for your age, you need to be eating more like 1500 calories a day! eating 750 a day will put you into starvation mode...you will gain for awhile cuz your body will keep all of the food you DO eat as fat to keep itself alive. Then you will become mal-nourished. You really should enter all the info on the tools here on CC and follow how many recommended cals it tells you to eat !
Yes I know It may seem small
But well..
I just Have not been hungry and I eat about the same hting everyday
It says something like
1532 calories?
But thats alot for one day S:
erm.. Yah x.x
Becareful!!! I used to eat just like you...similar status as you....until I got an exercise bulimic and now I have to faces the worst thing ever.........binge eating due to too much restriction. Just to warn you and I don't you or anyone to face the situation that I have to go through right now. So, take care.
good luck.
Try eat more calories dense food.... like almonds or nuts. This will help and it will give you some nutritions. Also, they will be easily eat!!

700 Calories a day is not healthy for ANYONE, especially a growing teenager. The recommended minimum calories is 1500-1800 for sedentary teens, the more active you are the more calories you will need.
Did you know that Calorie Count's tools are geared for adults, not teenagers?! Please use the following links that are catered specifically for teens if you are 19yo or under.
Calorie Count Plus's mission is to promote healthy and sustainable weight management. Please help our moderators follow this vision and respect the following guidelines.
- Promotion of starvation diets or habits that exhibit signs of an eating disorder ("pro-ana", "pro-mia", etc.) is prohibited.
Thank you for respecting the guidelines as well as CC's mission to promote a healthy weight loss/management site for its members.

If you know what you're doing is unhealthy, then why continue it?
I lost 15 pounds by eating 2500 calories a day. I'm 5'3.25 and 101 pounds, and i still eat what i want.
if your not hungry, maybe you should eat things with more calories but the same amount of food so youre not stuffing yourself when you're not hungry, or drink protien drinks inbeween meals
OP - I just did the math for a teenager your size. and you at a 21.6 on the BMI scale. Which is toward the low end of healthy. How much weight are you looking to loose? and why?
If You eat less then 1200 calories a day, you are starving your self. If because of all your exercise and activity you have a calorie deficit over 1000 calories at the end of your day, again you are starving yourself. And if I understand you right your doing both. Which means your probably already doing damage to your internal organs. And your body is going to pretty much refuse to give up what little fat it has left. Which means your hurting yourself and not likely going to loose an weight .
Please please start eating enough to give your body proper fuel.

okay... when i was anorexic i ate 1000cal a day if your exercising that much you should be lookng at 2000cals minium! and really, you dont need to loose weight, check this australian (yayz im aussie) website, go down to the table, MJ or the energy requirements is in megajoules (thousand kilojoules). your PAL is activity level, yours is at least 1.7others may find this handy too, wanted to post this for alot of reasons. http://www.nrv.gov.au/Energy.aspx
OhkayOhkay Everyone

Ummm What exactly should i start eating exactly? To remain healthy But Lose Weight?
Why do you want to lose weight? You're not overweight in the slightest and, at 14, you're probably still going to grow in height. How tall are your parents, for example? Take an average of their heights and that's probably where you're destined to end up. To remain healthy you need a balanced diet and enough energy to match your activity. Eat regularly, snack if you're hungry, enjoy what you eat. If you're determined to count calories start at 2300 and take it from there.
If your idea to lose weight is because you don't feel confident about yourself or if you're unhappy with your body for some reason then talk to someone about how you feel. Losing weight when you don't need to generally creates more problems than it solves.
you shouldn't even be trying to lose any weight. 118 lbs at 5'2 is a GREAT weight.

i don't think you're grasping the gravity of what you are doing. what you are doing is one of THE most stupid things a teenager could possible do. if you are actually comfortable with starving yourself in such a manner as you claim to be doing, then you need to see a psychologist: that's an eating disorder. Not only is it an eating disorder, but reading such posts as yours is downright infuriating.consider this post a polite one. if i see you post another such as this you better believe I'm going in with both barrels. eat or seek help op
AH! Honey, please don't cut anymore. You'll lose your hair and your period and you'll get all pale and bony and no one wants that.
I know some people are saying "eat 2300 calories daily" which is probably good advice but is a big jump from 700.
Aim for AT LEAST 1500 a day, which is like a bare minimum for us teens.
And then just work off of that, adding an extra snack here or there, so you can get up to a higher caloric amount, which by the end of the day should be at least 2000.
If you wan tips, just message. :D
My four year old niece used to eat more than I would in a day. She is six now and easily eats more than that. Grab a brain, even google can tell you that what you are doing to your body isn't healthy.
And actually to function, teens need more like 2400. I don't get where this 1500 crap comes from. There is no way an active teen can function optimally and grow normally on only 1500kcal.
Plain and simple: don't starve yourself. Eat when you're hungry and eat nutritiously, don't eat too many fatty foods, consume plenty of vitamins and minerals, etc. You're not eating enough if you're hungry and all the online calculators in the world are still approximations.
I'm not going to tell you some melodramatic story about when I ate 900 calories for a month and I turned into a rake with no hair (although my metabolism did grind to a stop and my weight loss efforts were useless despite all my exercise, my body thought I was in famine). I'm not gonna say "YOU SHOULD EAT -insert scientifically backed number- ITS THE MINIUMUM FOR TEENS AND YULE GO INTO STARVATION MODE"
Sometimes I feel like 1800, sometimes I want 1200, sometimes I'm tired and not hungry and I just want 800. Your body won't quit growing and eat its muscles if you simply listen to what its saying. Playing sports usually equals needing more fuel.

