Do those over-the-counter teeth whiteners really work?
I've had success with them : )
really? which one do you use?

Crest White Strips, Aquafresh trays...and there was another gel kind that you squeeze into a rubber-like mouthpiece...sorry, I can't remember the name of that one.
Of course they don't work as well as anything I get from the dentist, but I still can see results...the hubby likes them as well!
I have been using a product for years called Dr. George's Dental White.
I have received so many compliments on my white teeth and I have recommended this product to many people. However, you can't buy it in the stores any longer, you have to buy it on-line. Just Google it and you should find it. Just buy the refill gel, it's 9.95, lasts forever. You don't need the kit with the trays. You can put it on with a q-tip, or your tooth brush.
Wow! That sounds easy enough, thanks! I'll have to try it!
The only clinically proven whitening product is crest white strips. Other wise i would call your dentist.
My dad is an orthodontist. He says that the teeth whitening you pay $200-300 for at the dentist works just as well as over the counter strips, but the strips take longer.
the strips are GREAT! I used them a few years ago and they worked perfect (just had to remember to do it each night).
I am getting crest whitestrips supreme (professional strength) they are on amazon for like $40 and they are supposed to work a lot better than the regular crest white strips you get at like walmart. I haven't tried them yet but they have been getting amazing reviews on amazon
i asked my hygienist and she recommended the crest whitestrips. BUT she said that the process breaks down the enamel and it takes time to re-form. she said that while you're using them (i think it's 2 weeks maximum) you shouldn't eat or drink any staining foods (coffee, red wine, berries, etc.
since i'm not prepared to give up coffee for two weeks (okay - not wine either), i'm going to wait until i'm gainfully employed again and have laser whitening.
BTW forget all the claims of pricy toothpaste. Not one was proven to whiten but consumer reports (LINK) found Ultrabrite All in One Advanced Whitening notably removed stains and its one of the cheapest brands.
I started using ultra brite years before there toothpaste claimed to be able to whiten when their studies then showed this cheapy toothpaste to produce the best removal of teeth staining.
I also had success with Crest Whitestrips. They were easy to use and only cost, like, $30-ish. The results last a while too.
I've used the dissolvable Crest Whitestrips & had great success with them.
Regards.

I used the crest white strips supreme about 1 1/2 years ago and my teeth are still pretty white...I get compliments about how white they are a lot. So I would def. recommend them.
Do the professional at the dentist whitening treatments make your teeth more sensitive like the white strips do? I have super sensitive teeth already so I don't want to make it any worse, but whitening would be fun :]
I would also like to know if they make your teeth sensitive. Mine a really sensitive and thats the only thing thats been keeping me from using whitening products.
I just use baking soda and peroxide, cheap and it works :)

Yes.
Thanks for all of the replies--my daughter has been asking for whiteners , but I wanted to check it out with actual users first so I wouldn't be wasting my money. Thanks!
