Tell me what your going to eat that day.
Are you going to count. I want to have some motiviation that day.
I'm not going to count and I'm going to indulge in all the treats... but one rule... I'm going to fill up on fruit and veggies for every meal, and keep myself hydrated with plenty of water throughout the day! I'm also going to help out making some healthy side dishes and lower calorie desserts. :)
im going to have a normal thanksgiving dinner! no counting! turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, the works! just keep my portions under control, and NO LEFTOVERS. lol. my only rule is going to be when it comes to desserts. i've decided, (this goes for xmas too), if i have a dessert (cookie, candy, etc) i can have only one bite of each one that i eat. i think thats a good compromise with myself! last year they were my downfall...
more cookies than i ate all year combined!! damn sweet tooth..lol
I'm going to eat normally. Though it's just my husband and me this year, so there won't be nearly as much food sitting around. I'll just make enough for us and maybe a little left overs. Turkey, mashed tatters, cornbread stuffing, homemade green bean casserole (not using canned mushroom soup), green salad w/ other veggies...
I'm not going to count.
I've decided im going to have though; mom's stuffing (loaded w/ cals), green beans w/ butter/salt/pepper, tofurky or veggie burger on ww bun w/ mustard
Then later im going to have a slice of pumpkin pie, yum! :)
I'm not counting. I'm running a turkey trot that morning so that helps.
I'm going to have turkey, whatever veggie, one roll, and gonna try and limit myself to 1/3 cup of stuffing. I don't really like mashed potatoes or green bean casserole so I don't have to worry about that.
for dessert I'm going to have one slice of pumpkin pie. I'm thinking about making a crustless one and bringing it and having that one.
Whole family decided that we are having deep fried turkey this year, so I have decided not to count and to enjoy every minute of it. I don't think I'll be able to stuff myself with as much as I used to, as I have become accustomed to smaller portions. I think it will be okay.
My favorites that I'm looking forward to are:
Stuffing
Mashed potatoes w/homemade gravy
cranberry sauce (the jelly kind I could eat the whole can)
Brussel sprouts made with lots of butter and bacon
Pumpking pie with cool whip (it's just not thanksgiving w/out it)
I plan on being super good all week in anticipation.
I don't know whether I'm lucky or not:
I won't be eating much because I'm going to my fiance's parents house for Thanksgiving and his mother sticks her fingers and spoons in the food, licks it off, and repeats. Therefore, I stay away from anything she touches. I have no intention of telling my fiance about this cause it's not going to do any good.
I suppose I'll just end up eating secretly before we go and while I'm there I guess I'll eat olives or whatever we make to take over there. ![]()
I'm not counting this year. Last year I did and it sucked because I didn't enjoy the day. I just kept thinking about how many calories each item has. Yuck haha it's supposed to be a fun holiday w/ family. No counting for me! :)
NO COUNTING LOL I love thanksgiving so I am just goign to enjog and make sure to get a workout in the day before and after for sure, It's the one time my family cooks together and I don't want to be thinking about calories just how wonderful everything tastes
I'm counting this year, only because I've been doing really good on my diet thus far and don't wanna screw up now. I am just gonna keep going and stay away from the TG dinner. I will eat my regular counted out meals, drink plenty of H2O and stay away from what everyone else is eating. By the morning (11/28/08), I'll be very proud of myself for sticking with it, and who knows, I may have even dropped another lb. or 2. HAPPY EATINGS!!!
I'm so glad to see that people will be enjoying the day, for thanks and for being with family.
For me, I will be sure to get a little bit more vigorous workout that morning, but otherwise my only restriction will be to stop eating when I'm full. I'm going to indulge in reasonable portions of my favorite dishes, and do my best to not fall into the trap of "I'm so full....but oh, that looks so good...".
I'm going to TRY to eat a somewhat counted meal. I've decided I'm going to have turkey, vegetables (if they don't put butter in them, but my family knows my sister and I are health freaks so usually don't and have the butter on the side.) Maybe some baked sweet potatoes or winter squash. and that will be it for the meal..I totally have to stay away from the baked breads though (buttered rolls, pumpkin bread, and the such.) I go crazy on them.
And for dessert limit myself to one piece of pie which will be either pumpkin or apple. :)
Unless..
I can make jello with fruit cocktail in it with whip cream to top it off..may have that instead...hmm...I'll know once I get there. LMAO.
I won't be doing any counting, but lots of cooking! You know mashed potatoes aren't really that bad for you if you mix them with healthy ingredients. I guess I'm lucky because I'm cooking and everyone can drown them with homemade gravy anyway. Lots of turkey and broccoli casserole (my absolute favorite). No bread, no stuffing and no pie. Perhaps a skinny cow for dessert. Wish me luck!
I plan on treating it like any other day. I am counting and exercising that day as well. I will have the turkey and stuffing but will eat the normal 1200 calories....it just might be in one sitting rather than shared over the whole day.
Not exactly counting (well I'll be watching but if I go over I don't care) but since we're supposed to be with family and 4 of us are in training things will be healthier. If I keep in with portion control I should be better then expected. I'll be running that morning regardless of how things play out and then that sets me up for a good day.
I'm going out for sushi with my family where I will be having a sashimi dinner. haha :)
Then I'm going to the BF's for desert. I'll allow myself a piece of pumpkin pie (my FAVORITE) and a bite of whatever else I want :)
I'm not gonna count, and I'm gonna "treat" myself. but I don't plan on going overboard. probably having turkey, some stuffing, and veggies. but then there will be dessert of course (;
and that depends on what's offered. I'll be at my cousin's this year. and I'm gonna make sure that if I'm eating something it's because I really truly want it, and not just for the sake of stuffing my face. I'll eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm full, and be sure to drink lots of water. I hope it'll be successful, lol.
But then again, I may just end up having to work that day, so in that case I probably won't have Thanksgiving dinner at all. That's what leftovers are for! haha
I will certainly not be counting! Thanksgiving is one day for that you get to just eat until you can't stand it anymore. I'm pretty sure that's what this day was made for!! LOL! Turkey (the darker the better), mashed potatoes, stuffing, brownies, cookies, oh man I'm starting to drool here!!
JT
Mmm....Thanksgiving....my mouth just started watering, haha. I am not going to count on Turkey Day, going to enjoy the best eating day of the year guilt-free! Going to have turkey (I only like the white meat anyway), mashed potatoes made with fat-free milk and Smart Balance butter, Stove Top stuffing, roasted corn, and, the best part....my grandma's homemade gravy!! I actually make it now, but I always use her recipe, because it is the best thing in the world....I seriously could eat a whole bowl with just a spoon, haha. Yummy.....
Then, for dessert, a slice of pumpkin pie with Cool Whip and a pumpkin bar....again, my grandma's recipe....pumpkin spice bars with chocolate chips and an orange buttercream frosting.....they are sinful and delicious!
Can't wait for Thanksgiving! :)
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