My Dad is 5'4 and my Mom was about 5'5
But My Grandpa was about 6'3 and My grandma was like 5'2?
I do not think Im gunna grow much eh'
Most girl children end up as tall as or taller than their mothers so you're probably looking at 5'5" or 5'6".... that's assuming you get over this particular hiccup.
If you've only been doing this for 2 days you can very easily stop. If this is just the latest phase in a longer history of trying to lose weight you absolutely need to stop. Undereating for a day or so isn't going to harm anyone but if you've lost your appetite because you've been undereating for a long time then that's a bigger issue and you'll have to work harder to overcome it.
Throwing it back to you.... what's your next step? What have you decided to do that's going to improve this situation? And do you now accept that you don't need to lose weight?
Hi,
According to the calculator undertherainbow linked, a fourteen year old, 118lb, 5'2 girl has a BMI of BMI) of 21.6, which is at the 75th percentile for age. This suggests that this girl is at a healthy weight. You should be consuming:
1740 calories inactive
2060 calories lightly active
2360 calories moderately active
2860 calories very active
Given your activity level I would put you at 2860 calories - very active. Yes, you could maintain on this much!
Now, as has been resoundingly said it is very dangerous for you to be eating 700 calories a day. You are fourteen years old and your body is still growing, and in need of vital nutrients that your body requires to grow as you grow older. I expect you will grow at least another few inches given the measurements of your parents but only if you do not stunt that now by eating far, far too little.
The physical dangers that come with undereating are numerous. You put yourself at risk of osteoporosis, of loss of fertility if you lose your period, hair loss, electrolyte problems, a weakening of the immune system, low blood pressure, blood disorders such as anemia, heart problems, and even death. The mental woes that come alongside can be just as devestating. Depression is common in undereaters as well as distorted perceptions and problems like Body Dysmorphic Disorder.
You may not feel hungry but it is crucial to eat at least 1500 and that is if you only sit on your bum all day, which you do not, so you need a lot more! As you have only been eating this way for a couple of days you can still reverse this but it is no way to live and no way to lose weight. You do not even need to lose weight full stop - let yourself grow and live like a normal teenager instead! Focus on life, not on weight loss! I am sure you're a beautiful girl as you are right now.
Also, think of your sport. Your body is like the engine of a car. You put petrol/gas in and your car will run. If you only have your car half-full, it will not run as far or efficiently. Without adequate calories in you may find it hinders your performance in sports and I doubt you want that. You should also consider that your activity level may mean you have muscle built, which is a tissue denser than fat and though something that weighs more while looking less. This is healthy tissue, and undereating can catabolise your muscles - aka, eat them away. Being someone who has suffered from atrophy of the muscle in her legs, trust me, you do NOT want that to happen. Just the other day I fell over because my legs couldn't carry my weight properly, and I've been building it back for a couple of months. :s
If you are struggling to get your calories in try eating low density, high calorie foods. These're small quantities of food that kick up the calories. Nuts, nut butters, dried fruits, dense fruit like bananas and avocado, healthy cooking oils like olive oil, wholewheat or wholegrain pasta and noodles, full fat dairy products (and cheese in general, really), honey...
A PB and banana sandwich can rack you up 550 calories pronto. One large banana is about 110 calories. Four teaspoons of PB are about 60 calories each. Two slices of wholemeal bread will rack you about 90-100 calories per slice. Banana, plus bread? 310. Plus the four teaspoons of PB? 550. Very nice grilled or with a drizzle of honey added in if you're up for it.
You could try making a smoothie with some milk and/or yoghurt, honey, nuts and a banana, and other fruits of your choosing. Or an ice cream sundae in the same sort of manner. Oatmeal is also a good base for denser foods - you can easily stir in nut butters, nuts, and dried fruit into oatmeal and make it with milk and it's still easy on the stomach.
Stir fry is easily done. Just do it up in oil and throw in some cashews or peanuts or similar to help bring up calorie content. Peanut sauce works in the same manner, but there are all sorts of nut butters, not just peanuts! Macadamia and cashew are delicious. Pasta bakes can be made calorific. You could also make a grilled cheese sandwich or two!
Aim for wholegrains/complex carbohydrate, protein, healthy fats, some dairy or a dairy alternative and a serving of fruit or veg at every main meal as well as snacks between that also contain these essential things.
If you are truly set on eating more and not losing weight then please, go for the tips I've posted above. Fourteen is such a great age, don't even think of dieting and scales right now or it can really lead you down a slippery road. I hope this helps and if you want any more ideas let me know.
- Ellie. :]
Not that you havent been told this already but...do eat more.
I can completely relate with you though. (Not to mention, we are the same age, height and almost the same weight :D ) I have no problem to eat 700 calories or even less a day - and I did do that for quite a while. But quess what happened? My hair started falling off, I lost my period, my blood pressure (which has always been the best possible) dropped dramatically as did my body temperature, my bone density dropped probably permanently, and I was acting like a b*tch all the time. I shouted and snapped at other people, got withdrawn from my friends, hurt my family's feelings lord knows how many times...but as soon as I started eating more, I have energy to be enjoying my life, AND losing weight! You need to eat to lose weight - even as "strange" as it seems...
You dont need to lose weight - but neither do I. I still want to lose a few pounds, and if you want to, too, then my advice is to eat enough and take it easy. We are both at healthy weights and in no hurry! Starving yourself will lead you to either nowhere or then hospital.

Figure out what type of eater you are and you might just find the answer to permanent weight loss.
