Summer is almost over and it will soon be time to head back to the classrooms! As I am sure it is with many of you, there are so many temptations at my school. I really need some low-cal snacks that I can keep in my classroom. I do have a refrigerator and a microwave in my classroom. Any ideas for some low-cal snacks to help this easily-tempted teacher?

Yeah!  Soemone is out there.

I'm heading back this morning to greet our incoming kindergarten students.  I"m a bit concerned about the temptations at school.  Especially since we do have an in classroom snack everyday.  I'm going to pack my refridgerator with the fresh fruit that I really like.  Hopefully, that will help.

I teach first grade and we do classroom snacks everyday, too...like potato chips, cookies, and all of the other sweet, unhealthy, YUMMY temptations out there! I just have to be really strong. I will surely have to build some will-power!!

Fellow primary teacher, the first week is almost done, and I've resisted the Teddy Grahams so far.  YEAH!!!

But, I'm starving at the end of the day despite healthy snacking throughout the day.  I'm not sure why going back to school has made me so hungry, but oh I am.  I've been running about 200 calories higher than what I was eating previously, but I'm still hungry.  Maybe it's the emotional eater coming out in me???

Keep strong.  Hopefully, yours don't cry for their mommies still.

Teddy Grahams, oh my! And the Oreos! Ugh! My students will start August 3rd. You are probably starving because you are burning so many more calories now that you are back working. We are on our feet so much and moving around so much throughout the day. Your body probably needs those extra 200 calories, plus some! I hope we don't have lot to cry. It is so sad when they do that. I hate leaving my own children when they cry at daycare, so I understand!

Try having some snacks with protein...keeps you feeling full longer.  When I was pregnant with my daughter I had gestational diabetes & was teaching at the same time.  I had to eat small meals throughout the day, many were pairing protein with carbs...it totally worked!  Some of my fav snax:  apples with pb, cheese stick or cheese & triscuits, almonds, homemade trail mix with craisins, raisins, & nuts, granola bar w/pb.   :)  I'm going back on the 26th....aaaaahhh!  good luck with your year!

Well, today was our first full day back!  Collecting and redirecting brand new kindergarten students should qualify as an aerobic exercise.

It was a great day back, and the Teddy Grahams didn't even look appetizing to me.  Who would have thought.

Thankfully, I'm typically not hungry during the day, just once the kids are gone I'm famished.  But I do need to get past the eating when everyone else is eating social pressure, as well as making sure I have a satisfying snack that's within my calorie budget once the students leave.  I think I'll take your advice about the carb/protein mix.

Oh well, I'm just jazzed that day one went so well.  No crying - it's a first!!!!!!
