Everyone I've started a new forum for us in the Weight Loss Fourm its called "Teen Forum: 19 years old and under". Here we can discuss our issues and goals. Well hope to see you there!

I'm 18 and I have some serious weight to lose (at least 60 pounds).  I was forced to stop playing sports when I was 12, and I gained A LOT of weight.  Then I started dancing, but I didn't lose any weight, I've just maintained it I guess.  I really want to lose weight to improve my dancing.  I have talent, but unfortunately gravity doesn't wanna let me do my best.  ;-)

My doc just told me that one of the most important things in weight is to eat your biggest meal of the day at either breakfast or lunch and your smallest at night. He said that people try not to eat right before bed or whatever because they think their metabolism is gonna go down, but actually he said they just dont know that your metabolism is already waaay slowed down by like 5, so he said dont have your carbs after that.

Also he said to avoid "low-fat" foods because he said theres only three things, protein, carbs, and fat, and what do they replace the fat with? carbs, because protein is too expensive. he told me to eat full fat yogourt and the rest of the stuff too.

Also he said, just sitting there burns 17 calories an hour. you know how much running does? 34!! thats all. and walking? more than a hundred! he says running is good if you want cardiovascular etc, but for weight loss, he says the best exercise you can do is walking.

lol sorry had a long talk with the doc yesterday, I've got a wealth of info to share. He's been a weight loss guru for 10 years.

 

OH also other interesting fact: he says in general, the first place a women loses inches with weight loss is her breasts, the LAST is her hips. Sucks eh?

running burns around 600 calories an hour, not 34. if you run a 10 min/mile pace, you burn about 100 calories/mile. running and walking are both good for weight loss, but running burns more calories and gets you in better shape.

That message really helped me considering I was worried that since I can't really run down the streets of philly with my daughter in the stroller in front of me i would be able to get in shape as easily but if walking is better, i do it constantly and would love to do it even more and will now that i know it's smarter.

Hi everyone, I'm 18 and trying to lose weight seriously for the first time.  I've told myself I was dieting before, but now I'm ultra serious about it.  I am darn determined and it's nice to have people to work with.

I'm 18, and i live on a college campus. i'm looking to lose about 20 pounds. i walk all the time, and it's done nothing for me. i have to walk like 20 min to my classes, and i lost some weight back and forth at first, but now im stuck at 145.

im 14, im trying to not have to suck it in when im wearing a swimsuit

so...around 5-10 lbs by summer

besides my stomach, the rest of me is okish though =D

15 year old here terribly over weight neeeeeeeed to loose 30 pounds trying to loose 5 or more before a vacation to tokyo
