Around 100 lbs. 5'6" (5.5", but I like to round up. =P) And 1800 to maintain on days where I just sit on my butt all day.

i'm 150 5'2"- 17 &12- i eat 1500-1600 &excercize when i'm in the mood. probably 3x a week. ill do just 30 minutes of turbo jam. &other times i'll just walk around alot.

nice &slow is the way to go. :]

i can see this thread going to hell once the 800-calories-a-day teens come in.

Well I was losing on 1500 calories a day I got down to 119 on my spring scale, and 122.5 on my digital scale from 135/140. I then decided to up my calories to 1800-2200 and now I am at fluctuating around 126.6. I mean if I do go by the kidsnutrition and it says 1750 for inactive. 2080 for less than 1 hour. and then 2400 for about an hour, and then like 2900 for more than an hour. I am confused because aside from like the regular things i do a day, I do about 30-60 minutes exercise like;

Upper body, and HIIT/Cardio. Over 1 hour.

Walk/Jog - 30-45 min.

Lower body. 30 min.

Rest day - nada ;]

Repeat.

On school days though, I go to school for 91/2 hours a day, and I do about 6/7 hours in the shop working on cars so would that make it like 1 hour daily or more than one hour daily or like would it not even count? Haha. I am so confused.

I think I will do exactly 1800 calories for the next week and see if I lose, if not. I will drop it by 100? Lol. It is so confusing!

"I think I will do exactly 1800 calories for the next week and see if I lose, if not. I will drop it by 100? Lol. It is so confusing!"

That sounds like an excellent idea. Everyone's body is different; calorie calculators are just a rough estimate.  Try 1800 for about two weeks, and see if there is a change. (Remember about daily weight flunctuations)
But at your weight and height, you're at a very good spot right now. I suggest just working on toning up and staying healthy! =)

gosh dang! that kids nutrition page NEVER works for me!!! grrr! can someone plug in my stats i'm really curious as to what its going to say!

but yes, heather, i agree with the plan you have decided on.

it says that you should have 2132 daily; i am pretty sure that means to maintain though. it says for me 2083 though for less than 1 hour daily.

it really depends on how you define "less than 1 hour daily" or "1 hour daily" because i mean i could work my ass off in school and exercise after school and it could be considered only "less than 1 hour" or "more than one hour" so its hard to really say. thats what really gets me! because i mean if i exercise for less than 1 hour daily right,  and it = 2083 then thats to maintain i should be -500 which would = 1583. BUT if your considering my schooling part of it all you know then it would be 1 hour daily or more than 1 hour daily which is 2400 through 2900 which would be 1900 - 2400 calories i should eat. ITS SO FREAKING DUMB. haa.

Here the actual calculator not the BMI.

It says

For example, an average 53-inch-tall, 63-pound, 9-year-old boy who is a "couch potato" needs only about 1500 calories per day. But if he becomes physically active for an hour a day, his needs jump by a third -- to about 2000 calories per day.

so i am guessing inactive which would be like 1750 for us girls, would be couch potato. but if we start moving for an hour a day it will jump to 2400? and if we do more for one hour a day than 2900. BUT I STILL DONT GET IT! haha. i mean is it only talking about exercise? bleh. mofo.

I doubt that cauculator is correct. After all, not all exersizes burn the same amount of calories. Walking briskly burns 160 calories an hour, and yet breaststroke swimming burns 420.

I eat 2,500-2,800 calories to maintain. I'm also quite active during the day, I avoid sitting at all costs (except to eat), and I have swim meets every morning, as well as weight training.

I am 18

5'8"

Currently 113 pounds, trying to lose some more weight because I am temporarily moving away this summer for modeling.

I eat a reasonable amount, enough to shed those extra pounds in time.

But when I used to be naturally at 107lb, I reckon that I took in about 1500-1700 calories per day.  Never counted calories until I started gaining the freshmen 15

Bah there are like A MILLION posts like this.

Currently I'm 5'4", almost 17 yrs. old, 118 pounds and intaking 1700-1800 calories a day to maintain (:

So 1700-1800 to maintain? How much to lose?

If your only maintaining on 1700-1900 then why have you told people you were LOSING on that much?

1800kcals, 15 (& 7 months), 147lbs, 5'2"

After looking at those calculators, I'm probably going to drop to about 1700 and exercise my socks off - I don't think I'm active enough. I can't believe I ever survived on <500 a day...

I'm 17 turning 18 soon , 5'8" and maintain on around 2,300 calories a day, sometimes more sometimes less. =)
maintaining on 2300....i dream of maintaining on 2300 calories you lucky lucky thing.

i'm 16 and 5'5 and weigh around 52-54 kg....weirdly enough..i eat 3000+ for 2 to 3 days.Others 4-5k calories..its during holidays la..now i try to eat lesser..

I'm 15, 5'6", 120 lbs., losing on a zig-zag plan of roughly 1400. :) I exercise probably three or four times a week, on average.  I'm trying to lose 2 more lbs. by the end of June.

I wonder if I should zigzag?

Like do 1800, 1600, 1800, 1700, 1800, 1600, 1800. Hm?
