I'm having a good day today so far.

Thats great to hear!  To tell you the truth I have had a bit of a rough morning and lunch was not so great for me... I binged a bit and feel sort of depressed.

I had a great day!!! Sometimes it feels difficult to resist good things at the canteen but then it's worth it
My day's been good so far. I've eaten alot but everything has been low-cal and healthy. My main problem is my scale. I'll weigh myself, and then 2 seconds weight myself later, and I will weigh 3 pounds different!!! The scale is relatively new too!
I've had a decent day.  I went out to an early lunch and only ate half so I could save the other half for dinner.  I'll probably add a salad and some fruit so that my deficit isn't too low.  I walked my dog for about an hour today also. =]
Magnolia_blossom, I had the same problem with my scale though I weighed my self on one tile in the bathroom and then another on a different tile like 2 seconds later and came up with two different numbers like 4 lbs apart. I don't know which one to trust though i'm inclined to go towards the smaller number :). I did weigh myself on one of those big digital scales found in some public bathrooms. It told me i weighed 111, first thing in the morning with no food in system, and then the next morning on my home scale with no food i weighed 118. Weird
i had a sleep in so sort of had my lunch at breakfast time which shook my plan up a bit lol, but no biggie. :)
Don't sweat it over one bad day.  Let it go and focus on doing better tomorrow =]
oh wow, ure a freshman at UCF...i live in Orlano too =P

I was about to go there this year as a freshman too but instead im going into the air force :)

Hi all, I'm new here! Got something like 18 pounds to lose and no friends yet! So thought I would leave a message as its always good to have like minded people to help you out when losing weight and everyone seems friendly so far.

It's so good that lots of you seem to be having good days! I hope I can have one tomorrow on my first proper day of this new diet :) x

Hello!  How is everyone doing today?  Welcome to CC luthien_j!  Look forward to talking to all of you sometime!  I had a pretty good day at school today and I'm eating pretty well, so whee for me ^_^

I know this may sound repetitive and what not but you should be eating way more than that! Your body needs at least 1200 calories to just function! Be careful, your body could go into starvation mode, not to mention completely be screwed up medically just eating only 1000 cals or less.

I know I'm not the only one out here who resorts to eating junk when I'm feeling down about myself.  What do you girls do to avoid this?  Or is it okay to just indulge every now and then?

Hey, febreeze_09: You're definitely not the only one who does this. It's my TOM right now, and I've been binging like crazy (seriously -- about 300+ calories over each day). So first, when you do give in to the temptation, never feel depressed -- it will only exacerbate things. If you're going to eat something not-so-healthy, enjoy that single serving for all its worth, take your time with it, and move on to something healthier afterwards.

Usually, I'm pretty good about not binging though. Here are some things I've done  to some success:

-Dip the tip or pad of each finger on one hand into mustard or some other super spicy thing and slowly lick each finger. Really what matters is the methodical and minimal intake of very spicy food. You can do the same thing, but with super bitter food, like eating a little raw chard (gah!) or unripe grapefruit.

-Doll yourself up as a method of distraction -- give yourself a facial (you can't move your face to take a bite), try on different outfits, take a relaxing bath, try out makeup, etc.

-Go for a walk.

-Close your eyes and imagine yourself resisting your food cravings (seriously, this works. Imagining yourself going through the various steps for preparing for a test also can help you study!).

-Stretch -- it's relaxing, and it elongates your muscles.

Hope that helps!

Hey! I had a good day today and came in just under my limit... lately I've been wanting to eat ice cream, chocolate and other such things... I think that I tend to want to eat junk food more during the winter. I just want to eat more period, actually. Does anyone else feel this way?

Thanks Cetairla!

I'm definitely gonna try those

Dyyla, You definitely aren't alone.  I always want to eat more.  I can eat all day and not feel satisfied.  it's weird.  I usually just eat mini healthy meals throughout the day and low-cal snacks in between to trick my mind into thinking that i'm eating more.  Chocolate and ice cream are my two biggest weaknesses, but I found that Special K chocolate cereal is a good treat, and it helps me to not keep any chocolate or ice cream in the house.  (i'm too lazy to get up and drive to the store to get it!)

First day back to counting calories I stayed between 1200-1300 I think, probably closer to the 1300 end...tomorrow will be closer to the 1200 end. It must! Haha.
Glad to see some of you had great days, congrats!
And for those with the bad...tomorrow will be better!!!
<333

Ive had snacking issues the last few days... i do well all day long and then after dinner i just feel such a need to snack! i must practice some more self control -- tonight i am going to control my cravings

good luck everyone, and dont worry, 1300 is fine, playonwords! youre a teenager, you need energy and nutrients!!

If it's late and I have already met my caloric limit for the day..  I usually brush my teeth.  Food tastes bad when you brush your teeth so you don't want to eat!
thats a good idea actually, i have heard it before and though it sounded interesting, but have never gotten around to trying it!
Hey guys! I'm 17 and right now I'm just trying to maintain my current weight and learn some healthy eating habits. So good luck to everyone with their plans!
