Teens how many calories do you eat?
15, female, 5'7" and 110 lb.
Eating about 2500-3000 calories per day.
rivkaelaine: You absolutely do not need to lose weight. I could have told you this right off the bat, as I am only a year younger than you, five pounds heavier, five inches shorter, and at a healthy weight. That said, I plugged your stats into http://www.bcm.edu/cnrc/bodycomp/bmiz2.html (which is the website that people in this forum are constantly recommending teenagers use to calculate their idea calorie intake, etc) and it says that you are only two pounds above the lowest healthy weight for your height. It also says that the lowest number of calories you need is 1940, and that's if you're sedentary. If you're "lightly active", it jumps up to 2310. So I would suggest eating a bit more.
And since I'm here: I'm 15, female, 5'6" ish, and about 135 lbs. I eat anywhere from 1500-2000 calories on average...
I'm 18, 5'8-9, 143 pounds and I eat anywhere between 2000-2500 [recently, used to be 1800-2000 but trying to maintain. :)]
I'm 5'1 [and a half] and around 105-7 lbs
I eat around 1600 calories a day at the moment, but add more if I exercise.
After gaining over 30lbs on 3000 cals, my gain never plateaued...
so I tried to eat 1800-2000 a day for maintenance, but I just kept gaining and I freaked out a bit.
I didn't think teenagers could gain any weight on that little...
oh and I'm turning 16 in two months :)
If your body is underweight, it will 'hold on' to calories, making you gain on a small amount. Keep in mind that bmi is not always a good measure, and every body has a different natural set point. Maybe your body is still underweight for YOU, and is therefore holding on to whatever you eat to get to where your body wants to be.
swimfan, I've been wondering about over the last few weeks, but I'm too worried that if I gain more it will cause me to restrict. I don't really trust myself enough to not freak out.
I forgot to put that I'm 5'2 :P
I'm 13, 175 cm tall (5'8") and weigh 52 kg (115lbs).
I don't really calorie count, but I guesstimate that on an average I'd eat about 2000.
I'm 19, 5'3" and 158lbs
I eat 1500-1700 calories a day
Im 16 years old, 5'4", and around 125 lbs. Havent checked in a while tho :P
and I eat approx. 3000 calories a day and more if I excercise.
I'm 5'1 weighing 130 .... and I have no idea how many calories I consume daily. I read that I'm suppose to be consuming 1,422 per day. I think I eat way more then that and then I have my days of where I eat almost nothing. I have a very athletic body too... and then this year I stopped doing sports and stopped drinking milk and eating so much dairy and I dropped 10 lbs! Not even thinking about it. It was pretty sweet. My goal is to get down to 120 by december 18th. Any tips? (Besides not eating anything until then.)
how accurate is that bmi calc? (http://www.bcm.edu/cnrc/bodycomp/bmiz2.html)
i'm 18, and it states that at 6'3" and 188 lbs I burn 3000 calories while inactive.
seems pretty wild considering I usually aim for 1800-2000 a day.

Then it would probably be a good idea to start eating more. You shouldn't have more than a 1000 cal deficit, and that's if you are looking to lose weight (and given your stats, I don't see that you would be).

Thanks for the advice. I was just sort of surprised since the CC tool spit out an answer closer to 2300 a day sedentary, and I'd been going off that as my guide.
I'll definitely be upping my calories esp now that I'm taking up running ^^
Why can athletes eat so much?
Athletes need adequate calories to offset those they burn in training and competition. They eat to either maintain their body mass or gain muscle... Read more
