Tasting a bit too much of what I'm cooking

Quote  |  Reply

My husband loves cookies and I love baking, so it makes sense that I would occasionally bake him cookies, yes?

So this afternoon I baked him some cookies, my very own special recipe that I spent hours one day a few years ago creating. Every time I make them, I'm just so in awe that I came up with something so tasty, I eat at least four during the baking process. I can't help it, they're delicious. But I shouldn't be eating that many!

Now I only have about 150 calories left for the evening and I haven't eaten since 11am (it's almost 7pm now). I think that I'll just eat regularly (300-400 cals) for tonight and do better tomorrow.

My only saving grace is that the cookies are only 67 calories a piece and have lots of fruit in them. Anyone else have a problem with tasting too much of the baked/cooked goods?

ABSOLUTELY! i bake all the time and i recently got a handle on it... i used to take licks of the batter every 2 minutes... and lick the bowl... and the spoons... and eat a cookie/ scrape the cake pan afterwards... i literally would eat at least 800 calories every time!!  so unhealthy! and i would really be on a sugar highh after

soo i started not eating ANY while i bake- its much easier to have nothing than to say ull have a small bite and stop.  what i do is i take of a spoonful of batter and put it in a bowl.  then, after all the rest of the batter is in the oven and all bowls, spoons and mixers are in the sink and water has been run over them, i can enjoy the spoonful and don't have to worry about being tempted to go back for more.

I also have this problem...sometimes I think the batter or dough is better than the baked cookie! I will often bring baked goods into work so that I don't have them around to eat at home.
