Tell me about your pet(s)
I love my cat and I love hearing people talk about their fur kids.
Bubba is 14 and very laid back. Most of the time he sleeps, off and on, in various places, usually near a heat vent. He's an impeccable gentleman, very set in his ways. His current favorite thing is to crawl under the corner of the living room rug to make a hump in it, before curling up on top, resting his chin on the hump he's made.
He doesn't play much, but likes his catnip mousies very much. After batting them around he sits on them. He hates bugs and comes to get me if there is a fly in the house. It's my job to dispatch the intruders while he watches from a safe place.
So tell me - cat or dog, or other pet? What gender? Name? Color? Funny habits?

Well, we have lots of pets. 4 dogs-a 9 yr old newfie named Chester, he also responds to Monkey and Monkey-boy, huh Monkeybutt for that matter! Very Very sweet and embarrassed by his large size-he currently weighs about 165, but in his younger days weighed in at 187.
Moving right along we have a shihtzu name Carmen, aka Babygirl and Baybay. She rules the roost weighing in at about 15 pounds. We tell her she's the best cuz she is the only one of the little dogs we fully trust loose in the house when we're gone. That has changed somewhat, but I've digressed......The favorite is Owen, the product of Carmen and "Kitty", our pekengese. He is absolutely adorble and sooooooo cuddley, but he's also a bit nervous, so we joke about him being "scaywed" (scared) all the time. Kitty is our special needs pet-he's a rather defective peke-no full coat and longer legs-thank God, saves on the grooming bill! He will lift his leg if given run of the house, so he is frequenly either tethered by us or we put a gate up at the stairs. We joke about kicking him daily, he just has that look about him.
We also have four bunnies currently in a pen in the basement-Bunbun, Jiggy, MoJo, and Frank. Bunbun came neutered, Jiggy and MoJo just got neutered Thursday, and Franks turn is rapidly approaching. If Carmen has full access to the basement she we spend forever at their pen whining and wanting to assert her "authoritar" to quote Eric Cartmen.
All can be viewed at www.family.metacasa.net
Also have 2 kids, both teens, one of each, 14 and 17. Good Fun!!

We have four cats, Ashley, Sabrina, Tiger and Mr. Tom. If you look at my pictures you'll see one of Ashley (she's my baby). Ashley is 13 and her coat is a faded or diluted tortoise shell. She's the sweetest cat I've ever known. She's very good natured and a great spooner.......:)
I love all animals, but especially cats!

My babies are Traitor and Maverick - aka "the boys". Both are Yorkshire Terrier boys.
Traitor is named that because he was supposed to be my husband's dog...but he kept choosing me! So he started saying "you little traitor" and the name stuck!! He is about 7 pounds and will be 3 years old in August. He is super super smart, very demanding, runs the household, snores when he sleeps (which is usually on his back) and LOVES to eat. He BOLTS for the breakfast bowl and spins every morning, barking and tugging at my pants leg. The boy loves food!
Maverick is about 5.5 pounds and is the sweetest, funniest guy ever! He loves everyone, likes to bark and LOVES to snuggle. He is almost 2 years old and he is the cute one (the girls in my office equate hime to Kelso on that 70's show). He's the one I got for the hubby to replace Traitor, but alas, this one chose me too. We call him "the Mav" or "Shaggy Pants"!
They both like to watch tv - and watch hunting shows with my husband early on Sunday mornings and if you ever watch these shows, the music changes as big game comes into site - the boys perk up and then run barking at the tv. Traitor even tried to get behind the tv one day when the deer disappeared... Mav - he hates crows. They love to chase the ducks off the boat dock.
They go to work with me every day and love to drive through the bank to get cookies! They travel everywhere we go! Thanks for letting me share!!!

