Biggest Loser CHallenge PART 7 SIGN UPS:
http://caloriecount.about.com/forums/post/104 479.html
============================================= =======
Thanks for the motivation Papa -
As to the water - I have to drink lots and lots and lots or I'll dehydrate- I have a water retention issue and take 3 prescrip water pills daily - 160mg of Lasix, 100mg of Aldactone & 10mg of metolazone. If I miss just 1 pill, my ankles become cankles and my legs start getting really stiff - before this was under control, I could put on 20 lbs or more a day in water retention.......
WTF????
(hears a major crash from the other room and runs to find the puppy is playing with the new 3lb weight mommy got so she can do her phys therapy exercises -he thnks it's his new toy...........sigh.......)
I want to lose weight and get in shape because:
I want to be comfortable in my body again.
I want back the confidence I had when I was in shape before - Top o' The World!
I want to see me in the mirror - not my mother.
I want my outside to match my inside.
I want to be able to move and dance freely, without worrying about falling out of balance.
I want to be able to rearrange my home without having to sit down to rest every 20 min or so dripping with sweat.
I want that smell of "fat" to go away (I hate that odor)
I want to look HOT again -
I want to wear my skinny jeans and tops (I don't care if I just turned 49)
I want back the life I had before - It was a hella lot more fun than the current one.
Ok, I can honestly say now that my butt hurts. The spinning class is a very good workout, but now my but-tocks hurt. I ride my bike but the first time in this class kicked my butt literally.
Loladuvall - You are welcome for the Hans and Frans impersonation. You cradle robber you! Only jokin'! I only watched SNL when I could get away from Mom and Dad, they did not like me watching that show. Being from Arkansas my mom thought that SNL was not a show that a decent young man should watch. Little did she know that when I was in the Fraternity I would go through a case of Mickey's a night. Those were the days, eat and drink anything and never gain a pound! Yeah that came to a screeching halt when I hit 30. You know the normal sized clothes you talk about, I have tried them on and you know what I still like my XXX size shirts. I have never liked the tight shirts, but there are times for tight shirts and pants. You will get there then you will need to post some pictures of you in your (to take a line from a newer song) tight apple bottom jeans!
Kjmadill - You may have to wait a while to motivate your office, but here you are ALREADY motivating people. You do realize that right?! If not you do! I used to be the same way with the stairs but mine was after one flight! Now I can go hiking with my Scouts and make them have trouble keeping up with me! You will get there it takes time so DON'T EVER GIVE UP!!! I have learned that you can have any food you want to have you just have to have the will power to have just a single serving (which is normally only about a third of a restaruant portion). Get your food and seperate into thirds and take the other two portions home for lunch the next day! I have been living like that for two years now it is awesome because now the single serving actually fills me up. I have been asked to be the "Client of the Month" at the gym on base, but I told them that I would not do it until I hit the 100 pound mark. You will get there to!! So when do you want to go on our date! I'll take you out now, I just have to get clearance from the wife first! With your mindset right now YOU WILL NOT FAIL! If you ever think that is going to happen, email me, post here and I will personally help you through your tough time! I AM TELLING YOU RIGHT NOW YOU ARE NOT WORTHLESS! You were brought to this Family for a reason and I have your back anytime you want to go tell that ex of yours to kiss your a**, deal! The knee and back pain get better I promise, I am living proof. When we go on our date I will take you out waltzing how does that sound? (It's the only ballroom dance I know) Only catch is it has to be to country music. Ok, you are the third one in this Family who will have to post your bikini picture for me. From the sounds of it you already are the lively, rambunchous one. Curly red hair, you have my attention, and it would be the total package for me if you told me you had green eyes! And last but not least, I know I don't know you in person but guess what I love ya, you are part of my family now and nothing will change that. Keep ya head up and striving for your goals!!!! I am here when you need me.
Cristin - Two words for ya on the afternoon slump, POWER NAP!!!! 15 minutes and I am good to go again.
