30th birthday on July 25th - need to lose 8-12lbs! Anyone want to join?

Hi All --

I used calorie count in Nov-Dec and lost 15 pounds in 6 weeks.  I gained back a few pounds and have 12 to go to reach my goal of 115.  I'm 5'1" and currently weigh 127.  I'd like to get this last 12 pounds off by my 30th birthday, July 25th.

PLEASE join me in weekly weigh ins on Mondays (starting this Monday, June 22nd) all the way up to the big day!  I stay so much more motivated with help & support!!!

I REALLY need suggestions on how everybody stays motivated to workout & stay within calorie budget, too.

  • June 22nd-
  • June 29th-
  • July 6th-
  • July 13th-
  • July 20th-
  • July 25th (the big day!)-

That is a good idea rollayesenia. It does help and makes you feel that it is achievable. I didn't think I would lose this much, or think I wanted to but each time I reach my goal I feel I could lose a bit more. I will stop at 119 tho. You are doing great. It is good to have steady loss as it is easier to keep it off and you are changing your whole lifestyle then, rather than crash dieting. I am hoping to get to my goal weight in about a month, although was a bit naughty this weekend... already and it is only Saturday lunchtime! Ah well. Better be good from now! So yes, I definitely want to stick with the Friday weigh ins. It is really helpful. Take care. Smile

Hey Tuffy, Thanks for the support.  I'm so excited.  (unfortunatly last night a swith went out in my garage causing my freezer to go out and have lots of stuff to cook up).  I so don't need to have lots of food around right now.  I am looking forward to tomorrow though, I do get to treat myself to something yummy on Sundays.  (Like a 1/2 cup of Breyers 1/2 fat ice-cream, I've thinking about it all week).

Till next weigh in....Friday.   Plus my mother lives in Vegas, so I'm thinking of flying into Vegas to visit my family for her Birthday. Yesterday, I was looking at my shoulders and I can see the defenition in them, it really helps to start noticing the muscles.

PMT this week, so at the beginning was weighing in heavy but miraculously have lost... I bought myself a couple of pairs of new jeans yesterday as a reward!! Some really tight ones! They were in an 80% sale so I kind of had to really! Was meant to wait till GW, but it would have been silly and I am daily having to put bigger clothes away!Hope to see some other people today! Did Safety girl have a good birthday? I hope she got to her GW. Good luck guys. Hope you have lost Rollaysenia. It helps to have the mini goals!

Hey everyone, Here's my post.  I achieved a new low on July 28th, 135.4 lbs.  It's that time of the month again for me.  (so, not too bad to be at 136.8).  I'm super exicted though.   Went on a half day camping trip with the kids and had lunch with an old friend.  I will be taking my measurements on Aug.18th. (I measured myself on June 18th, so it will be 60 days, didn't feel like doing it at 30 days, felt like it might discourage me).  I'm still continuing with my circuit training and cardio workouts.

Getting there... not long now thankfully! My husband actually said the other day. You are looking so skinny! It was great. Although obviously I am not skinny, I still have some flabby bits to tone up at the gym, and my legs still touch at the top, but they always have and they always will, but I am happy at this new weight so that is great. I have just under two pounds to go. My daughter says when she cuddles me. Mummy there is just not as much to hug, it's weird! There's nothing there now, you look like one of the people I draw with a smooth shape not a bumpy one! I can't actually believe that I have got this far. I never in a million years thought I could get to nearly 8 and a half stone. I thought it was a physical impossibility at my age and my body wasn't meant to do it! Ha ha I guess that was what I used to tell myself! Wink Hope you have a good weigh in Rollaysenia. Take care

Hey Tufty, thanks for sticking around.  I'm kinda feeling down, as I'm feeling stuck.  Aaarg.  I've just been feeling so hungry and so not able to stick to 1200 cal.  I'm hoping that I'll do better this week coming up.  Any suggestions?  What ever you are doing is working.  I just finished my workout, upgraded to 20lb weights (40lbs total) for squats so perhaps this change will help me this coming up week.

July 31st,-  136.8 lbs.

August 7th,-136.4

Congratulations on your success. That is so sweet of your daughter to say.  You are almost there and that is so amazing, and motivating.  Thanks again for continuing on with me on this journey.

okay so two years ago i lost about 30 lbs and over the course of one year i have gained it all back. Although my routine is fairly healthy.. working out 4-6 days a week for an hour or more and eating healthy foods. I find that the more i deprive myself of "bad" food, the more i crave them. Has anyone been able to find a way to incorporate these into their diet where it does not make you gain an obscene amount of weight. I am health conscious as it is-- pretty much a pesco veg- altough i do have chicken on occasion, and i am a breakfast person. its snacking late at night that usually hurts me most... any advice?

