It may just be personal opinion but I think 14 is way too young to be dieting without medical advice....
Honestly check with your doctor and she'll give you awesome tips, I did.. and she told me things I'd never think of.
Well I'm 18, 5'6, I weigh 125 and I'm going down to 115... it's great..
And for exercise, I use the Carmen Electra workout Disc 2.. (It's all toning.. really awesome full half hour work out).. I use equipment occasionally....

i am dieting with medical advice. it was my doctor that permitted me to lose the 20lbs and she's the one who told me to eat no less than 1200 cals a day and to have at least 30mins of physical activity each day. so i have the doctor's support and she's monitoring my weight.

hey frogsinthefridge, wow! you've lost 20lbs. thats what i'm planning to lose by christmas. ur so inspirational. yeah, my friends and i are going to join track but its in the spring. i want something to do now. maybe i'll try jogging again. i used to love doing it first thing in the morning cause it got me feeling good for the rest of the day but i started making excuses not to do it(too early, need more sleep...etc). i think i should start it again. i was 124 in the summer but i went on vacation and blew back up. it sucks!!! i'm determined to get back down to the 120's or lower and stay there! oh yeah, also get fit. =D

so i've basically been slowly losing weight since i started school (lost 2-3lbs the last month or so). i got to this site when i was 143 but i was 150 at the end of the last school year.

I'm currently 134, last year I was 145 at this time. I'm 5'6, and my ideal weight is 120 pounds. I'm currently a size 6 sometimes 4. and I would like to be a loose 4 and preferablly a 2. I plan to lose 10 pounds by december 19th! I hope I can stick it out.
I'm not very good at running, but I bike to and from school everyday, which is a half hour each way (so 1 hour of biking overall) and I usually go on a 20 min walk in the evening. I want to start up pilates again, weight training, and ab workouts. I just find it really hard to put in the time with school, because my schedule for school is quite extreme!

m1zk0 i am BEGGING my mom to buy me a pilates tape. what exactly IS pilates and what does it do to your body?

Well congrats on your weightloss thus far, very impressive and motivating! I do pilates at home (or did) and I used this video called pilates for dummies (the dummies collection of books and videos) and it was very helpful for beginners. Once I felt that i had progressed past the beginner point, i searched online for intermediate pilates moves, and found them quite easily. I recommend tapes if you can learn things quickly (exercise wise), but if you have a feeling that you won't be able to get it down and do it right, i would recommend trying a class for a few times, then after you perfect your skills you'll be able to do it at home well! good to hear from you

god, i hate the weekends. why does everyone have to have so many parties on the weekend. for me, party = food= forgetting about being healthy= feeling miserable. so glad there's school tomorrow. it's so easy to control my diet when i'm busy with school.

homecoming game was tonight! i had been so good but i ended up having nachos with cheese. it then ended up in the toilet. i feel so bad but i had to do it. i couldn't let it stay in me when i'd been doing so good today.

I'm 17, 5'6", 118ish pounds (fluctuating from 115 to 120).
Before I was this weight, I would run a lot, and DDR, and do a budokon video (you can get tae bo instead, that's great, and hilarious!) pretty much every day.
Now I'm much more lax, and I only run a mile a day.

I am 17 and 5'5" and last year around May 4th I was 164 lbs I weighed
in this morning at 139 lbs. I've been plateuing for over a month
and the scale just wont budge! (Im hoping that I go down soon though
because I might be holding on to some water weight from my period).
Its weird I look at all the 5'5" girls who weigh close to around what I weigh and everyone looks so much skinnier than me! its weird.

i'm 5'5 too and the same thing happens to me. i see girls who weigh more than me but are the same height and it's so weird. maybe it's because of the fat placement or something or muscle weight(muscle weighs more than FAT)

Yeah, when someone weighs more than you but looks more toned, it's due to their muscle mass compared to how much fat they have in their body. A 120 lbs girl without a defined body could look bigger than a 130 lbs girl with a defined body. Muscle weighs more than fat. ;) I, for example, have a lot of muscle. They're literally bulging out my skin (I'm really active and I've been weight training for a few months now. Plus I gain muscle super easily). People always miss my real weight off by at least 20 lbs. If I was 160 lbs by now, I think I'd be ripped lol! So yeah, that's all it is. Muscle.

hey lilydream35, i'm 14 and 5'5 too! but i've stopped growing, according to the doctor so i can diet without worries about stunting my growth.
but i don't like calling it a diet anymore because it makes my friends think i'm starving myself. i'm just eating healthier and trying to get more nutrients into my body so no more junk food or fast food crap and i stick to wheat bread and healthier versions of the fattening foods i use to eat.
ever since i started calorie count and i tell my friends that i jog in the morning or i don't eat junk food anymore, they always look at me weird and ask me if i'm on a "diet"(tell me: do u have to be on a diet in order to eat healthy foods? geez). sometimes it annoys me how teens people expect u to be thin but they think it's weird if u exercise and actually watch what u eat. god!
P.S- so far this week, i've been waking up early to jog. i'm supposed to do 30 mins one day, then 20 mins the next day but so far i've been doing way more than that(which is against my doctor's orders) so basically, i'm gonna jog in the morning everyday this week and then next week, it'll be every other day and the week after that will be everyday, and so on, and so forth.
