Do they make reduced fat cake mixes?
I don't think I've ever seen reduced fat cake mixes. I've seen plenty of reduced sugar, and reduced fat brownies, but not cake. Does such a thing exist??
I've only seen the reduced sugar ones as well, but if you use the Diet Pop trick(one can of pop and a cake mix), with the reduced sugar mix, it tastes great, and really, it's stats aren't too bad! I don't make cakes, or even muffin mixes the regular way anymore, my kids prefer it this way.
If you look at the nutrition label for the cake mix itself, it's not high in fat at all. The reason it ends up being an indulgence is because you add 1/4 cup or whatever of oil. If you want to make it low fat, replace the oil with equal amounts unsweetened applesauce (reduces calories too), or the "Diet Pop Cake", which also turn out well.
My favourite cake (and fat free!) is Angel Food Cake!
I top it with light cool whip instead of high sugary icing and it is to die for! Better than "regular" cake if you ask me... light and fluffy and sweet and WAY better on the calories!
you can make your own cake with using apple sauce or pumpkin (canned) to replace the butter. for example:
this makes 2 normal sized muffins (multiply by 4 for 1 loaf); add apple pieces or raisins if u want it more moist

You can actually add one can of diet soda to your cake mix and eliminate all the other ingredients! Recipe is here on CC somewhere - using soda with splenda tastes better than the ones with aspartame! You can get some interesting combinations - using diet orange with a chocolate cake mix - I am not too sure about the cals - way way less on fat that is for sure!! I think it's called Diet Pop Cake....it's been awhile so I can't remember!!
I just feel the need to add, I've made cake with diet soda and it tasted great but you need to be sure to add to the cooking time ( At least I did) because for some reason it was a gooey mess in the middle until I cooked it longer .
Thank u for the recipes! One last question, since i have a hard time with portion control, i could easily eat half a cake by myself... sugar addict!!! if i was to measure out just one serving of the cake mix, how much cola would i need to add to it for a single serving recipe?
OH... and for the recipe, is that one FAMILY sized box mix or the smaller half-sized ones?

personally I think reduced fat brownies doesn't exist either lol. I compared the box this past weekend for a Betty Crocker brownie mix vs Reduced fat Brownie Mix. 20 calorie difference! oh my, a whole 20 calories. I know it can add up if you do this with a bunch of stuff but sometimes people think they can eat more if its reduced fat and really ya only save 20 cals. :)

I make single servings all the time! Take 43g (one serving) of cake mix and mix it with 2 Tbs of diet cola. I mix this in a small dish (ramikin) and microwave on high for 50-55 seconds. Top with a dollop of ff cool whip and enjoy!