Hi Rollaysenia, Sorry for not replying. Things are so busy at the moment as we have a huge job on, so have not had much time. My daughter has been practicing for a dance for school that was being filmed for a local tv channel which is cute and also training for a taekwondo comp next week. She was complaining of ankle pain, so I whipped her out of taekwondo training for the time being as I felt she was doing too much and am glad I did as her achilles tendon is the problem, so she is in a cast to keep it immobile. It has been a rather fraught week. On top of that my nephew started having seizures last week and is thought to be epileptic, so finding time to go on here has been back of my mind! I have put on a couple of pounds too, as have not been eating properly due to racing around and not noting my calories, so am hoping to get back on track next week. Try not to get disheartened. I have realised that the times I think I know mentally what I am eating, that is when I go over. If I am hungry I really try to drink a lot of water, or snack on a carrot, or some fruit, or make a no fat chick pea paste to dip some raw veg into. Leave it 10 mins or so and then if I am still hungry then I must be hungry. Sometimes you think you are hungry because you are thirsty. I try to drink 4 litres of water a day, but it is very hot here. But the more water you drink the better it is. Sometimes I get sweet cravings, so I have a small biscuit to satisfy that rather than deny myself it altogether.

If you are working out though, you will probably need more than 1200 cals. I am sticking to that as I am not finding time to work out at the moment. Basically I just try to have a deficit of 500 cals at the end of the day, so if I work out I can eat more, but just make sure there is a 500 cal difference. If you let yourself stay hungry, you will make yourself miserable and then you won't be able to stick to it. If you need to snack just make sure they are healthy snacks! Have some ready in the fridge so you don't grab something easier and more calorific!

Take care and good luck.

Adalthof, you have done it once, so you can do it again, but if you are counting your calories, then you can make sure that you have some treats too, but just stick within your daily intake. If you really fancy something 'naughty' then try to balance it with having a healthy soup, or a salad or something for lunch or dinner. You have to be thinking of it as a long term mind change as opposed to just a diet for now, to lose weight and then go back to all the 'bad habits' of before because you have made it to your target so you can eat what you want again. You have to allow yourself treats and try to incorporate those foods that you really feel you would like to have and then you shouldn't crave them so much. As I said to Rollaysenia just now, if you can keep those within your daily budget of calories whilst still eating healthily then you are ok. Why not try having one day a week when you can just have the same intake  of calories as the calories you burn like a treat day, but without going over your burn metre. Then you are still having some goodies and feeling 'naughty' but without the worry of putting on weight. The other 6 days, you can make sure your eat metre is less than your burn metre, and that way you should see some weight loss.

If you feel like snacking late at night go to bed and read! Don't go into the kitchen!! lol! good luck Laughing

Tufty, So sorry to hear about your week.  Hope your daughter and nephew are feeling better.  Must be hard to see someone you care about have seizures.  And, your daughter, yeah, that was alot for her to take on.

Thanks for the encouragement, the last 3 days I decided to eat more than usual and have a treat here and there.  I read  a post from Caloriecount that people talked about what they do when they hit a plateau, so this morning I weighed myself and was at 135.6, even got a reading at 135.4.   I also took off 3 days from working out and started back up yesterday.  I switched to fat free cheddar/mozarella cheese (I didn't know they were out there).

Plus, I just bought a dress online yesterday for my b-day, I think this will be a great motivation.  It was a size "M" (Now, I'm just hoping that when I get it, it fits from my boobs).

Lets keep it going!

July 31st,-  136.8 lbs.

August 7th,-136.4

August 16th,-135.6

Hey there.. weigh day again... back to 120.8 so lost the two pounds I put on last week. I only really want to lose another pound, but I can't do it!!! ARG... Maybe I should say I want to lose 2 to 3 then it will help me to motivate myself as it feels like more, so I need to try harder!? I really want to at least get down to what I said I would. How are you doing.. Wow great idea of buying a new dress. Hope it helps to motivate you.

I think because I am now so near to my goal that I keep thinking oh, I can afford to do a bit of a maintenance diet and then of course that last pound just does not go... I must try harder!
