tell me if this is weird

i have never had a problem with craving fast food; it really doesn't appeal to me.  driving past mcdonald's to go home and cook dinner - couldn't be easier.  but the last couple of days, the smell from my neighbourhood KFC is almost irresistable.  what's that about?

::chuckles softly::  it's probably they're new 0 trans fat marketing.  It's everywhwere.  FYI, it's even worse for you calorie wise.

But I know what you mean, when i was young we had a boat, mom didn't cook on the boat so we always stopped at Gino's which sold KFC at the time.  To this day when I step on a boat I crave it in the worst way.
Try this:

Baste a half chicken breast in egg white, coat with seasoned corn flake crumbs. Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes on foil-lined baking sheet. Not KFC, but might curb your craving! It's only around 200 cals!
I do that with the chicken, but I dip it in the egg white (with a little water whisked), then season, then roll it in ground fiber one.  For calorie counting, I don't count the egg or the fiber one...most of the egg is still in the dish and it's so few fiber one...I suppose in total it may be 10 calories.  It's the best chicken breast I've ever made!!
We're Israei so we have an Israeli mentality not to eat at those places.  Weird huh? Nah.  Fast food really does look pukey to me.  Doesn't couscous and falafel just sound a lot more appealing?  =) kidding.
yes!  couscous and falafel does sound more appealing!  KFC is disgusting!

i think what's happening is that i've been eating pretty well for awhile, but some part of me is missing garbage foods.  i really don't eat at KFC.  i've been there maybe five times in the last decade.  i don't want to eat there.  it just smells so freakin' good!

thanks, everyone, for the recipes.  i do that sort of chicken all the time, but haven't tried breading it with cereal.  i will give it a try!
KFC is evil.
Personally, I cant stand KFC, the smell and even adverts make me nauseated, but I do crave Whataburger like crazy (its a fairly local fast food burber place that is mostly just in Texas, but it started here in the city I live in so there is one on every street corner, and they own the baseball field, so everytime I go to a game I see it and smell it)

What I do, is go there, get a kids meal, eat a half a chicken strip and 2 fries, then give the rest to my dog and rat, even the half a strip and fries are a lot of calories (about 100 in just that little bit), but it is better than getting a chicken strip basket with double gravy and a strawberry milkshake like I used to...plus it makes the dog really happy, and I dont do it often;)
when I was a teenager I was a vegetarian for 4 years!!!  You know what got me eating meat again?  KFC!!!  I could eat a ton of it, but basically I just like the skin and could eat a plate of that on its own!  Haven't had any for months though so doing well!
"He puts an addictive substance in his chicken that makes you crave for it fortnightly!"  Maybe Mike Myers is right...
Its funny you say that Zulu because I was a vegetarian for about five years and the thing that got me back to meat was McDonalds!! One day I just couldn't take it anymore and had two cheeseburgers. Crazy. Now I haven't eaten fast food in like three years and the thought of it makes me want to yak.
anybody heard of the Heart Attack Grill?  it's this crazy diner in Tempe, AZ where everything is fried in lard.  house specialties are the double, triple, and quadruple bypass burgers.  it got a lot of publicity not too long ago because the waitresses dress as naughty nurses and real nurses got their knickers ina  twist over it.

anyway, here's my point: the guy who runs this place is Jon Basso (Dr. Jon).  i knew him years ago in Greece and he's an absolute health nut.  he wouldn't eat that crap if you paid him, but he sure doesn't mind profiting from it!
I too, rarely eat fast food anymore-- but one way I get through the cravings is by thinking - "I'll go home and look up the information, and if I still really want it, I'll go back on (some day at least 2 days in the future) This way, I can make an educated evaluation , and if I still really want it -- I can make a more educated choice, and plan accordingly.  Since I've been doing this - (about 3months) I've had fast food once - (Culver's) and I made choices that while not the "healthiest" I could fit into my daily allowance. -- Every other time, the craving has passed, and/or looking at the information has changed my mind 8-)
