So; What Do You Teens Do For Exercise?

Quote  |  Reply

I go on walks most days (recently it's been hard with this, like, EPIDEMIC of homework!) with my dog for about 55 minutes.

And then almost every day I do a Pilates session that lasts about 30 minutes.

What about you guys?

I walk about 25 miles with my neighbor's dogs and my dog over the week, which takes about 6 hours and 15 minutes in total.

I ride my bike 90-120 miles per week...it takes me 90 minutes to go 20 miles, which is my ususal ride length.

I work on a christmas tree farm 2 or 3 days per week, which involves some weeding, digging, planting, mowing, sweeping the sidewalk....along with the occasional light jobs like trimming the trees or driving the tractor.:)

Lastly, I do 30 minutes of strength training 3 days a week (I try to at least...I hate strength training, but I'd really like to be capable of lifting heavier stuff at work).

I also might mention that I rarely sit down. Apparently this is very hard for most people to do without their legs going crazy. I hate sitting. My butt hates sitting. I'm not even sitting now. >_< Haha.

Once it gets cold outside, I'll be putting my bike away and finishing up my farm work for the year. I will then have a yoga-fest...perhaps with some stationary biking and extra walking thrown in.;)

  • I walk around the block with my dog [or without]
  • I go to soccer practice every thursday
  • I play a soccer game every saturday

I'm not that active..i'm trying to work on it. ;]

I aim to swim two to three times a week, for half an hour. I do weights three days a week. I walk to college on weekdays, to and from, which is about three miles total a day. And I have to eat all I burn back. P: Lately I have given myself a rest because I have been tired/a bit down/unwell, but I plan on getting back into things again. I like having a little bit of exercise in my life but realise, compared to what I was like before in overexercising, I do not need to go bananas and the world will not end if I take a little time off!

I run about 3 miles, 3 times a week. (I'm training for track in the winter). In between the days I run I try to do strength training for at least half an hour, even though I really don't like it but I always feel great afterwards. On the weekends I like to go on walks for about an hour in addition to exercising, and I have cheerleading practice 4 times a week after school and we have games on friday/saturday. In our school we have a really nice gym with treadmills so whenever I can I try to get in a little more exercise there too.

I started doing P90x 29 days ago. I lurve it. I do that 6 days a week.

I go see my friends at a park near this elementry school, fair distance away.. I bike or walk there. When we're there our activities range from hanging out to playing tag or four square. I do this five days a week. I'm usually up there at the park for nearly two hours. XD

If my friends are out of school for that day, or I just don't feel like seeing them, I'll go for a walk or a bike ride around the neighborhood for an hour.

From time to time, I'll dance. These days I don't have much time for dancing, but when I do, I'll either be a dork and freestyle, or be a dork and try to learn belly dancing or samba. :3

I also have a treadmill which I'm planning on using when the weather gets uber cold.

I used to do upwards of 10 hours of ballet a week over the summer but my class count has gone down a lot since I have to get a portfolio ready for college. i stretch a lot every day no matter what, and i walk a lot.

I strength AND cardio train at the gym 4 times a week,

walk around my school campus,

go up and down the stairs when we switch lessons (6x a day on a 4 story building).

Oh, I ADORE dancing! I can do it at any moment of the day. I'll dance to any songs on the radio. It just needs a beat, and I'll dance on it :). 24/7

Right now I am not getting that much really active or high intensity exercise cause I am trying to gain a bit of weight. But usually I have soccer practice 2-3 times a week, one of the practices is usually endurance training, the other is skills work

play a soccer game every saturday, also sometimes on Sunday for tournaments, depending on the season

P.E. every other day, which at my school means laps around the track, a sport like volleyball or basketball (ick, I don't like any of the sports we have to play)

field hockey in the spring, 3 pratices a week with a lot of running

and I walk my dogs, do some stationary/regular biking, random pushups and other strenghtening exercises when I feel like it

I don't really have a specific "exercise plan" but I LOVE running and being active, so I move around a lot

Oh, and my dad is gonna sign me up at the gym once i get to 105 lbs. so that i can do some weight training and endurance stuff to improve my soccer

I go on short, 30-45 minute walks (if I have the time - I can spend up to 11 hours at school, then there's all the homework and studying)  - 3 days a week

I use my exercise ball and 6.5 pound weights in the afternoon - for around 30 minutes - also not every day, but at least 3 days a week

Then there's all the normal walking that I have to do to get to school and back
and all the running up and down stairs at school (in a 5  story building) + the 2 hours of PE on fridays (usually running, volleyball, sometimes basketball or gymnastics)

I do some form of excersize every day, I try to be EXTREMELY active. For example, today I will do a lot of walking around my college campus (I go to a school with a humungous campus located on a large hill, from the lowest point to the highest point -where my dorm is - there are about 10 flights of stairs). Whenever I come to the stairs I try to jog them. I'm in dance organization on campus and take class 4-5 days a week. Today I'll be taking two classes at the gym. One will be total body conditioning and then I'll take hip hop. The first will be strength and the second my cardio.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays I don't have class until 12 so I wake up earlyish and to to the gym, which is a 15 minute walk. I'll do either one or two work outs - either I'll elliptical for 30 minutes and lift weights for 30 minutes or I'll do what I consider circuit training. I'll do 10 minutes elliptical, 10 minutes heavy calisthenics (I'll do a couple weighted squats but it's not quite heavy lifting) and repeat that 3 times.

I live in New England but I love to rollerblade and when I can I'll rollerblade for about an hour. That's time consuming though because to get to the place where the path is I need to take a shuttle and it's not really safe to rollerblade there. I guess I could walk but it would probably take an hour in and of itself.

When I call my parents or friends from home, I don't sit in my room, I walk through campus.

When I'm out with my friends I always try to dance - even if it's not a dance party. There will always be music on and I'll lightly bust a move :-P

Sometimes I play toss the frisbee or football with my friends if I'm bored.

I guess I'm a pretty active girl :-P

Oh and I (started today) also walk up and down my stairs. You could call that excercise? xD

Let's see...

Every other school day, I have weightlifting class for 90 minutes.

Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays I do only strength training at the gym for about 60-75 minutes.

Tuesdays I do kickboxing for an hour.

Thursdays, sometimes Fridays, and Sundays, I do spinning for an hour, and sometimes I lift after too.

starting next month basketball practice twice a week, and games 1 or 2 days a week.

atm : stationary bike, stairs, jogging a bit, and weight training

but i usually only get time to do things 3-4 days a week with work & homework.

I do 90 minutes of dancing 4 times a week, and weight training and conditioning the other day, plus on some days i will add in 30 minutes on the elliptical. on weekends i hike and do the elliptical. plus i walk around my school campus a lot... it is really hilly.

i have football practice 3-4 days a week for 2 and a half hours.

games usually on friday or saturday

and do weight training 2 times a week ( hour long sessions )

im going to try and play DDR for at least a half-hour 3x a week or more, depending on what my schedules like.  i can also walk to and from school if i want to [weather permitting]

Monday/Wednesday/Friday: Sprinting/jogging intervals or burpee/10 second rest intervals until I cannot continue.

Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday or Sunday: Full body lifting routine

Always try for maximum intensity.

I usually bike. Smile

And do weights.

Wow - I feel so out of shape compared to you guys!

I run 35 miles a week over four days (10, 9.5, 8,7.5)

I do about 90 minutes of alternate cardio for two days a week (stairmaster, elliptical, swimming, stationay bike)

I strength train two days a week for an hour with a personally trainer.

I also walk alot (school, with friends etc)

I have a rest day once a week as well.
