in one bowl and see if you like it? After all, what do you have to lose but a few cents worth of cereal.
All my campus store had was chocolate Nesquik.
I suppose I'll let you all know the results after breakfast tomorrow :)
how about you use cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, nutmeg, stevia.... or sugar free pancake syrup instead... or better yet: real fruits??

I am always a fan of trial and error when it comes to experimenting with oatmeal, I say go for it and post your results!!!
Well, i just finished my bowl. It wasn't really all that chocolatey. It was ok, tasted fine, nothing special, and not something i'd buy nesquik to do again.
results noted.
I knew a guy who mixed the chocolate nesquick into his oatmeal, I thought it was strange, but he liked it! Ya never know until you try it!
