I so need to learn to not read the comments unfeeling, unthinking, ignorant a**wipes write on those kinds of pages.  They just make me want to hurt someone.

Seriously, heaven forbid that people just stick to mourning the loss of brave men and women...  How could we not also insert slurs about muslims, claim that the president has terrorist intentions, and accuse everyone who doesn't agree with them of being a moron?  I mean, isn't that what this is all about?

Remind me why I like to give people the benefit of the doubt again...  Sometimes this stuff makes me forget.

I didn't read any.  I loathe a great deal of humankind, so I try to avoid unsolicited opinions unless they're funny, like on TFLN.

 Because there are a lot of good, decent people out there.  Unfortunately, the others are allowed to spew their vitriol.

You know, I believe whole heartedly in free speech.  I really, really do.  I don't automatically think people are idiots if they don't agree with me.  I just don't understand why people choose to use certain forums to spew that crap.  It reminds me of the people who picket and protest at the funerals of soldiers (or anybody else for that matter)

It's not about free speech, it's about decency and giving a **** about your fellow man.

I agree.  I don't believe people should be silenced.  I just feel like the fact that you're allowed to say whatever you want isn't justification for actually doing such, and at the expense of others' feelings.

At best, I find comments like those you mentioned to be tactless, at at worst, toxic and malicious.

Exactly.  Just because you're ALLOWED to, doesn't mean you HAVE to.  Oh well.  Those tend to be, of course, the kind of people that you can't actually teach anything anyway.
