Anyone else around here try this machine? If you aren't familiar with it, it's a "fryer" in which you can make french fries in 40 minutes with a Tbsp of oil, less oil if you are making fewer than 1 kg of potatoes. When I saw it, I was freaking out with joy because as far as I'm concerned, french fries are one of natures gifts! But, I haven't been having any since I"m carefully monitoring everything I eat.
It makes fries out of the usual potatoes, sweet potato, yams, carrots and I suppose some other root veggies too. The fries are beautiful to look at when they come out. Golden brown and crispy. BUT, the crispy is gone after about a minute. I used Yukon Gold potatoes. Wonder if a different variety, say like russet might work better. Maybe someone has a tip on how to keep the crispy going? ![]()
My Mom bought this a long time ago, I'm not sure how to keep them crispy, although if my Mom is making more than one batch, she puts the first in the oven. Maybe that would help? Personally I really like the fries the way they're made in the Actifry, and you should try the sweet potato fries. Those are really good!
