Why do they say not to exercise before you go to bed?

On television, they say that you shouldn't exercise before you go to bed. Why? Isn't it better to exercise even late than not at all? Sometimes that is the only time I can find to ride my stationary bike.

Vigorous exercise stimulates the production of energizing hormones that can interfere with falling and staying asleep; however, not everyone feels those effects, and so if exercise doesn’t stop you from sleeping, then go for it because exercise is essential.  If you do get revved up, take a warm bath, preferably scented with a few drops of lavender.  A bath and lavender are natural relaxants.
