austj-->  measure out a couple of servings of almonds into plastic baggies, they are great road snacks, but you have to control the portions of course.  Also try baby carrots, they keep really well, and apples.  Some beef jerky maybe, the low sodium kind.  also have water, so you don't get dehydrated, just make sure its not too much water so you aren't stopping every hour for a bathroom break.

Ohh I forgot too:

My friend and I did a road trip and we packed a little cooler with an ice pack and cheese, meat, buns, and mustard.  It was really great because then we saved money, and calories by not eating out every meal.

Week 8 is posted (team totals only again this week)

Hey everybody,

Things are back to normal finally.  Both kids are doing well now and fortunately the baby never even got it half as bad as my daughter.  The needle mark from the IV is gone from her hand now so she's not obsessing over it anymore and she's actually playing again and not scared of getting sick again.  Which gives me a little more time for myself.  Today I'm going to start the pilates back up.

I was wondering if anyone else here can't do the whole "moderation" thing.  One chocolate always becomes several for me.  At the beginning of the challenge I gave up chocolate and chips but all the time spent in the hospital with vending machines being the only instant food provider I started eating them again.  I refused to leave the hospital while my little girl was in there.  I hated to even leave her room.  Since I started eating them again, especially chocolate I find that I get this weird shaky feeling and I'm always thirsty.  Getting worried a little about diabetes.

So anyways I was wondering if anyone else had something they wanted to give up until the end of the challenge?  Mine is chocolate bars and chips.  We need to catch our second wind for the challenge!  We're back in first place again so let's really pull ahead now!

so losing little by little...

wildntaken - hope you enjoyed your fishing!

austj020 - hope you had a good road trip!

cutiepiemommy - so glad to hear that your little ones are OK now.  I most definitely can't do the "moderation" thing.  For me, it is a personality thing, I am the same with whatever I do - it is "all or nothing"!  Which is not very good when it comes to food!  At the beginning of this challenge I gave up my glass of red wine with my meal each evening, and my chocolate with my coffee at the end of the meal - they have both crept back in now - and have led to eating more in general.  I'll try to give them up until the end of the challenge!  It IS good to be back in first place again, my resolve has been flagging, but you have inspired me to fight back - THANKS!

Have a good evening everybody!

Cutiepie mommie--> I can NOT do moderation.. I am no good at it.  If there are chips in my house, I will eat the entire bag.  I can't keep ice cream or cookies, or sweets of any kind in my house.  If I buy a bag of cookies I will take 2 out, eat them, then I have to dump the rest of them in the garbage and dump soap or water on top of them, or I will keep eating until the bag is empty.  It wasn't worth it and I was wasting all that money, so I had to stop buying foods that I call my trigger foods.  Crackers are another one. I cant keep crackers in my house, because I can't stop at 6 or 8 crackers.  I keep going back again and again, and top them with cheese or meat, or pizza sauce,  I can eat an entire box or triscuits in one sitting... and then I feel sick!

This is part of the reason I am doing well living on my own, because I can control what I keep in the house.  I stock up on veggies and keep "treats" like yogurt and air popped popcorn around.

I cut out fast food last year, and it was tough, but I did it.  This year I cut out pop.  It has been especially hard, because I hate drinking tap water and at most restaurants the only other choice is sugary iced tea which I hate, or chocolate milk, but usually a two cup portion of chocolate milk (400 Calories!!!)  So I usually choke down water, or drink the chocolate milk and have chicken noodle soup if I go out to eat.

But don't feel bad if you can't do moderation.  Don't feel its a character flaw, or dont beat yourself up about it.   At least you know about it and can deal with it.  That takes great strength!

thanks! we did! but i have paid for it all week! i got a really bad sunburn, so bad i blistered!! feeling better this morning though...

have a great day all!!

letsgetitstarted-  I'm very all or nothing too, that's why I have to keep junk out of my house.  I'm glad to have inspired you, that's helps me a bunch too because now I have to stick to it!

kjmadill - I hear you, it was alot easier when I was living on my own and controlled everything that came into the house.  That's the only time in my whole life that I was the perfect weight.  Alot of restaurants have bottled water now.  I order that or white milk when I'm out.  I'm fortunate that I never really liked pop.  The only one I liked was the vanilla coke but I haven't seen it in a while.  I don't like the way my teeth feel after I drink it though so I never found the flavor worth it.