Ghostplanet - With the meds I understand the water thing now. That would not be a good thing to become dehydrated. The puppy is still real young from the sounds of it. I have two that are about a year old and they both think that all of Daddy's things are their play toys, including PDA and cell phone. (they both got whooped for that one!) You will be comfortable in your body again I have faith. You have to have the confidence now and it will only grow the closer you get to your goals. It takes time and will not happen overnight, but one day your outside will reflect your inside. I guess I am going to have to take you out dancing too then. I only dance to counrty so better get on your two steppin shoes or we can waltz too. The fat will melt away and you will not have to smell it anymore. I was thinking more along the lines of PHAT (Pretty, Hot and Tempting) but HOT works, and that will happen when you get into your skinny jeans and tops. The more fun you have makes life that much more enjoyable, but you can start that now! Enjoy your time at the gym, and in the kitchen don't make it seem like a chore, make it a game! That is what I do, I am competitive by nature and I go into the gym and find someone doing something I want to be able to do and I make it a game to outdo them, even if it is by 5 seconds or 1 more rep than they do.
Well, better get back to my wife, she is thinking I am writing to a new girlfriend or something. I just tell her that I am writting to my family and she is ok with that, somewhat. Later ladies!
Papa
Where is everyone at? I have not been on all day, and figured I would be coming into the forum and have a few posts to read. Well, I will check later.
Quote for the day:
STAY FOCUSED ON YOUR GOALS AND NOTHING CAN STOP YOU!
Papa
"puppy" is a 1 year 8 month old great pyr/anatolian mix. Constant bouncy puppy behavior and weighs in at about 70lbs and growing. My current Pic id is him sleeping. He body slams me for fun (I'm the alpha female) and if I try to smack his nosey, he smacks me back. I have bruises - he thinks I'm playing.
There is only thing that gets him to shut up when he goes on a barking spree (and I mean Hound of the Baskerville's bellowing) - the cat. The cat HATES loud noises and if baby mu does not shut up, the 8 lb cat will get in his face and start beating him with both front paws. It's hysterical.
I was trying to upload more photos but CC keeps telling me there is an error in uploading and to try again. It's just not working right now.
hi team! well the weekend is here again!! and it is suspose to be a beautiful one! so i will be outdoors alot.... i take advange of the nice days!! but i cant wait til monday!! i get my garden ready to plant monday!! yea!! i love working in my garden!! and i love the fresh veggies that i get out of it!!
well you all have a great weekend!! good luck and i will be on here when i can..... see you all soon.... have a great workouts!!
my goal for the weekend is to gets lots of walking in.... i can do this and you can do whatever you set your mind to do!!
Mornin' Everyone! As wildntaken has stated it is going to be a beautiful weekend. I will be out at the local Scout camp all day tomorrow, hopefully this time I will not get burned. I will be doing "Scout Cooking" that is all about how to keep it simple and fun so the Cub Scouts can help out. Then after that I get to teach "Dutch Oven Cooking" to smaller groups of people. I love a meal cooked over some good seasoned cast iron! The best has got to be some fried catfish or beans and hamhocks! If you have never had anything cooked on cast iron you are missin' out.
Wildntaken - When I get out of the Navy I may need to come visit you so you can give me all the secrets for keeping plants alive. I seem to have the proverbial BLACK thumb. I don't know if I give my plants to much water or not enough plant food. Yes, I do water them!
Quote for the Day:
If you go hiking and get lost, just remember that the moss grows on the North side of the tree!
Papa
papa.... my garden is ususally great!! tell ya what i do.... when i transplant my tomatoes, cabbage, zucchini, and whatever else in need to transplant, when i make the hole i put the plant in it, a little bit of water, and close the hole.... then i say "god i am planting these, now i need your help to produce my veggies" when i plant the seeded items, i ask for gods help on those too..... i dont use any plant food, or water them, or i dont use any chemicals. i just ask god to help it along.... and i weed it!! last year i had huge cabbage, one measured over 12" in diamater..... if you want to see pics, let me know and i will put them in my gallerey of pics. you mite be overwatering or too much plant food..... alot of your water comes from the dew at nite.... and another thing i do, is my hubby works at a filter plant, and he brings me home some of that material, and i lay it in between the rows, it helps keeps the weeds out and keeps it moist!! and another thing i do is..... i go by the almanac. if you get a almanac calendar, it will tell ya what to plant and when!! and i think that has a lot to do with how well it grows! i just do what my grandma taught me.... hope this helps!!! and if i can do it, you or anyone can!!
have a fun weekend!! i know i am!! and team 3 .... you all have a fun weekend too!!