I have a dog Sebastian. He's an australian cattle dog aka blue heeler. He's very smart but also very rambunctious and he needs a lot of room to run around. His favorite hobby is beating up an old empty five gallon bucket in the basement for hours when its too cold to go outside. He hates to go and stay outside if the temp is below like 50 he gets sad and depressed.
Next door to me is a barn that has a lot of cats about and when he gets off his chain he likes to herd cats not cows lol and he corrals them all up and puts them back in the barn its quite funny but Im sure the neighbors don't likely appreciate it - even though he doesn't harm them. I bought an invisible pet fence and I'm going to be installing it here soon so that he can run without getting in the neighbors barn lol.
He is always a lot of fun and as a puppy I would take tennnis balls and throw them two at a time and he and my son would run after them and the dog would sit and wait for my son to catch up before running back. It was a hoot everyone got a kick out of me playing fetch simultaneously with the dog and the kid lol
My other pet is my 10 year old cat Sam who has burned through a few of his 9 lives due to his sense of adventure and lack of fear and willingness to go anywhere to catch a mouse or bird. Those being the only times he finds the energy to lift his behind up off the couch or bed. My favorite story with him was the one I posted the other day where he caught the mouse, spit it into his dish and then proceeded to eat his dry cat food lol. He's a funny little man and demands a lot of attention and must have fresh food in his bowl at all times. If it isn't fresh enough he will complain and nag at me continuosly until I change it lol. If I fill the dish more full when I leave town he simply won't eat - someone has to come and change the bowl. sometimes hes frustrating like that but for the most part he's a good guy. He loves belly rubs :)

We have two dogs. Mikai is a Chow Chow (not like you think though; very docile and loving and protective. Not aggressive at all). Toby is a Llasa Apso and I think slightly retarded :) But I love him. He is MY special needs dog :)
We have a cat named Emmy who torments the dogs :) Even the chow is afraid of her :) Emmy is a big girl with a belly that hangs low :) she is ultra affectionate when she wants to be, otherwise, leave her to herself and she is happy.
Her purring is so loud it wakes me up :)
We have a bearded dragon named Shredder. He is my son Chandler's (who is 8 yr :). Chandler also has 3 leopard geckos. He used to have a ball python snake, but he recently died :(
We also used to have 2 birds (cockatiels) as well, but they also passed away due to old age.
It used to be like a zoo in my house :)
I love all my animals though :)
Happy Saturday!

btw - Claire, I always read your journal and have heard you mention Bubba :) I always wondered what kind of pet he was :)

I have a yellow lab named Tucker and two cats. Tucker came to us as an adult after having been abused and ending up in the shelter. When we got him he didn't know what a toy or a bone was. He was scrawny, scarred up, missing fur from flys biting him, and has a bb in his leg. Poor thing was pathetic looking. Now he is 94 pounds, knows that when money goes on top of the entertainment center it means the pizza guy is coming, has a basket full of toys and expects a new one every time I go shopping, has to have his bone right away in the morning, has a bed that is more comfortable than mine, and firmly believes he is human. He is so spoiled that my friends say that in their next life they are going to be my dog.
Tucker is a creature of habit. He does not like his routine to change in any way. He knows exactly when he is supposed to be fed and go out. If you don't do anything on time he sits and stares at you until you take care of it. If you are late coming home he pouts. If you stay home when you should be at work he looks very uncomfortable. He does not like any furniture to be moved and looks very worried if you start to change anything in the house. One of the cats must think he is a dirty dog because she often lays next to him and grooms him. He looks very pained while she is doing it but he lets her. I think he secretly enjoys it but doesn't want to admit it.
His latest thing is when my husbands (diabetic) blood sugar levels get really low he sits next to him and won't leave his side until it is up to a normal level. Kind of weird how he knows.
I didn't think I would be able to love Tucker because hubby brought him home two months after I had my beloved Kismet put to sleep (cancer). The wounds were still too fresh for me. But he seemed to know that and gave me my space at first, slowly worming his way into my heart. Now he is my buddy, listens to me when I need to vent and sits with me when I need to cry. I don't know what I would do without him. There is nothing better in this world than having a loyal dog in your life.

I've got a Jack Russell / Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross called Bobby, who is now 19months old. We got him from a rescue home when he was 4 months old. He's tri colour with a blonde bum! He's got one black nail, and is still pink around the snout. Everyone says he's a beaut, and i agree he's gorgeous (see his pic in my profile!)
He's more my dog than my hubby's but that's because i'm with him more. We play together all day, everyday :) and he comes to bed with me when hubby's at work, and each morning i find him lay beside my stomach, head on my pillow
He's on the big side of staffy, weighing in at about 50lbs. He's all muscle. He eats loads but stays thin because he's always running around and thinking, you can see it in his face that he's thinking about things. He's a very clever dog, even things like opening and closing the stairgate to get in to the lounge (we had it when he was younger because he used to go and rip things apart). He once opened a jar, no idea how!
He's a big softy and loves to be cuddled and have kisses on his cheeks. (he then returns by licking your ears!) He's not a demanding dog, just wants some loving. He will not eat from a bowl but instead has a plate.
We talk in the mornings - he's very vocal when he wakes up, making yawny-howly noises that sometimes sound like words!
Well, that's monkey chops!

