The Terrors of CHICK-FIL-A.

Quote  |  Reply
Okay. Today I went to Chick-fil-A with my sister for lunch. (God, I love it there.)

First, I ordered a Classic Chicken Sandwich (on a wheat bun) and an order of small french fries (to treat myself).

After we ate, my sister guilted me into ordering a Cookies-N-Cream milkshake.

THEN, the people working there were giving out FREE soft-serve ice cream and I couldn't resist myself.

That's 1690 calories.. plus my 350 calorie breakfast and I haven't eaten dinner yet! I'm already hungry.

I feel totally defeated. My daily goal is 1400 calories.

Come on RocknRoll -

Each meal is a new start!  Never get so discouraged when you fall off the rails (like we all do!!!!) that you let it take up the whole day!

Lunch is over, you had a hell of a treat, and now have a light but filling dinner - low fat veggie soup, as much as you need to feel full, and a few whole wheat crackers for crunch.  Load up on water to wash away that milkshake faster.

Wake up tomorrow and start again with breakfast.  One meal at a time!!

And I hope to gosh someone repeats this back to me when I send out a message just like yours!!

I feel for you!  Any unprepared 'free' bad for you things taste sooo good!  Had a similar experience going for chinese with friends where the planned next stop was a new Krispy creme that opened.  After being talked into the po-po platter in addition to teh generals chicken we go to buy our donut....only to be standing in line while they are giving out whole 'free sample' donuts!  What are you to do...you are in line to buy as well...so you eat two little grease bombs and beat yourself up the rest of the night.  My advise is let it go.  Have a healthy dinner...salad and vegetables.  Walk on the treadmill and think about spring and the nice time you had with your sister.   Count the blessings and tomorrow is another day.

I share your love of Chik fil A, and work to keep myself away.  I know you enjoyed it, though, so I'm with the other posters.  Move on and know you had a great time with your sister.

I had their cookies n cream milkshake half a year ago. My god, if those are in hell, I'm going.
kind of off topic but a few yrs back i got FOOD POISONING at chick-fil-a, and when i read the title of the post i thought it happened to you too haha.

me throwing up for 2 days straight was enough motivation for me not to go there anymore!!
Consider today maintance. Watch what you eat going forward. The next decision today about what to eat is the one that really counts. Winning control is done one decision at a time.
I love chick-fil-a and still eat there a few times a month.  Just steer clear of the milkshakes.  They are like 800 calories.  That's more than the sandwich and fries together.

one of my biggest lessons with this diet is that if i fall of the wagon, it doesnt mean my whole day is down the toilet!! it used to be that if i messed up for lunc, i would just say screw it for the rest of the day.

so you ate too much for lunch. oh well, too bad. nothing you can do about it now. and you certainly cant starve yourself for the rest of the day. so continue on like normal.  don't feel guilty. for 1600 calories, you might as well get some enjoyment out of it!!

I miss chick-Fil-A!!!  I used to live in the south and chick-fil-a was everywhere.  They might even be where I gained my 20lbs in college!!!  It was fast and easy to eat between classes.  Dont feel so bad.  It is sinful and greasy and oh so good.  Just know that one day of eating like that will not kill you and it wont make you gain 5lbs.  Just drink double your 64 oz of water in the next two days and it should be fine.  Really ;)

"my sister guilted me into ordering a Cookies-N-Cream milkshake"

Ultimately, you will never be successful until you realize that you are in control over your own body and mind.  What goes into your mouth is 100% your own decision, and there should be no guilt about food, period.  Life is not a pass or fail test, it's a life-long journey that food is a wonderful part of.

If you want it, eat it.  If you don't want it, don't eat it.  But it's your choice, your body, your life.  No one else's.

mmm chick fil a. I get the grilled sandwich plain with a fruit bowl and a diet soda. so guiltless ;) I'm sorry you had a bad experience. That could have happened anywhere tho. Don't you agree?

I didn't not know about Chik fil A til last year when my husband and I were in Knoxville, TN.  We had lunch there once.... I loved it... I'm glad that there aren't any where we are at the moment.  I'm safe.Innocent

Now, I always get the grilled chicken sandwich with a side salad and ff honey mustard dressing that I distribute between the salad and the sandwich.. it's <500 cals :)

I used to work at Chick fil A... I was 15 and a half and my mindset was.. hey, it's chicken, it's gotta be good, right? I ate soooo many bad meals when I worked there.. fried chicken sandwich with cheese, waffle fries with polynesian or cheese sauce.. omg... and then I'd finished with a brownie (that I'd stick under the bun toaster for a minute) topped with their ice cream... yum.. and I drank sweet tea by the gallon.. luckily I had a pretty speedy metabolism and it didn't affect me as much as it should have... lol...

there is a chick fil a coming in down the street from me.. I can't wait! i ♥ their grilled chicken :) and I know it's real chicken too, I had to trim the fat off the breasts when I worked there.. now I can de-fat a chicken breast in about 2 minutes flat.. lol..

I am addicted to their Chick-n-Minis!  We get them every Saturday morning :)  I get them without butter (a 3-count) and use BBQ sauce, do its only around 315 calories....not too bad for breakfast.

I konw this post is old.. but I just wanted to say that I absolutely love chick fil a. I either get their Chargrilled Chicken Sandwhich (delicious!) which is 260 Cals, and put one pack of their barbeque sauce on it (45 cals). You can get that with a side salad instead of fries, and the side salad is 70 cals (plus I use f/f honey mustard dressing) which is 60 calories for a WHOLE PACK! That's 435 for a "fast food" meal!

Other times, I get their Southwest Chargrilled Chicken Salad (240 cals) and use 2 packets of f/f honey mustard dressing (60*2 = 120 cals), plus I add the spicy tortilla strips in (80 cals), and that's only 440 cals for a "fast food" meal. I could be really good and not put the tortilla strips on AND leave out that extra pack of f/f honey mustard. That's only 300 cals for a very satisfying and filling meal.

I just ate there at lunch with some girlfriends and i got the famous original chicken sandwhich on the wheat bun  with pickles (tasted just as good as the white bun) for 380 cals then got a side salad for 70 cals and used light italian (but only used a little squirt of it for flavor) for 15 cals and stole a waffle fry off a girlfriends plate but didnt count it since i didnt eat the edge of my sandwhich. probably 1/8th of it! all in all fast food under 500 calories, feel full to the brim and happy i was able to go out with girlfriends and be able to eat the staple food and people not look at me funny while i am weighing my broccoli! i would definately do it again!
