TEENS!!!! How many calories do you eat per day??
I made a post asking the same question a while back: http://caloriecount.about.com/forums/post/514 31
To answer your question, I'm 16 and don't do much exercise as I'm trying to gain a few pounds.. but to maintain around 100 pounds I intake about 1600 calories a day.
I'm 17, female, 5'7", started out at 159 lbs. in August, CW 143, trying to get to 130 by April!
I generally try to work out in some way once a day, I go to the gym probably 3 times per week, and do yoga or pilates DVDs on the days when I don't go to the gym. This is kinda inactive for me, during the fall I run 6+ miles 5 days a week on my cross country team, but since my season's over I'm trying all kinds of new exercise...
I *TRY* for 1500-1600 kcal per day... I think my daily average for the last week was a little over 1700...
I've calculated that I burn about 2100 just going to school and doing whatever, and when I exercise it generally jumps up 100 (for yoga/Pilates) or 500 (hard workouts at the gym) and I try to compensate for the hard workouts with an extra slimfast or protein shake or something. Then I still get an extra 300 kcal deficit for the days I work out, but it keeps my energy up and *I think* helps me build lean muscle! I try and keep my deficits around 500-750 because I don't want to slow my metabolism by shocking it into starvation mode with too low a deficit!
Good luck with whatever fitness/health/whatever goals you have!
I'm sixteen, a girl & I eat 1200-1300 a day.
(Absolutely no exercise, haha. )
Just a note: teens should be getting at least 1800 a day. They also should be gaining weight. If you never gain weight, you'll never grow. So don't een try to "maintain" your weight at a specific number because you'll end "maintaining" your height and never growing.
That's not to say that you should gain tons of weight. But usually, you have to gain a few pounds before you can grow.
- Female
- 18 years old
- 5ft8inches tall
- 117lbs
- I consume 1900 calories to maintain
- But right now im eating 2300 to gain weight
- i exercise (cardio & strength training) 5-6 times a week.
Not due to dieting..
I just really like to eat.
Im 19 and i am trying to lose like, 30 lbs at least. being a mom of a 2 year old and a 3 month old, it is had to find the time to eat right and exercise as much as i would like.
i was taking in 800-1000 calories a day, but just tonight i learned that that is why i have not been losing weight. i thought less was better, but i guess not. finally, i know why i am not losing weight this way!
I'd die ..
Not healthy woman !
Try at least 1500.
People say 1200 but that's all starvation nonsense.

yeah seriously. I agree.. I mean, you need 1200 for your body to function..and teens claiming they're eating enough because they eat "at least 1200 a day" and don't exercise are in need of some disillusionment!
I eat anywhere from 1800 to 2300 cals a day, I am 117lbs and 5'5. I work out 3-4 times a week, as well as lifting weights, dancing and yoga. If I eat 1700cals for a few days, I tend to lose weight. Thats why 1800 cals is a good number to maintain.
If you eat right, and have plenty of veggie, fruits, nuts, good fats and workout 3-4 times a week, or 30 minutes a day, then thats heathly.

I eat about 1800cal/day. I'm losing 1lbs a week to get down to a healthy weight. I don't do any intentional exercise, but I am on my feet a lot at work. :) I'm fifteen, female, 5'6-5'7, and currently 179lbs.
