Good day to everyone. I am a 31 year old 6th grade teacher from Texas. I am trying to loose around 40 lbs and I only started at the first of the year. I think that it is important for us teachers to stick together for support. If anyone out there, any age, any gender, wants to lets start being there for each other.

Great job Mudmumm!!! Keep up the good work! Smile

OK, so here's my rant for today.

For the second time this winter, we have come to school, no delay, through horrible snow, only to have the district decide to close the elementaries. So now the middle and high school will AGAIN have to deal with parents coming all day long to pick up their kids. Students in the hall on their (forbidden) cell phones. And the irritation of knowing that we risked out necks to get to school, when anyone could have looked at the radar and watched the weather reports and KNOWN that it was not going to be safe.

For two days in a row it has taken me over an hour of white-knuckled driving to slip and slide my way to work. All the districts on every side of my district had called delays. And are probably now off. Like our elementaries.

Yes, I can say at least my students (theoretically) are getting more education. But we all know that it will not be a very productive day, educationally.

OK, rant over.

Is this lucky or what!?  I was looking for a weight-loss buddy and typed in teacher and there's a whole group of you!  I am 35 years old, teach French Immersion at the Junior High level (Middle school in the US?) here in Newfoundland, Canada (east coast).  I am just starting today and have about 40 pounds to lose.  Looking forward to checking in with you all!

What are the two most beautiful words a teacher can here ar 6:00 a. m. ? SNOW DAY!

Hear hear!  (or is it "here, here"?  This is a group of teachers - settle this one for me, will you?? Wink)

I'm a high school science/biology teacher in southern Ontario.  The staff room and cafeteria are NOT my friends...  but my busy schedule tends to keep me out of those places.  Besides teaching, I coach girls' soccer and I am a staff advisor for our Student Council.

I've been teaching for 8 years - I spent the first one in Leeds, England, earning a few quid and traveling Europe.  The next year I was broke (obviously!) and moved back into my parents' basement and taught in my old high school.  I then found a position in a small rural community in the snow belt (hence my delight at the "snow day") and I've been at the same school ever since.  I was a little thinner when I started there! Wink

It's good to find you all!

I'm in the process of getting my credential at the moment. I lived in Colorado when I was in elementary school so I remember snow days. But I was born in Califonia and will always be a California girl. No snow days for me...sweet and sour at the same time. It's great to find other teachers here!

It's a snow day here! Gotta go work out, as soon as all the folks who have to work today (tee hee) get out of the fitness room.

Luck you!  Oh hey, good news...down 2 pounds since Monday...that's a little fast but I'll take a drop over an increase any day.

 Have a great weekend!

Tammi
