What should i tell them?
So my boyfriend is coming home (we are at sepearte colleges) and he knows i've been trying to loose weight. He is all for it...like in supporting me! i started at 138 lbs and im down to 125 lbs now. His mom and i went out for lunch one day and she went up to visit him this past weekend and asked him if i was okay. Hes like...Yeah shes fine why? and she told him she was concerned because i was looking "very thin" hey i took it has a compliment. Because i was 130 when i last saw her. So now im even 5 lbs lighter. My goal weight is 115 lbs. so i stil have quite a bit to go. Like i hate telling people "im on a diet" because im not fat...like i dont like it when people think "diets are if your fat" Like im concerned, not just with his family, but i dont like saying "diet" but yet it is b ecause i am trying to loose weight. Is there a better way of saying it??? like Trying to be healthy? You know what i mean?? like when i was 138 everyone was supprtive of it...i went from a size 9 to a 5. So now that i am nearing my goal and i personally think im looking good people are like complimenting me and it feels great. i just dont want to say like "oh i need to loose 10 more lbs" or "im still on my diet" because i dont want people to hink im heading towards being a fricken bean pole.
what is like a better way of saying it??? i've just been saying "trying to be healthier" but the truth is: i AM trying to be healthier but im still trying to loose weight along with it. LoL, lame question but its been bugging me forever!
I know exactly what you mean! Sometimes when people offer me sweets I refuse and they say why? ...and I can't really tell them I'm on a diet because I get the 'youre fine! and youre not fat!' responses. My goal weight is 115, too! =]
A few I like to say are: I'm watching my weight. My appetites been low lately. I'm trying to get fit for [summer, christmas, 2009, etc.].
Stay strong!
Ha, first is a good one....
but yeah i know how you feel. Like with xmas around the corner, and my choco-holic self i'm finding it very difficult. Bless my roommmate, i get home from work at 11:30 pm and she knew i had a very busy day (i work as a CNA at a hospital) and i get home and she had made a pizza for me. At 11:30 pm. She was like JEN! i calcuclated it out and everything for you, there is 160 calories in this slice as she hands me a huge slice! she showed me her calcualtions and she put low fat cheese on it and everything haha. Bless her!!!!
Yeah usually when someone hands me sweets i will tell them i will have it in a little while. Usually they forget lol.
I'm recovering from an eating disorder but I still encounter the same problem even though I'm trying to gain not lose.. people offer me sweets or chocolate and I often turn them down (I have my own healthy high cal snacks etc) and when they ask why, usually I just tell them 'I'm trying to eat healthily' ... that doesn't neccessarily insinuate that you are trying to LOSE weight, it just says you're not eating 'junk.'
Hope this helps.
I'd go with the "I'm thinking of/eating for my health" and stick with it. Can I ask how tall you are?
Also, view it as a life change, not a diet. You are allowed the odd "junk" food once in a while, remember. Just enjoy everything in moderation!
I tell everyone I am allergic to the foods that I do not eat - that way no one asks questions or offers me any of those foods! It has worked VERY WELL (and I actually am allergic to some of the foods I do not eat, so I am not completely fibbing).
my favorite is to say i'm full. or just not hungry, or just had a big meal, or had a big meal for lunch/breakfast. it works.
I like to say " Thanks, but I don't eat a lot of sweets." (or potato chips, or whatever) Which is true. I'm not even trying to lose anymore, but I did make a lifestyle change and part of that was making junk food an occasional treat and not a common every day thing.
What type of food should not be eaten?
Calorie Count does not prescribe a particular diet or tell people to avoid particular foods. We only ask that you eat a balanced diet... Read more
