What can a per do if they are gaining wieght back? HELP
I know I lost a lot of weight fast I was down 36 lbs in 8 weeks now I am gaining back weight back last was 8 lbs so far this week 1 lbs.
What can I do to stop this from happening? I am scared I have been doing well and want to keep it going the way.
I can’t do much of exercises due to bad right knee and bad left foot.
Are you still counting calories? Are you still logging them? Need more info: Height, weight, your calorie intake as set by CC. Is your activity level set at sedentary? Do you have a calorie deficit at about 500 per day? I'm sure others will provide better and more through info; but in the mean time you can provide that info and perhaps we can get it straightened out. Don't want to regain that weight that you worked for already. ![]()
Eat less.
Eat better.
Find a new way to work out that is low impact and easy on your body. Can you walk still? Because you could do some light walking...even if you werent going fast, if you took a slow 45 minute walk, it would be better than nothing.
I am still counting calories. Sometimes I don't even go over 1200 lot of lots of fruits and vegetables. I eat tuna and chicken. My weight 327 start and went down to 291 now has gone to 299-300 I am 5.4 activity level set at sedentary
You aren't eating enough. You essentially crash dieted by cutting your calories to 1200 and lost the original weight way too fast. Essentially, your deficit was too high so your body is going into starvation mode--holding on to every little calorie because it thinks you're starving. Use the tools here to determine your burn every day and never eat less than 500-1000 calories less than what you burn in a day.
Cosmo has it right. You are eating too little to sustain your body. IT is in starvation mode. It may take a week or two to get it back on track again depending on your metabolism. I have found the Leslie Sansone Walk away the pounds is an effective dvd to do exercise to if you are confined inside the house because of the weather.
Good Luck! Hope things work its way back off. I am in the same predicament. Now, I am back to logging calories only to find that my Fat content intake today so far is 58%. That sure will cause a gain. So maintain tracking your foods is my best advice. I thought I could go without doing that, but evidently not
Take care and God Bless.
No kidding on the calorie levels being too low. You really short circuit your weight loss when you crash like that... slow and steady is MUCH better.
Calculating BMR for someone at 5'4 and 300 lbs and plugging in an average age (35) since I don't know how old you are it comes up with 2096.3. That means if you were laying in a coma, your body would burn 2096.3 calories in a day. What you are doing is eating about 800 calories per day LESS than your body needs to maintain basic functions.
So you need to eat more! I don't think it's ever wise to eat below your BMR - remember that's what your body uses if you lay in bed all day, of course your daily activity will make a big difference in that, too.

2. Use the resources on CC to determine your diet requirements, exercise needs, etc. All of its information, tools, and programs are tremendous---there are so many you hardly know where to start, so maybe follow the leads when you first click into about.com and go from there. (You are already using some of these resources by asking for help from other users right now!)
2. Find activities/exercise you can do---a five minute walk here, 10-15 minutes there, move, fidget, shuffle your feet, use dumbbells (soup cans) while you watch TV. Put activity into your day in anyway you can.
3. Always include plenty of low calorie, high fiber foods in your diet. Use them in as near their natural state as possible. Guard against eating too much sugar, fats, and perhaps salt.
4. Again, I can't say enough about all the helps you can find on CC. It seems to have about everything. It just takes time to dig it all out. And, by the way, ClaireLaine, the moderator for the Recipes section can help or direct you to help with over- coming starvation mode. She is very knowledgeable.
5. You can get by this. Remember, Winners find a way!
