Okay, so since there are so many different clubs, I am going to start my own: the ten pound or less club. That means that if you are just trying to lose that little bit of flab that has been slowly creeping up on you, you are in.
I sometimes think this is the hardest place to be, since that means you have to work so hard to achieve so little; it doesn't seem like a big deal, but it gets difficult to actually lose this couple of pounds, doesn't it?

It seems like i have been trying to lose 10 pounds for 2 years. Just cant seem to do it. i go good for a few weeks and seems like something happens and i lose my motivation.
What keeps evryone going?

I think my problem is that I don't realize that I have to make the same changes in my eating/exercise/life habits as someone who is trying to lose much more weight. I think "Oh, I'll just cut out a little of this or that" and then it doesn't really happen. I was originally trying to lose 5 lbs and now am up to 9 lbs, so I am taking a new approach and making positive changes.
We'll see if it works! I've only been at this for this week (one small step, right?) but my motivation is just feeling like I have taken control of my situation. I feel good about my changes that I'm making.

mi only problem is bineging if i could find away to stop bingeing i'd probably lose weight faster but i have no idea how to!
I also have a problem with binging, especially when I skip a meal or
work out too hard. But I have managed to keep it under control
for the last 2 weeks. My main problem is food choice, which I
believe is my obstacle. I'm slowing working on it, but when my
house literally ran out of fruits and vegetables, the snacks I turn to
are pretzels with chocolate or nutella (in moderation of course).
I hope to lose about 10 pounds by April. It is quite hard.
I do good all week long by eating right and exercising. My problem is the weekends. I always mess things up on the weekends. I end up binging on the stuff I do not eat all week long and snack in between meals. I need to gain control of my weekend habits and I think I could lose the last 10 pounds instead of taking it off during the week and putting it back on during the weekend.
Ugh - I agree with the binge issues. I used to do it every three days, but now I am down to once a week. I am hoping to be in complete control again soon, the binge problems started in X-mas when I allowed myself to eat whatever I wanted.
I have also been smoke free for three weeks now, so that's another proud achievement, but also contributes to the binge - nibble, nibble, nibble. I think I am going to cut out TV during the week, and only allow in on Saturday night, if I read or chat online, or do household stuff I can keep my mind busy, but TV just begs for me to eat things while I sit gawking at it.
8 pounds to go!!!

yeah i have 6 to go. i don't binge at all on the weekend but i do during the week sometimes :/ .
10 pounds...just 10 more pounds...dammit.
I have about 8 to go... but it's the same 8 I've wanted to lose for 3 months now. I did badly for a couple of months and I'm just getting back on track. Wish me luck!
ETA: I keep forgetting how close I am to my goal. I see people saying "I only have 5 lbs to go!" and I get jealous, and then I realize "Hey, I have barely more than that, what's my problem?" Hehe, does anyone else do that?

I do that, lanicita! I'm sure it's because we tend to judge ourselves much more harshly than we do others and tend to hold ourselves to some sort of higher standard. I try not to compare myself with others and just focus on my personal best with everything I do, but it's so hard sometimes and I get so impatient. With me, I keep gining and losing the same 5 pounds so I range from 10-15 more to go...
Good Luck
Good Luck
I have an idea-let's try to think of things that weigh around ten pounds so we can put our weight loss in perspective...
my laptop, for example

My goal 2 months ago was 13 pounds as of today I have 1 pound to go. I could go another 5 pounds and still be a healthy weight though.
2 milk jugs I would think weigh 10 pounds. Big bag of flour or sugar. Sack of potatoes. A mini dashund (dog)

The weekends are hard for me too. I wanna let my hair down, have a few drinks, go out to eat!
Calorie counter says I should lose 20lbs. But I'll start with 10lbs. I'd be thrilled with 10lbs.
My cat weighs 10lbs.

The bag I carry for work weighs about ten pounds or so.
I am trying to look at the positive side of things. Some days I feel like "Yeah! My abs are hot!" and then I weigh myself and get a little saddened. I have decided to only weigh myself once a week.
I have yet to lose my first pound.

I had reached my target weight this summer. I maintained all the way to December, but now I'm 10 lbs over my target weight.
Lucky for me, the weather is warming up, and I tend to eat lighter when I'm hot. Something about cold weather makes me make bad food choices!
I'm back to eating healthy, balanced meals. My workouts haven't changed as far as frequency. All my weight gain was due to overeating. I stayed active the whole time.
Soo glad it's getting hot outside! Good luck with those last 10 everyone!!

Jenn, I think you're on to something..I too have my days when I'm like, I look good! Then others I can really feel those extra 10 lbs. But I am going to take a tip from you and start only weighing in once a week. I think it will keep me from acting like a nut when the number tips a little higher one day and down the next.
I kept my weight at 110 - effortlessly and without exercise - for over a decade. Then last year I went on a med and my weight ballooned up past 125!!
It is amazing how fast the weight piled on - literally in a matter of a month or two. I know because I'd bought some clothes ahead of time for a vacation, and by the time the vacation came around, they didn't fit me.
Anyway, I am now down to 116.8 as of this morning, and working on that last 7 lbs. After walking for months on end and losing the first 6 or 8 or so, I started calorie counting - at 119 - in early January. Sigh...119 to 116.8... that's just one pound per month! It amazes me how fast it was to put it all on, and how slow it is taking to come off!!!
On a positive note, this whole past year has made me get serious about my health. I'm 41 now, and I have to be serious about it. I quit smoking 8 months ago and also started exercising again around the same time. The calorie counting is helping me take a much-needed harder look at my diet. Whether I lose more weight or not, I'm doing all the right things for my health.
As for something that weighs 10 lbs, at Trader Joe's they sell these 10 lb chocolate bars!!!! I always pick one up when I go there and carry it around for a minute, just to amaze myself. Ten lbs may not seem like a lot - BUT IT IS! It tires me out carrying that chocolate bar around even for a minute.
