Team Awesome Headquarters
Come be a part of Team Awesome! Everyone welcome!
I just hope she can stay in the hospital a bit longer, you know? She needs to have someone keeping an eye on her.
yeah definitely. her friend that has been with her the whole time said the same thing. she told C she needs to just stay there and get better. but she's a stubborn girl.
i agree. it doesn't seem safe, mentally or even possibly physically, for her to be on her own right now. she needs the extra support.
It's weird, I like, wish I knew her, so I could try to help.
it sucks! i'm just glad i'm able to help out with the dog. at least she doesn't have to worry about her.
i wish i could too, meagan.

I'm glad you can do that too. I am grateful that Lucy has someone to care for her when I'm not around... I'm lucky to have a sister that loves my dog. That would be a constant source of stress for me if I didn't have a doggy safety net.
yeah, thats the source of my worries when it comes to eventually getting a dog.
it's really hard to find someone you can trust! that's why i'm so glad his daycare is so awesome.
Right? Cats are a lot more independent. They need people around to interact with them, of course, but if there's an emergency and you need to be gone overnight, they're okay alone with food and water and a cat box.
Lucy is actually able to stay by herself inside for quite awhile without issue, but Stryker gets very upset and anxious when he's outside alone, and destroys things when left inside without supervision... so Lucy has to hang out with him outdoors when we're away. This means both Sis and I can't be gone overnight, as we don't make the dogs sleep outside. Too cold. One or the other of us has to be home, or we have to take the dogs to the kennel, which of course we try at all costs to avoid.
doesn't his daycare get expensive though?
although i guess it's good, since he gets to socialize.
i assume lucy stays home with stryker during the day?
Yep, the two of them kick it in the backyard together.

i hear ya. i will leave envy on her own for a max. of a weekend. otherwise, i have a friend stop by and feed her, give her water, etc. and i assume envy gets a few pats and whatnot. she's also an especially independent cat. like i've said...she's passively friendly. doesn't cuddle, but sits next to me all the time (or on the back on the couch by my head...letting me rest my head on her tummy). but when i get home from the weekends away, i get an earful, and she follows me around purring hysterically. she definately misses me. :)
and i definately miss her. do you girls miss your dogs when you're away from them?
my parents actually managed to find a really good kennel for their dog. they only bring her there like, once a year, but the woman always remembers abby's name, and abby seems to really like her.
it is a little pricey, that's why he only goes two days a week. it cost $35 a week for that, so not toooo bad for the peace of mind and for how much fun he has.
i just like that they genuinely love him there. they all know his signs and stuff, and he can't WAIT to get in there when we go
Oh yeah, I miss Lucy SO bad when I'm away from her... and she gets depressed when I'm gone. My sis says she won't leave my room when I'm out of town, and ignores her when she tries to pet her or get her to play.
I definitely need a kennel like your parents', HLM. Since mine doesn't apparently like to feed their charges. Grrrrrr
yeah, when we first got abby, we had a negative kennel experience...she was never walked (even though we paid extra for that), and came home with a bladder infection.
this kennel has indoor and outdoor private sections for each dog. it's not glamourous at all, but she seems well treated when we take her back.
i would do lots of research, megs. and ask to see the entire premises. AND trust your intuition when you meet the owners...
That's so horrible about C, Jules (I finally got to catch up on journals). I can't even imagine what she's going through.
awwww I LOVE dogs :)
Good morning ladies.. Im back to work an im so swamped.. Just wanted to say hi and HAPPY FRIDAY :)

The place is my sister's veterinary hospital, where she's always brought Stryker. The vet is really nice - a small and large animal vet - and the staff seem nice too. The kennel itself is very country, and is like you described, large indoor runs with doggie doors leading to outdoor areas for each run. Everything seems great! It's just that when you bring your dogs home, and realize that the dogfood you sent with them was hardly depleted at all... that just sucks.
Hi Jaimie!
Yay, I get to leave in 50 minutes, Hailey has her xmas concert at school today :)
