tell me about NIPPLE PIERCINGS
if anyone has experience with nipple piercings please talk to me! what gauge? what kind of jewelry? barbell or ring? aftercare? pain during aftercare? anything!! i'm finally ready to do it!!
thanks in advance ;)
My advice to you... GO FOR IT! I have had my lip, nose, tongue, eyebrow, nipples and downstairs pierced and the nipples were probably the easiest- they healed nicely and weren't that painful to get done. Downfall- they do one at a time so you have to go through two piercings in a row. Wear a sports bra (more comfort because the weight of your chest will put pressure on the rings).
Be very careful if you use a loofa (sp?) in the shower- I hooked my bar bells on that so many times and that is painful...also, they'll probably start you with a hoop, change it in 6 weeks like every other piercing to what you want. I, specifically, thought that the barbells looked best. Anyway, good luck!!
i have a friend who got her nipple pierced and her body pushed the piercing out.
The pain of getting it done is not bad at all... not as bad as I expected.
I've had my nipples pierced a few times, once just to see what all the fuss was about and a few other times when I was bored and felt like having a nipple pierced. I'd never gotten to pierce anyone elses nipple and the first time I did get the chance, I screwed up pretty bad.
The needle went through fine. The ring went through fine. It was when I was trying to clamp the ring that I slipped off the ring and clamped the freshly pierced nipple. I have never heard a guy scream that high-pitched before in my life.
And for the record, I have known people to pierce with barbells. They're sometimes considered to be easier for big ol' bologna nipples (don't see how, it's just their argument) but I say start off with a ring. Easier to keep up and clean in the beginning. With a bar bell, I'd be afraid of it seeping into the skin and then having to be surgically removed. Don't think I'm kidding! I've seen it happen before.
i guess i am not too worried about the pain factor during the actual piercing, i just want to know about aftercare and i am terrified of getting it caught on something. i will remember not to use a loofah!!
my nipples are pretty itty bitty so the ring will probably be best.
cellulitedelight: my bf wants us to pierce each other and i'm scared he may break up with me cuz i'll do something like you described!!!
alibuch: ouch!!!! how long did it take to heal??
thank you all for your replies =)
also....should i do one at a time...or both in one session??
As for aftercare, just keep it clean. I cleaned mine twice a day and it healed fine. I wore a microfiber sports-bra type thing to bed for awhile to prevent from rubbing... having T.H.O. hurt a bit for the first few weeks.
But yeah... if your body starts to reject it... just take it out. Believe me... not worth the pain.
Go get it done by a professional or if you're really serious about doing eachother, do it with the supervision of a professional. And practice on a few steaks before hand.
I had it done on two separate occassions. The first time, they were so painful, they lasted like 3 weeks and I HAD to get them out. The second time I lasted a few months, but they were always in the way and always sensitive - not in a good way. And guys seem to think they can just pull on the rings with their teeth.
And yes, you typically have to get pierced with rings so you can clean them - which hurts like hell.
And mine didn't seem to heal nicely, either. And if the piercer doesn't get them in the right spot, the rings can stand outward instead of lay flat.
I happen to really like my nipples so this was a bad experience all around for me - why I did it twice, I have no idea!
Sounds like the experience is highly individual. I've had several piercings (~9), most of which didn't bother me at all (during the actual piercing). The nipples, though, hurt like the unholy fires of hell. Or something. I thought I was going to deck the girl doing it. Actually the first wasn't TOO bad because it was pretty quick, but I was probably extra sensitive so for the second one it really hurt. It also hurt for a long time afterward (weeks?) However it's been 3 or 4 years now and they are fine. Never rejected. It did take several months to fully heal, and they hurt for some time afterward. I also did the ring at first but as soon as I could, I switched them out to barbells. I used to change mine all the time and I think maybe that delayed the complete healing - so once you change them to barbells you might leave them in for a while to let them fully heal before you start changing them out. Although it's hard to do that when they are new and fun! The aftercare would be basically the same as your other piercings...
I have had just about everything pierced, and my nipples done twice. Nipples hurt the worst for me! But it was soooo awesome!! I had rings the first time, I had to take them out when I went to boot camp. I prefer barbells, which I had the second time, because there is really cool jewelry you can put on the bar bells, and switching out captive beads can be painful if you slip with the pliers. OUCH. BEEN THERE LOL. The only reason I took mine out was because I got pregnant, and my breasts went from a 34B to a 36DD in a month and they were tender and it was just too painful with the extra breast tissue. The aftercare was easy, I cleaned them in the shower, and made sure to wear a bra all the time so it did not get snagged on anything. It was annoying having to wait for them to heal in order to switch out jewelry, but over all, they were the most fun I have ever had with peircings!
This thread makes me want to go out and get them done a third time...
GO FOR IT!

From what I've heard, I'm the exception, rather than the rule. For most people I know, the pain goes away. I don't know what my deal was!
I must also say - I have a hood piercing which is by far my favorite piercing. It's amazing (in more than one way)! And no, contray to what people always say, it does not make you lose feeling. If you want to try something new and don't feel like you can pull of an a facial piercing - try the hood :)
Please, please, please do not pierce something simply because you're scared you'll get dumped if you don't.
No her boyfriend wanted them to pierce each other (be the actual piercers) not going to a place to get it done...
alle0299: no one would EVER convince me to get something pierced...alibuch is right, i was talking about us piercing each other.
i am pretty sure i will do it. i think i may do a little more research and go talk to the piercers (not sure where to get it done yet!) now i am pretty sure that it will be painful...but i guess that's ok. only thing i was worried about was how painful aftercare is...because after i get them pierced i can't just lay around in a bra, i have to go to work and function like a normal human in society. and my bf will have to stay away from them, which he will not be happy about.
i'm even MORE excited now!! thanks so much everyone!!
