Teens wanting to lose 25 to 35 lbs by Christmas

I'm 13 year old.  My starting weight is 160.  My current weight is 158 and I would like to lose between 25 and 35 pounds by Christmas.  My first goal is 135 and I'm going to decide on my final goal once I get there.  I'm almost 5'5".  I am a cheerleader and dance with a ballet company.

I'm looking for some friends to start a group with weigh-ins on Friday mornings.  This is a chance to talk about what's going on at school, how to eat healthy with bad school food, etc.

Anyone want to join me?

i'd love to join you. i'm 14 and as of this friday morning my current weight is 191 pounds. i tend to flucuate everyday with my weight though (water weight i think).my goal by christmas would be 160, then a little more after that depending on how i look for my height which is 5'8ish.

i plan on joining a health club near me soon, which now has a teen membership. what i really want to achieve when i lose all the weight and get a little toned is play volleyball and possibly tennis for my school :]

Hey i'd like to join too. I'm 15 and as of friday morning im my current weight is 164 pounds. My starting weight was 175. My goal by christmas is to be 135 and then from there i'll decide on another weight goal. I'm ALMOST (dam!) 5'5.

 

I'm already into sports (im on a handball team in school) and I'd like to be able to become a better player by being fitter. I dont think I can join a gym during the summer because I basically wake up at 1PM and play handball until 8PM.

I cant wait till' the weigh in. =]

good luck u guys i think we will all do well my motivation is that i am running a marothon in the spring and when i reach 145 i get a running outfit and my mom says every five lbs i loose i get a treat like a new purse or a hoodie she calls them goal treats good luck

I am a little older than you guys (17) but i have the same goals, i would like to lose about twenty pounds by christmas.

My starting weight is 144.8
My current weight is 136.8

do you like any sports cause i use that as a motivation to keep me excercising cause i run 3 to 6 miles a day and i have cheerleading and ballet and dont forget the weigh in is friday

Ok I'll do this... but I can't log in my weight next friday cause I'm Disney World.
But I'll dish up the facts on what I'm doing
I'm 5'1 , I weigh 125lbs

I'm on a vegan diet ( not because of my weight because of my beliefs) I run for an hour everyday (5.5 km or 3.5 miles) ontop of what ever I have done  that day. I am not into any organised sports, I'm more a music geek then anything.

My goal weight is around 105-110
and I know thats not 25-35 pounds but I still wanna be in this with you guys.

 

I don't do sports very often, although i love playing volleyball for fun with friends. I like to run, on occasion. I actually wanted to try ballet, but i feel like i would be starting to late (i mean like every person i know that does it has been doing it since they are like 2!) Friday weigh in days are perfect for me since i already weigh in on fridays!

I guess my modivation is to feel better about myself and be healthier altogether. I have poor self esteem issues =[.

Well a little bit more about me, i have a great support system. A lot of my friends are trying to become more healthy. Also i love to cook, its one of my passions, i want to go to paris to study classical french cuisine.

What about you guys? What is a little of your story?

If I can still join I would like to. I am 16 years old and I am 6,2” and I weigh  215. My goal is 175  and that will take me a little longer than till Christmas but I would like to be in your group as a motivator to me.

 Just a question but am I the only guy in this group?

I'm 16 right now and hoping to lose 20 pounds by Christmas. I play a lot of soccer and do old gymnastics exercises at home frequently. I'd love to join a gym near by house soon, maybe when I get my licence next month. I'm also vegetarian.

Pengy- I used to a vegetarian. But now i just don't eat red meat too often.

you should take ballet classes my mom said you might mot be able to dance competitively but you can dance and enjoy it cause i started late not as late as you but i am behind

patrickryan u may be  the only boy but u might have the same intresxt as us feel free to talk about interest and school wat grade r u in

pengy being a vegan shouldnt make it hard to loose weight just make sure you get plenty of protein and othe things like fiber

i also love to cook and i am thinking about persueing a career in catering and i really want to dtudy abroad and go to italy and europe to study cuisine like bails babe i also enjoy dance and photography i have placed first in the district science fair in microbiology and i could have gone to state but i chose not to i am an a b student i am in a dance company and we do 2 preformances a year and there is a website i have also taken the act in seventh grade and i scored high enough to go to the state recognition cerimony and i got a medal i scored high enough to put it on my colleage aplication i also will take the ninth grade eoct for lit. at the end of this year 8th grade and when  im in ninth grade i will take 10th grade lit.  these are my interest and things ( i know there are alot)Embarassed

Taykaybelle- You sound like a busy girl! lol Its good that you have so many interests. Colleges will love you! And i am glad we share a common interest of cooking. Studying abroad is my goal as well. Someday i would love to live in Paris.

So this is too everyone, what are some of the healthy snacks and other foods you eat now that you are trying to lose.

Some of my favorite healthy foods are:
-Greek yogurt or light and fit yogurt
-Fruits! Right now i have been eating a lot of grapes and melon
-Salads (some of my favorites are greek salad or asian style)
-I like anything with lots of fiber, it keeps me full
-Lean cuisines ( i know the sodium isn't great but i still try to stay under my amount)
-Luna bars (peppermint chocolate is very good)

 

my mom and i are going food shopping tonight, where i plan on buying tofu and light yoghurt. i want to make my own clear soup with chicken broth too that they serve at this hibachi restaurant and it has like nothing in it :P

i've also been eating more fruit lately, especially when i visit my dad every wednesday and friday because my grandma would always feed us heavy pasta or fast food but now she's actually starting to listen to me when i say i'm trying to eat healthy.

My hobbies are cars, gardening and clock repair. I am restoring a 1956 Volkswagen beetle. I also work a clock repair shop. I intend to start a watch company. As for school I am in 12th grade and I am home schooled. Being home schooled makes it hard to lose weight since I am around food all day.  I also find it hard to eat breakfast does anyone else have that problem?

i do because i dont have time to eat befor i leave the house and at school the only breakfast they serve is junk

my problem right now is i hav 4 partys to go to this month one a week (one is mine too)

I'd love to be nice and "Weeee, I'm small!" on Christmas day, and be able to enjoy all the holiday parties and have a cookie without thinking people are looking at me going "God, she's fat, why is she eating that cookie?"

Also, pengy, I have to ask, how tall are you?

Popgirl-I made my own black bean soup recently, it was very flavorful and i didn't even add much salt, just a dash. But i put WAY too much onions so i didn't finish it all.

Patrickkryan- Sometimes i wake up really late like twelve but i still eat breakfast, i love breakfast. Is it breakfast foods you don't like or is it just the though or eating right when you wake up in the morning.?

Taykaybelle- Why don't you try taking at least a protein/nutrition bar with you too school and a piece of fruit. That way at least your eating something but you don't have to be at home to eat it.

that black bean soup sounds really good, although i'm not a big fan of any beans :P my huge problem is i'm a very picky eater. if it sounds, looks, or smells funny i won't eat it :/ even if i try it, typically i don't like it. i don't like seafood either, except for some sushi.

tomorrow i start my Learn to Run 5k from the Fitness section of the forum, so i'm stoked for my final results at the end of 8 weeks :]
