Teens & Calories.

Stats: 15 years old, 5'7" 112 pounds (Yes, I realize it is a bit low, I am working on that.). Mostly Sedentary.

Are all teens really supposed to eat at least 1500 calories just to maintain? I have trouble reaching more than 1300 which is my daily goal. Judging by my stats does anybody know of an ideal calorie intake for me? I have used the tools and read some of the other similar posts on the forums but I am still a bit confused.

- Any input will be appreciated. Thanks =].

Look, you are not a fatty. 137 lbs is not much, especially not since you work out, muscles weigh much more than fat. And I would say so, 1500 is just fine with your level of activity. I'm a boxer and I eat about 1600 a day, I work out for about 2 hours a day, but I gotta lose weight to drop down one weight class. I weigh a lot, but I don't look like I do.

Surprised You are a BOXER and you only eat 1600 a day?!!? whoa!!! well, i guess because you need to LOSE WEIGHT, that's why you only eat 1600 right? yeahhh.. i don't like it when they think i don't weigh as much and are like, "you weigh a bit over 50 kg right?" and i just have to bitterly tell them, "yeah... only 62 kg"  hah, well in reality, i don't tell them exactly my number lol

i remember the days when i would eat an entire box of cereal and be hungry ten minutes later. unfortuantely, my metabolism is not THAT fast like yours sounds anymore. :)

I don't calories but I'm well aware it's over 3000.. =O

I admit it , I like to eat.. but at least it's healthy!

Turning 18 next month.  5'3" female.  I aim for 1300 calories per day but usually I go over - to maintain i'm supposed to eat 1500
