Teens: what did YOU eat today?

I'm kind of copying the oh so popular topic found in the food forum. This is different, though: for teens! I think it's pretty interesting to see what we teenagers eat, and this will kind of give the chance for teens to see what other healthy foods they can add to their diet.. I sure know that my diet needs improvement XD

Oh, and the same rules as the one in the other forum applies.. especially do not post if you are not eating enough. Nobody wants to see it, and you're only hurting yourself in the long run; believe me, I found out the hard way.

I'll start!
breakfast: cheerios, a yogurt, & and orange
lunch: a turkey sandwich (i love low carb bread! really.) an apple, another yogurt, &wheat thins
after school: a peanut butter sandwhich on whole grain & an orange
dinner: probably light soup & a salad or something!

don't be shy XD

IM GOING TO TRY ORGANIC FRUIT!! I've been very curious about it. I love organic foods anyway. <333 +++ PB&Co, I don't know them very well, but I LOVE THEM.

i haven't really been counting calories for the past few days. i haven't binged or anything though, so all is well.

When_I_Fly: I didn't want to mention, but yeah. You're pretty light on fats. You DO have nut butter and such in your menus from time to time but not an awful lot. And soy does contain some omega-3's but it shouldn't be the only source thereof. Maybe make your vinagrettes with some olive oil, or do a stir fry using it, or roast some veg with it; make a PB sauce to go on noodles (Tan Tan Noodles from WHFoods - take out the honey or switch it for agave nectar and it'll be vegan) or make nuts the protein in a dish... avocados, seeds, all that jazz.

i do put olive oil in my vinaigrettes. (isn't that the way they are supposed to be made? i didn't know of another way.) and i use it in stir fries and on fingerling potatoes sometimes.

but i no longer stick to a vegan diet. i eat fish and eggs. which i suppse makes me an ovo-pescatarian? i've eaten honey for probably the last 6-7 months as well. so i do eat some fats from fish but not all too often. i have been mostly eating shrimp when i do eat fish which is pretty low in fat. :(

i love nuts!!! i love love love almonds and pistachios!! but nuts are so expensive. i eat them when i can.

i have recently been adding more avocados in my diet but i should really work on eating more. especially since my skin gets so dry in these michigan winters. i will work on it!! :)

thanks for the suggestions. :)

breakfast
three egg omelet w/ tomato, mushroom, red pepper, onion and garlic; slice toasted whole grain bread w/ earth balance; couple wedges grapefruit; couple sips orange juice; coffee w/ soy milk

snack
black coffee (at the library to fill out forms. taxes again!?!?! gahhh. i should just stop paying my federal taxes.)

lunch

tomato, onion, organic baby greens, red pepper, avocado, veganaise and spicy mustard on whole grain bread; grape fruit wedges; baby carrots

dinner
tba

snack
drinks tonight. :)

plan for tommorow- (my eating has been over the place yesterday and today since i was drinking, going to this gala they have in my town for high school students, and like didn't sleep at all last night, so slept basically all day today lol, so tommorow!)

b- almond butter, banana, skim milk and ice smoothie and dry kashi heart to heart

s-coffee with no sugar added chocolate soy milk, cocoa powder, vanilla extract

l- toasted multi-grain bagel with hummus, lettuce, tomato, red pepper and cucumber, two clementines, asparagous steamed with olive oil and vinegar

d- lentil soup, salad with crunchy lettuce and dressing, sprouted grain bread with smart balance

s- steamed skim milk with nutmeg

Can I ban the word binge from this thread? :[ Lol. I hate seeing girls and guys who're usually so positive speaking so negatively about a small slip.

When_I_Fly: Eh, I've known people to use vinegars and not any oils. Or a less healthy oil. Fish and eggs are EXCELLENT fat sources; eggs naturally contain omega-3s but this is in the yolks, and then oily fish... yes. Needs to be more salmon, tuna, sardines...

Tuna and avocado go together well. Perhaps you could emulate something similar to what I had for dinner yesterday? Tuna burgers with avocado (or guacamole)? Still, go with what works for you.

Tinasaur: Organic fruit is pretty tasty. I love dried organic apricots, usually because they're not sulphured (which is what keeps a dried apricot orange; organic dried apricots, if you look, are usually a dark brown).

argu: Thank you so much for your support. It's hard for me because I'm more petite than most girls (4'11") so I can eat a lot less than them. I know we all go out and party and burn calories but it's just too much for me, I have never effortlessly maintained my weight and I'm not going to start now just because my friends can, you know? I gained over 10 pounds first semester while trying to diet.

When I Fly: I find avocado goes really yummy with anything salty. It's my favorite thing to add to sandwiches and I really like avocado on boca burgers. I have fat problems too (not getting enough). I also like to eat hummus as a small fat source

For dinner there was no chicken breast so instead I had "cottage cheese salad" with 1 cup 2% cottage cheese, 1 cup cherry tomatoes, a half a cup of chopped peppers, and a half cup of kidney beans all mixed together - it was SO MUCH FOOD. Really good too

Plan for tomorrow:

Breakfast: serving of oatmeal with a cooked in banana and 1/2 cup fiber one

Lunch: Chicken breast with 1/2 cup cottage cheese and tomatoes

Snack: 1 cup kashi golean crunch cereal

Dinner: 4 egg whites, 1/2 cup kidney beans, and serving of hummus

Snack: 2 light beers (Superbowl party)

When I went to the store to look at what kinda eggs were available there were all different kinds. One of them was a super omega-3 egg. It said it had 18X more omega-3s than a normal egg!!! I just kinda wondered to myself 'wow, what do they feed their hens?'.

I ended up getting these vegetarian fed organic ones that seem pretty good. But I also thought while studying their package, 'vegetarian fed? aren't hens herbivores? of course they should be vegetarian fed!'.

Kinda freaky the kind of stuff that is out there.

I'd like to eat more salmon but I can't always afford to buy it. :( I'm not sure how I feel about tuna yet. I guess I haven't learned enough about it.

I love both of those things. I just don't eat them very often because I spend too much money on produce and bread and the like. I guess I always concidered them extras but I really shouldn't. My fat HAS TO come from somewhere.

Thanks for the suggestions. A boca burger with avocado sounds really good. Or better yet, a boca spicy chicken patty!! yum! :)

Breakfast: Honey nut cheerios and milk

Lunch: a salad with chicken, shredded cheese, and organic ranch, Silk chocolate soy milk

Afternoon snacks: fiber one bar and an apple

Dinner: steak with a baked potato with cheese

Snack: white cheddar Cheez-its and chocolate soy milk :D

When_I_Fly: If not tuna for the time being try sardines. They've a low mercury content for fish and are in abundance and sustainable. In tomato sauce, they're particularly nice. Sardines on toast with avocado and tomatoes = <3!

hopefully someone will correct me if i'm wrong but i think that almost everyone here is a teen. i'm not and i think lala isn't. agruskin isn't a teen as well but she doesn't really post here. i think there are a few (or possibly more) people who just like to read this thread and will comment from time to time.

your day sounds really yummy. i wish there was soy string cheese. :(

haha, im 25!  lol, deff not a teen but, i still like kid type foods and having had an eating disorder in my early 20s, well i missed out on eating all that good stuff so i suppose eating- wise ive stalled and still like that sort of food.
