teen girl recovering from eating disorder, need help.
-----ive had an eating disorder for the past year and have gone from 128 lbs to now 110. i havnt had my period for a year and im 5'7.
...i have accepted the fact that i need to gain weight, im freezing all the time and have every symptom listed for anorexics, brittle hair, dry skin, tired, insomnia, worn down, bony cold hands and feet, tiny wrists, etc.
i have been eating more for the past month, i actually used to weigh 104 a few months ago until i got very very sick and had ZERO energy, obviously, to do anything i used to love to do.
i was never 'bulimic' but have binged and purged around 5 times during my year of my eating disorder.
i have been eating very healthy around 2,000 or more calories a day, but when i DO gain a pound, i restrict my calories the next day and lose the weight, or take a colon cleanse pill or a natural fiber laxative.
i am having alot of inner conflict with gaining weight. i love being thin, but i would like to gain about 6 pounds give or take because i dont want to look emaciated and pale any more! i want to be healthy thin!
can some one help me?
i keep eating late at night and binging and it is killing me because i have lived for so long not eating more than 1000 calories a day. i just really need someone to talk to me who can relate with my situation.. i want my period back too... everytime i think about not having my period i go cry and then binge on food because i feel sorry for myself. then the next day my ED tells me not to eat. and i listen to it, and then i interupt it and eat and its like a big STUPID CYCLE THAT I WANT TO END.
PLEASE give me some advice!
someone that can understand where im coming from?
Hey you're doing a great job realizing that you need to gain weight and break the cycle, but you may need the help of a professional to lead you along the way. Second step, get a good doctor and dietitian.
I've gone through it, unfortunately, as well as many others. I think you would get more responses in the health and support forum so maybe a mod will move it.
I know gaining weight is a scary thought right now, but you will need more than 6 pounds to be healthy and get your period back. I'm not sure how old you are either, but a healthy diet and a period a very essential to bone health.
If you need me for a specific question or if you just need someone to talk to, you can message me whenever.
You can do it!
wow, ive never seen a post so similar to mine in my life. my names ashley, im 14 5'1 and 90 pounds. i have had anorexia since last september and i am so sick of it. at first, i was into the healthy weight loss but than became to involved in what to eat and what not to eat. i dropped down to eating 300-500 cals a day with 1 hour of excersise daily. i lost my period, got freezing cold, and completly frail. i get weird bruises and bafs under my eyes from malnutrition and i hate it. i eat around 1600-200 cals a day but it alllllll comes in at night. during the day, ed is right on my shoulder telling me i have to limit myself, but at night, i eat soooo much! i wouldnt really call it a binge but every single night i have an apple with a bag of popcorn and peanut butter because its my way of thinking im going to get my period back (peanut butter=fat(not like fat fat but my only source of fat during the day)) during my 300-500 restriction days, i would also take laxatives after eating hardly anything and have binged and taken laxatives as well. i have also accepted the fact that i need to gain weight, but never seem to take notice during the day. message me anytime if you wanna talk or anything and maybe, if you wanna, we can help eachother through this, one step at a time, and recover from this ed. its crazy how much we have in common hah, anyway, let me know if you need anything. some tips would be to have more fat intake for your period and cut out the laxatives. i hope all goes well
<3Ashley
