Tasty Salads with optimum health and weight loss?
I've been trying to branch out and make new salads cuz I want to lose weight, but am finding that I need suggestions for salad combinations.
I think that the combination of ingredients and dressing is my problem. I also am trying to eat dressings w/o oil and that are home made sans chemicals, etc.
Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

I recently started experimenting with some new salad ideas too, as
there is only so much lettuce and tomato I can eat! I started adding
things like chopped raddichio (spelling?) or red cabbage (a lot better
than i thought it would be!) to romain lettuce with chopped summer
squash and/or zucchini. Throw in some chopped walnuts, or sunflower
seeds, some raisins or dried cranberries and now you've got something
better than a bowl of lettuce!! For dressing, you can mix soy-based
mayo (Nayonaise is my fave brand) with some dijon mustard and little
water if you dont want to use oil. Also, dijon mustard with balsamic
vinegar is pretty good too. And you can always add fresh herbs like
cilantro or basil to a vinegar or oil based dressing. Yum!!
Mixing up ideas keeps it easier to stay on track!! Good for you :)

My most favorite thing to put on salads are the banana peppers (pepperchinis) and fresh green beans... fresh asparagus is also really good on salads.
I love blue cheese and use the Wishbone Fat Free Blue Cheese dressing... I love it.

I use the bagged mixed greens and add things like:
Mushrooms
Onions (lots!)
Jicama
Cauliflower
Snap Peas
Ground Flax Seeds
I've been experimenting with dressings & really like:
Apple cider vinegar mixed with some water, a little bit of BBQ sauce, lemon pepper, onion powder & garlic powder. The little bit of bbq sauce gives it a flavor that reminds me of bacon...Mmmm!

I eat salad every day for lunch. I use the mixed herb salad that comes in the plastic tub and top it with:
grilled chicken, sesame seeds, garbanzo beans, shredded carrots, feta cheese, julienned zucchini, grape tomatoes, brocco sprouts, red and yellow bell peppers, red onions, cucumbers, baby bella mushrooms.