Don't know if I will weigh tomorrow ( I am working tonight until 730 AM..get home exhausted by 930AM) Today I weigh 158.4 :) BUt I will probably weigh on Tuesday
Hope all are well I am just too busy to post much right now. HUGS
hello team! did everyone have a good weekend?? i did.... my hubby and i went fishing both days!! only caught baby ones though.
oh well we had a good time. and the bathrooms was like about 1/4 mile away! so i got in some walking and up hill too!! oh yeah, i got some sun too! yip i burnt today!! but it will turn into a tan, it always does!
now on to some help. i have been zig zagging my cals. for almost 2 weeks now, and i have only lost 1 pound. why? what am i doing wrong? on the days i eat low end of cals. the next day i am down a pound.... on the days i eat high end of cals. the next day i am back up a pound.... why? when i started counting cals. back in oct. my dr. told me to eat only 1200 a day.... so that is what i did and lost 20 pounds by christmas with no exerice! then i hit that wall. found this site and started eatting a few more cals. and walking. i gain some back!! and then starting dropping again. but only 10 pounds. now i am still stuck!! and cant figure out what i am doing wrong!! i have changed my white bread to wheat low cal., pasta to wheat too. but i dont have these very often.... my fat intake is 20 - 30g a day, carbs is about 50 - 60g a day, sodium is usually about 2,000g a day, sugar is usually high, about 75 a day but its mainly from fruit as i have a lot of fruit. protein is usually and 80g a day. sat fat has never been over 14 a day. and i dont consume trans fat. fiber is usually 15 - 30g a day. i have been walking just increased to a mile and a half.... everyday. i have a upstairs in my house, and i have been up and down them 10 times a day all at once. i do 20 squats, i stand and twist at the waist, 20 time each side, i ride a imagenaray bike, you know lay on floor and move your feet and legs like you was riding a bike, 10 pushups (all i can do up to this point) and the same with crunches. i do the leg lifts 20 each leg. i dont do any weight lifting. due to i am kind of scared to.... i have a couple of bad disks in my neck that is pinching a nerve and i need surgery dr says but i chicken on that too! so i am not suspose to repetive motion in my arms.
so with all that said, WHAT AM I DOING WRONG????!!!! should i go back to 1200 cals. like my dr said?? what??? HELP!! i got 70 lbs to get rid of yet!!
thanks team and sorry to go on and on! i just getting discourged and need this wall out of my way!! i will listen to all and go from there.
TEAM!!!! I worked last night, slept until 530PM, woke up and weighed--156.6!!!!!!!
Tomorrow-who knows but that is the lowest my scales have read for years!!
Just had to tell you guys........Just have to resist the urge to celebrate with food or blow it with sodium ...before tomorrow
Wildntaken- Glad you had a nice weekend! I LOVE to go fishing, I usually go with my son...those are good times!
Hugs!
hey team, i didnt loose any this week!
dont know why! zig zagging isnt working. sorry!
Hey team!
When I finally weighed in last it was 194.5!
You know what that means? I get my reward! 'Cause I've reached 195. Last week I was at 196 so yay!
Now, I must continue.
Other good news - I've decided, I'm only weighing in on weigh in days. I'm thinking the everyday weigh thing is acting as more of a downer. SO I'll check it out.
I'm sicky poo :( So I've missed the gym for a week and I didn'd supplement for at home exercise so...just lots of fluid.
So the other day I made my mom read this article on power foods that help you lose weight, it was about 4 pages long, so she had no excuse not to read it, and guess what? The next day the pantry, fridge, and freezer were packed with GOOD powerfoods! Amazing huh?
