Hey! I'm a teen too and i know how that is. Life does seem to revolve around food, everyone puts soo much empahsis on food these days in the media, at home and at school. Food does make people happy but it shouldn't be the only thing that does. I worry about calories too but you need to stop obsessing about them otherwise you will go back to the old way you ate or be miserable. If you are depressed or frustrated try excersising which can give you an endorphine kick instead of using food, talk to a friend or do a hobby you enjoy. When you are happy enjoy yourself but think before you grab that doughnut or hot pretzel and ask yourself am i eating because i'm hungry or because of my emotion? Also do eat the ocassional junk food or sweets because you need to eat your favorite foods otherwise you will be unhappy and not stick to your diet(which should be thought more as a way to eat for life not to lose weight). Be careful though to eat a small porotion of these junk foods . It takes 3000 extra calories to gain 1lb, i doubt that a treat once in awhile will do that but a whole pie every day will. Also control your portions and believe me it will all work out, so don't get stressed over every little calorie and if one day you count them and find you were a little over thats fine. Forgive yourself and go on. Make sure you don't limit your porotions too much, as a teen you need alot of nutrition so eat a variety of foods as well. When eating take your time and think about what your eating and how full you feel. Stop eating 15 minutes into the meal and asess your hunger than eat if you are still hungry. Eat small snacks too to keep your metabolism up and blood sugar. Bottom line is if you are hungry eat, if you are not stop and don't eat for emotional reasons but don't make yourself miserable by excluding entirely foods you like and obcessing over every calorie. Being 15 is hard, do what makes you happy and healthy and remeber your life will not collapse if you forget to count your calories that day, but it will be harder if you are unhappy so good luck and i hope that i helped a little.
wow thank you so much for writing=)

It sucks, I know. I'm 18 and I've been more concious of my weight since I was about 13 or 14. It's hard to try and balance your life and trying to manage your weight. You want to think about normal teenage things, but weight related things take over.

Talk to your friends who really support you. I did, and it helped. If I start to worry about my weight or food, they'll usually change the subject or make me talk about something else.

I think once you hit your goal weight, it will be easier to maintain than you think. Just because you from trying to lose weight a young age you are a lot more knowledgable than you think, and because of that I think making healthier choice will just come naturally without trying....its just getting there thats hard. I too make meal plans the day before and like before Im even finished eating whats in front of me Im already planning what and when Im goign to eat next. I only have about 5-10 more pounds to lose and it is becoming harder than it is easier but over the past week i havent been trying so hard I havent been losing but I havent been gaining either so that makes me feel better that once I get down to my goal weight i wont have to be thinking about it all the time, and I wont gain.
i know how you feel, in class i'm always calculating in my notebook how many calories i ate so far and what i'm going to eat next and stuff, its hard.  it leads to binging for me too :(

we'll get through this.
uh wow i do the exact same. i always add up  my cals atleast twice a day. weirdd

me too!

from now on though im really going to try to crack down and get serious with my diet..someone else said they binge eat? yea thats me too.. i think one thing that will help me stay on track is thinking about how once i reach my goal ill never have to worry if my stomach looks big or if i need to suck in or something dumb like that.  We should not be worrying about these things!!! thats why i am going to loose the weight i want to get off of my body and start FEELING better

wow i just motivated myself alot haha hopefully it doesnt wear off as soon as there is temptation..
