Before I got my new and wonderful digital food scale and had a question about how many I would have to open the whole bag and count what was in there then divide by the number of servings the bag contained.  I would then use a marker and write on the bag how many in a portion so I didn't have to count again.  I don't have any tater tots in my freezer to count for you Laughing,  I'm sure there's a much more accurate way to do this.  I noticed on the food lists that none tell you how many, only that it's a 3 oz portion.  My best guestimation (because all tater-tots are not created equally) would be to use your crappy scale.  If it registers 3 oz with 4 or 5 tt's, then that would be pretty close, however if it takes 10 to get to the 3 oz, that's not good.  Good luck.  Such a dilemma!

Not sure if this will help you at all, but I have some of the Ore Ida (sp?) in the freezer...can't remember how many ounces are in a serving, but one serving of those are 9 tots..

It says the oreida tater tot portion is 3 oz and 150 calories, so 9 is right for 3 oz probably.

I'm having a terrible tot craving and they have them at the cafeteria at work. Those would be a lot higher in calories than the Ore-Ida ones, right? Since they're probably deep fried and not baked?

It annoys me how cafeterias (and a lot of restaurants and fast food places) never have caloric information available. Drives me insane!

I'm a pretty healthy eater, but when I have a junky craving, I want to know how much trouble I'm getting myself into!

I was the first to respond to your question this morning.  Well, I ended up going to the store and while I was there I looked at tater tots.  The generic brand I grabbed said that a serving is 3 ounces, and that is 10 tots.  I didn't look at Ore-Ida because I was running short of time.  Hope that helps!

ok well the walmart brand says 3 oz is 150 calor so i was eating about 5-6  just to be on the safe side thank you for all the replys.  i think i will stay at less than 3 oz portion seeing it is a treat to have them at all in my diet plan.  everyone was telling me i was looking to skinny i got down to 107 at 5'2 i thought i looked good.  They were drilling me saying i was looking sickly and that there may be something wrong with me losing so much weight.  so i started eating a lot too much and bam i gained it back now i weigh 111 and am not happy so here we go counting calories again.  So obviously i was not sick and didn't magicly come down with diabetes, like they thought.  My body was doing a great job at burning calor. why do people have to be so nosey or is it jealousy.

Sweetie.  You post a question to the public and you're going to get a reply from the public!  I am not jealous; you asked a question, I answered, and went out of my way to do so.  Sealed

I think the OP was referring to the people she deals with in real life who told her she looked sickly, not the people who answered her question. ;-)

thank you for clarifying that minerva, yes i was referring to the people i deal with in real life.  lol  i didn't take it personally what mommakitty said