So now I have all kinds of goodies to have.
I decided that for the most part I'm going to work on being a planner. Meaning, I'm going to plan out what Im' going to eat. With my mom aware of the powerfoods, that'll help.
Also, I'm setting weekly goals to work towards a little bit everyday.
I'm on week 4 of my bodybuilder work out thing. I notice a little tone, but for the most part I'm STRONGER. That's not a bad thing at all,but not the original goal. So, I'm going to keep on it until I plateau, then I'm going to lower the weight and increase reps, to tone. Good plan? I hope so.
So for the most part I'm doing well. Yay!
Weighing in on Wednesday hopefully, so I won't forget.
- Jill
Well team, yesterday 156.6 -a new low--and sure enough weight bumped up today.
So I logged 159 today. Still that is 4.8 down from last week.
I am going to drink a lot of water today and hope to see 156.6 again hopefully on or before weigh in next week.
Good luck all!
Congrats team on a good week!! Extra congrats to ghostplanet & zinkity for making the biggest loser list!! ![]()
wildntaken - I'm sorry to say that I don't have much advice, it looks like everything you posted should be working for you. A can offer empathy because I know how frustrated I get when I'm doing what I should and it's not working like it is supposed to. Hang in there & hopefully you'll get some good ideas / advice.
austj020 - that is wonderful that your mom stocked the house with the good power foods!! It's nice to know that someone cares enough to help!! Congrats on reaching your goal, I hope you celebrated in a way that made you proud!!
Good luck on this week's weigh-in!!!

Sad Note From Jeremy: With Week 6 about 1/3rd of the people who originally signed up posted their weigh in. 3 more lbs til my next goal of 190!
If you look you'll notice the 3 weeks down, one week up trend that I have. I'm going to break it this time! It's that TTOM, which is the one week up thing that happens, but this time it won't take me 3 weeks to get back on track, or whatever it is...it will just keep going down.
Why? I'm thinking becasue of my attitude.
I recently realized I don't love myself enough. Which is a problem. In more than just the area of weight loss. It's like I'm doing everything for someone else, including weight loss. I never pinned down why I wanted to lose weight, 'cause I couldnt' think of a good reason. Then after looking at EVERYTHING in my life from a new perspective I realized why...
a) I want to be able to rock a bikini. So that I can look at myself in the mirror and go "Wow, you look hot". If other people think so, great, but I want to not criticize myself in a bikini. I want to know see all of the flaws, or rather to get past them.
b) I don't want to be the largest person in the picture with my friends. I want to be "normal" sized.
c) I want to look good on camera. I look GREAT in photos, but I mean video tape, film.
d) I want to shop in any store, for the most part. I dont' want to find something cute, automatically go for the largest size, go into the fitting room, see it doesnt' fit, and then leave dejectedly with my head hanging. I want to go shopping with my friends rather than saying "yeah guys, no Lane Bryant in this mall, so really no point in me going" or "Yeah, I'm going to go to the women's section while you guys chill over here in Misses/Juniors".
e) I want to eat food I enjoy without the fear that "this will automatically go to my hips"
f) I dont' want my weight to be an issue for the rest of my life.
g) I want to be healthy and strong so I can have a longer life and greater survivability.
h) I want to be happy. (which is possible without losing weight, granted, but when I lose the weight, I also want to gain a sense of self rather than lose me...you know?)
Hi Everyone!
Well done to all who have lost! I've been away for a few days, haven't gained, but still stuck at 176 where I've been for the whole of May! All I can say is "roll on June"!
CW - 176
austj020 - well done for the affirmation of your goals! A very important step - it has made me think too - I've been stuck for weeks now at 176, almost starting to feel that it is OK to be 176 - but it is NOT!!! I've been maintaining nicely, but at 30lbs too heavy! Got to get going again.
Have a good week Team, thinking of you all!
I havent weighed in in a while.
I had to spontaneously move and i havent had the internet.
sorry.
