Tea or Diet Coke?
I realize that all cokes and teas are equally bad for you in large amounts and that I should drink water, but would you recommend one over the other when dieting? I ask because the water where I work comes out of a machine and tastes nasty, so I always wind up drinking half-sweet/half- unsweet tea mixed together, or diet coke.
Green tea is very good for the health. :) Don't buy those that come in cans or bottles, though - they're full of artificial rubbish! Buy those in little packets and brew the tea yourself. Diet coke may be zero in calories but all the chemicals do harm the body in the long run.
Original Post by gddrdld:It is soooo not true that "all cokes and teas are equally bad for you in large amounts"...
I agree with you, but I think the original poster is using "teas" to refer to those junky sugar-filled "iced tea drinks" which, to be fair, really aren't all any better than soda. Real tea (or real herbal tea) is a completely different kettle of fish.
Have you considered trying stevia to sweeten your tea, so that you can eliminate soda from the running altogether?? Ultimately it's about the caffiene and we want our caffiene to taste good. If you have never heard of Stevia.. it is an all natural, plant derived, calorie free sweetener that comes in a liquid and powder form. Also the liquid now comes in flavors, such as..rapberry, peach, mango, mint, honey, chocolate, etc..etc. You can find them at your local whole foods or organic market. Do a little research and give it a try. Good luck.
Tea... it gives you more options in controlling or eliminating sugar and that nasty artificial sweetner... just a heads up, I gave up artificial sweetner and lost some of what I thought was nasty belly fat... turns out the stuff was making me bloat around the middle!!! Chemicals are really bad, no matter how few calories are in them...
I suggest mixing some herbal tea with a caffinated tea for flavour, or even a flavoured caffine tea.... Stevia is an option as well....
I agree with everyone who recommends herbal teas. Personally I love Jasmine tea and Good Earth Original, I don't need honey or any type of sweetener. I carry extra tea bags in my purse and use the hot water at restaurants or hotels when they don't have the kind of tea I like.