I have a lionhead bunny named Theodore. Theodore's favorite activities are redecorating my house, chewing on cardboard, and making sweet love to his toy ball. By redecorating, I mean he enjoys picking up anything he can carry (socks, paper, other clothes, his toys) and making piles in the corners of my apartment. He has a pretty awesome hairstyle that I would call a little punk-rock and a little Fabio :)
Oh....my baby kitties
Pewter and Pepper, sisters from a litter that was abandoned, a silver and grey tabby and a brown and black tabby. and complete opposites.
Mocha Java, a tortise long hair, runt of litter from my brothers cat, who is the alpa cat, runs the household!
Charlie, my poor charlie calico, a stray who we thought was a kitten, but turned out to be just a very scrawny severely underweight mistreated old kitty, who decided to curl up by our back door, she picked us...but is now a healthy very independent (from the other cats, but not to humans) cat...who I dare say is very happy that we rescued her!
Have had cats all my life, and could not live without them!

Monica,
I know what you mean about not being able to live without cats. I'm actually alergic to them (not severely), but that doesn't stop me from having them around. They've always made me so happy.

I love talking about my babies! I have two kitties, Batman and Tarzan. Batman is about a year and a half and he's massive! He's about 15 pounds and he is not fat at all! I think his parents must have been huge b/c he's bigger than any cat I've ever seen. He likes to attack things and play fetch with his toy mouse. He has a tent from Ikea that he loves to sleep in. For some reason he thinks he's going to starve so he makes sure to remind us in the morning to feed him even if he still has food in hte bowl.
Tarzan is the friend we got Batman in September. He's only about 7 months old now and he's not too bright. Ever since we got him when he was a tiny baby he's chased after Batman and loves to wrestle with him! It's the funniest thing I've ever seen! They pounce on each other and will be rolling around on the ground while Batman has Tarzan in a headlock! It's awesome! Tarzan loves the laser pointer too and can jump almost to the top of a door when he's trying to get the laser. He's my lover cat cuz he always wants attention. When my alarm goes off in the morning he promptly comes to make sure I get up and pet him of course! haha
I never was much of a cat person until I had my babies :)

I have 2 adorable dogs. Molly is a Bichon Frise. She is almost two years old. She is a mellow dog, but she will make yawning noises that sounds like a "yeeeow" in the morning and rub against your leg like a cat. She is also a lap dog. It doesn't matter who is visiting, she has to be on their lap. Dukie is an American Eskimo Dog that I adopted a couple of years ago. She is supposed to be around 10-11 years old but still very healthy and happy. My husband calls her a defective dog because she doesn't fetch, she doesn't play with dog toys, and she doesn't like most of dog biscuits. She is a bit of an airhead sometimes. Once I called her and she was running towards me and she saw a patch of grass while running towards me. She turned and went to the grass instead.
They sleep most of the day. Playfight with each other when not sleeping.

I have two babies right now. Madelynn, aka mattie cat which works since she has long hair . She's 8yrs. now, and I just found out I'm allergic to her but not too bad. She likes little toy mice and to be on my lap. She doesn't like other cats. She is find with dogs. My little sweetie Casey, passed away last Sept. he was 18 years old, toy poodle. I miss him. My other mixed dog passed away 2 years before also at age 18 her name was ladie. My boys were in 1st grade when we got her. They called her duke, Kept trying to tell them she was a girl so it was Lady duke. I was so broken hearted I said I wasn't getting any more and then Gypsie came into my life. She is a rat terrier, she's now 4yrs old. She loves to hug me. She was a lost and found dog. Couldn't find her owner or she was dumped (we get alot of those where we live). She loves to ride in the car and go shopping at petsmart. She loves her toys they are all over the place. We also have a neighborhood dog that comes and visits. Her owners are in their 70's. She shows up in the morning to eat, play and sleep. I take her for shots / give her baths and try to keep her healthy. I call her little brownie dog. She was sitting in the driveway when we moved in. She's about 6-8 years. She also loves car rides. I love my little furry babies.
Oh what wonderful stories! I can just picture all of your pets in my head!
We have a rescued giant white persian. I say giant, because like kcort13's cat, he weighs 16 pounds and is the longest cat I've ever seen! He can put his paws on the kitchen table and actually see what we're having for dinner ~ and if something catches his fancy, he'll reach over with his paw and try to cup it off the table! LOL Oh, his name is Merlin and he has huge golden eyes. We rescued him when he was about 10.5 years old and he's now about 19! He was horribly skittish and stayed under the bed for most of his first weeks with us, but now he is the king of the castle. He's not much for toys, but will play with the beam of a flashlight or laser pen or hunt the errant moth that made the unfortunate mistake of entering the house when the door is left open in the summertime. He actually eats them like they are kitty treats!
We'd miss him terribly if he wasn't here with us. And if I can ever figure out how to post photos to the profile, I'll have to put him in there.

