Texas Roadhouse

Quote  |  Reply
so longstory short I am in recovery form an ED. I am currently a healthy weight of 120 at 5'5. Not that this is imprtant (only reason i mention it is becasue i just realized i grew an inch between age 18 and 20 hhaahha so happy) anyways. My boyfriend wants to go to the texas road house next tuesday. He is a chief and loves food but becasue of my ED we have gone out to eat maybe 3 times and I always would either split something with him and eat very little or just get a drink. He has been my motivation recovery and i love him with all my heart. I want to order a meal when we go out. I know it would mean the world to him. He even told me today we were going cuz he knows how anxiouse I get about going out to eat. I have been eating well lately around 1500 cals a day. My maid question ( I apologize about the rant) but what is something healthy and low cal there. I couldnt fina anything online. I want to be able to order  somethign i am comfortable with and be able to eat confidantly and normally for one. If anyone could help it would mean alot. thanks!

Sorry about all the typos. I seem to type to fast and never proof read b4 i post!

You can look up your local restaurant menu online using this link: http://www.texasroadhouse.com/menus.php

The chicken caesar salad looks pretty good. They also have shrimp skewers or salmon which would be ok if you ask that they don't put the butter on them? Portobello mushroom chicken sounds delicious as well. They also have a 6oz "Dallas Filet" if you're in the mood for steak!

 Hope this helps!

there's a link to nutrition information for "roadhouse grill", probably about the same as texas roadhouse's food

Hello tryingtobehealthy My husband and I eat at Texas Roadhouse about twice a year. I had gastric bypass about 1 year ago and I love the option on the menu of ordering 3 side dishes. They have the best green beans and baked beans in the world then you could also order either a baked potatoe or a sweet potatoe, without all the toppings of course. Portion sizes are very realistic. The bread is very good but you can just munch on a few peanuts while your  boyfriend enjoys it. I'm sure you'll do fine, and remember, theres nothing wrong with getting a to go box. Good Luck!
thank you all for the help. I checked out the menu and i feel alot more comfortable now. I apreciate all the help.
I know for sides I get the vegetables and always forget to tell then NO BUTTER. They drown them in it. Otherwise they are a great choice for sides. You can even double to veggies if you like. Then I usually get a lean cut steak but I think they have grilled chicken which you might prefer. (I only eat half of the small dallas filet) Texas ROadhouse is one of those places that doesn't give nutritional information. Maybe ask your boyfriend next time if you can go somewhere that you can look up the nutrition information beforehand and prepare yourself. Most people who are concious about eating do this. Here is a great site that gives information.

I used to get their chicken caesar salad.  it is DELICIOUS! however, caesar dressing is horrible for you, so just use a dable of it as they give you about 4tbsp of dressing.  but the chicken on the salad is really good.  really, you may not even need the dressing because they give you so much chicken to flavor up the salad.
Most of us who are on the other end, going downward to the healthy end, have a cheat meal or even a cheat day where we don't count calories.  It's kind of a mental health day if we've been good too long, sometimes we just need to cut loose. Perhaps you could think of it like that?  I know that these days even out and sometimes make up for eating too little on occasion.

Oh-oh-oh! I'm so jealous! Yell *turns green with envy*

My hubby's work took him there and paid and he told me about it - he said the Ribeye is the bomb *DROOL*.

That is SO what I'm gonna get when he takes me there (He has no choice) to celebrate (pending an answer from a job interview).

GAH- I LOVE Ribeye, I could just eat it everyday! *Gives you sad puppy dog eyes*

Well, ENJOY and have fun!

Wink
