steamed grated cauliflower works well as a rice substitute. Same goes for grated and steamed cabbage

What about spaghetti? Quite often I make a stir fry but have it with ww spaghetti.

Or why don't you try some other grains? Again with stir frys I have cous cous or quinoa sometimes.

You can eat noodles with your stir fry and perhaps quinoa with your curry.  I also eat sweet potato wedges baked with lime juice and a little olive oil with thai food.  Bulgar wheat and cous cous can also be interesting alternatives to rice.

Check out the Kashi grain products.  There is a 7 grain mix that is high in protein and yummy.

Barley!

I heat a little olive oil, then put a cup of barley in and toast it for a minute or so...then 3 cups of chicken stock, cover and simmer for about 45 minutes.  During that time, adding any spice will make the barley flavorful and quite yummy.  I've found it holds flavor a lot better than rice.

I sometimes make stir fry and have buckwheat as a side instead of rice.