haha daizymae! we never have to worry about bugs in our house b/c batman hunts them and eats them too! I'm amazed that he can catch flies and pretty much anything that moves haha....I'm sure that if we lived in a place that had mice he would find them!
i have had several pets over the years, but i am going to talk about my current baby Newman. we adopted Newman from a co-worker i worked with, as we were looking for a companion for our then wild kitten Grace. Newman was about a year and a half old and at the time his name was Mindy. they thought he was a she until they went to get him fixed, and when they found out he was a boy, they never changed his name.
we did.
we picked Newman because when we got him he was fat like Newman from Seinfeld (a show i hate), but also because of his big blue eyes like Paul Newman. it also had the same sing-song type of call Min-dy, New-man... we figured he'd learn his new name, and sure enough he did.
after years of living with Grace in my parents home, my family split up, my sister took Grace and i took Newman. He is an all white, blue eyed cat - and he is not deaf. i believe he is mostly maine coon, as he has many of the features of a coon. he is a big boy - coming in at around 17 pounds. he's not fat anymore at all. that's 17 pounds of pure muscle. when we first got him, he burned his nose on something (we think the iron) and he had to wear one of those lampshade collars. we had to force feed him, give him pills.. it was terrible. but he got better and then was fine until two winters ago.
after noticing that he was throwing up a lot more than normal, i took him in to the vet, only to find out that his kidneys were basically going into total failure and that he was very, very sick. i admitted him into the hospital, where he spent 5 days. i went to visit with him every day. when he came home i had to force feed him through a large syringe, i had to give him pills to clear the infection and the worst part was i had to give him sub-cutaneous fluid using a large needle. the fluid would collect at the back of his neck and would be absorbed by his body to help flush out the toxins in his blood. he has to eat a low protein food and i always have to watch his vomit, because that is the first sign of kidney failure.
he's now 9 yrs old, and the smartest cat i know. he rides on my shoulders like a bird, he scoops water out of his bowl and licks it off his paws, he knows the word treat (or feet, or peet, or anything that rhymes), and he knows the word "no". he doesn't scratch my furniture, he sleeps with me every night and he has probably saved my life several times.
he's my sweet prince and i love him lots. =^..^=
we did.

after noticing that he was throwing up a lot more than normal, i took him in to the vet, only to find out that his kidneys were basically going into total failure and that he was very, very sick. i admitted him into the hospital, where he spent 5 days. i went to visit with him every day. when he came home i had to force feed him through a large syringe, i had to give him pills to clear the infection and the worst part was i had to give him sub-cutaneous fluid using a large needle. the fluid would collect at the back of his neck and would be absorbed by his body to help flush out the toxins in his blood. he has to eat a low protein food and i always have to watch his vomit, because that is the first sign of kidney failure.
he's now 9 yrs old, and the smartest cat i know. he rides on my shoulders like a bird, he scoops water out of his bowl and licks it off his paws, he knows the word treat (or feet, or peet, or anything that rhymes), and he knows the word "no". he doesn't scratch my furniture, he sleeps with me every night and he has probably saved my life several times.
he's my sweet prince and i love him lots. =^..^=
Magicbluefairy,
I took a peek at Newman, he is beautiful! Take a look at my Ashley if you get a chance.
Take care,
Connie

Hi, I have 2 pups. Rory is an English Chocolate Lab, 3, Aries and male. Tullly, is a goldendoodle, 1, Aquairus like his mommy and male. Rory is my cuddle boy and Tully is my fluffy bear. They keep me movin! We do 3 miles every day around the lake. I love em both. They are great doggs!
Tully is the Alpha; even though, he showed up second. He loves to watch TV where Rory has no idea what a TV is. Rory loves to swim and once we open the pool it is hard to keep him out of the gate. Tully, last year, was afraid of the pool, but would stand on the side and bark and bark and bark. It was hilarious watching the two of them. Tully loves to chase our car down the driveway and we have been really working on teaching him NO! He doesn't seem to understand it is dangerous.
I am interested to see if Tully will go in the pool this year. Rory was afraid of it his first year also. So, we will see. In any case, they keep my busy especially now that my teens are off to college soon. Not ready to have a totally empty nest!