Well, I'll give up chocolate starting today.  Last night was just not good.  I cried from 6:30 last night until this morning at around 8:30.  At 10:30 Dean got me some Dove chocolates to relax me a bit.  With the help of lots of hugs and chocolate I was finally able to sleep.  Sometimes I just want to be a hermit because it seems that friends can be much more grief than they are worth.  As of this morning I've used this whole unpleasant situation to my advantage though.  I'm that much more determined to get to my goal weight, I'll have a better self esteem and I will get rid of all the friends that use me and make new ones.

Sorry about the rant and the lapse of judgment last night.  It wasn't too bad though because I was still within my calorie range.

hi everyone.  I hope everyone is doing well.

cutiepiemommy - I totally can relate to how you are feeling about your friends right now.  I was thinking last night that I really need to get new friends.  My bf is working out of town for a couple days so I guess I was feeling kinda alone.  My sister and her kids are in town and although it was great to see them I had a visual of what I could look like if I could just lose weight.  My sister is a little shorter than I am but she has to weigh like 80 pounds less than me.  She is a bit too thin in my opinion but still.  It is wierd for me to see what I could look like if I could just stop putting food in my stupid mouth and got my lazy butt to the gym.  UGH, I am in an awful mood, sorry.

I hope you guys have a good day.

157.6

bad bad bad girlCry

183.5  - up 3.5 lbs.

I also got a new digital scale.  I checked it against the old one and it was of by 1lb UNDER!

Unfortunately, I've been bloating up and down for 2 weeks.  I hate when this happens.  It may go away tomorrow, next week or when ever.

Sorry Team!

Weight 179.2

Loss this week: +1.2 lbs

(bought myself a new set of digital scales on June 1 and had a shock when I first used them - I was heavier than I thought!  I weighed 180.9! I have lost 1.7 since then so I am pleased about that)

cutiepiemommy - sad to hear you have had a bad time with some of your "friends". You are right to look for new ones if the current ones cause you nothing but pain - life is difficult enough without false friends!  It is great that you have such a supportive husband.

wildntaken - ouch!

Have a good week everyone!

Team-

I am having such a hard time getting it back together I am really afraid the next weighin will be bad again...one or two free days turned into a week and then two.  I quit drinking water and wasn't working out. I quit planning meals and then quit logging. I am really surprised how easy it was to lose it this badly. I am trying to get it back together. I miss you all ...I haven't been good at posting but have occasionally read the board and I don't see many posts from all of you either.

Blaynedrops...WOW!  Congrats

Congrats to all of you that have kept it together and lookout because it really can fall apart quickly if you are like me.

Zen - It's cool.  I understand how you feel.  No doubt.  I lose it ALL when I lose it too...my mind that is.

1st of all look at the positive.  You're lost about 10 lbs in 9 weeks, even after gaining 3.5 this last week (which by the way is water).  That's amazing!  I've only lost 5.5 in 9 weeks, which makes me think "What the hell is wrong with me?!"  But that's my issue.

The point is, you're doing GREAT!  we lose track sometimes, and keep in mind this isn't like the TV show.  This is life.  In life we don't work out 9 hours a day and have someone watching our every move (THANK GOD).

The good thing is that you look at what happened and you still want to move forward.  You want to correct it.  Trust me, that feeling is much better than apathy.

I'm struggling with apathy now.  I think because the wedding I was going to, I won't be attending any more...and I'm not going to see all those peopel I wanted to show off to.

That makes it harder right?  That means, I have to do it for MYSELF!  But that doesnt' mean I have to do it alone.  We are here together.

Blayne - Rock out!  Did you do anything special this last week to toss off 10 lbs?

Congrats Team Three!!!  And A Super Duper Congrats to blanedrops & zinkity!!!

I sense that at least a few of us (including me) are getting pretty frustrated that the scale isn't always behaving the way we think it should. BUT, I just want to point out that of the teammates that are still weighing in, every single one of us has lost something during this challenge.  Now, that is something to be proud of!!

Hang in there, your hard work will show up on the scale eventually!!

Austj020-Thanks...and good luck to you.  Maybe we can both get it back together today!!
