LW:76 pds.

GW:115 pds.

CW: 104 pds.

Gaining: 1 pd. a week.

Realistically: Fluctuating on the same 4 pds. since FOREVER.

I'm a recovering anorexic, with severe stomach issues to complicate matters, and I've been on all-liquid supplements before, when my stomach stopped working altogether.

Been at it since April, an battling those last couple of pounds until I can FORGET about this nightmare (not that everyone would agree eating two pastries a day as a part of your "diet" is so bad... :P)

So share share!! We're open!!

CW: 100

GW: dont really have one yet bc it scares me to think about it but my nutritionist recommends 125

I have been dealing with restrictive eating for about a year. I am obsessed with calorie counting and control over everything that I put in my mouth. Normally I would only eat around 600-800 cals a day. Now I am trying to recover, but it is really hard to hit 1200-1400 and my recommended amount is around 2200.

I want to become healthy and not stress about food as it is the center of my everyday. I miss be normal! Any help through recovery would be great...or just a few thoughts of encouragement. It is really hard to start adding cals when you are so used to restricting them!
Female, 13 years old, 5"1'

Before: 110 lbs.

Current Weight: 80 lbs.

Weight Goal: 87 lbs. (reccommended by my doctor)

Daily Calorie Intake: Started at only 200...I've now worked my way to 15,500 a day.

What I eat: I only "eat clean" which means I'll only eat all-natural and organic foods, or fresh fruits and vegtables. I'm also part-vegertarian, so I make sure to get plenty of protein from nuts, nut butters, beans, soy proteins, egg whites, veggie burgers, and organic protein/nutrition bars; such as Luna, Clif, and Lara Bars. I also eat plenty of natural snacks throughout the day to keep the calories up. Clif Bars are great sources of protein, energy, and healthy, organic calories.

Zebul: Do you actually consume 15,500 calories daily or was that a typo????????????????????????????????????

charlie: how many calories are you consuming daily?

GW: don't really have one yet, probably around 110-115? i need to see how i feel once i get there, you know? i don't know, setting a for sure number makes me pretty nervous; however, i just remembered that once at the doctor i weighed 119 and (though i was wearing heavy clothes at the time) I was feeling pretty fit- any advice/opinions? i don't really have anything/one to reference
story? well, i have a bit of a hard time dealing with stress and uncertainty, so i latch on to things within my control (that's what i've decided through my own psychoanalysis/ a counselor i saw at 12 when my parents were getting divorced for the first time- whole other story, haha). Within the past six months I became obsessed with eating healthily. never counted calories, just cooked more instead of going out, and ate when i felt hungry and stopped when I felt full. result? weight loss, lots of it. from about 150 to my low weight of 100 lbs. My mom took me to the doctor and he told me it might be a good idea to count calories to make sure i get enough. turns out, i was eating somewhere between 400-1000 cals a day, without realizing i was doing myself any damage. since i see myself in the mirror every day, i still don't see that much of a difference. it takes sort of half catching a glimpse out of the corner of my eye to see that i've allowed myself to get THIN. Of course, now that i had been told to count calories, it has become a bit of an obsession in itself (luckily slowly going away, i now estimate more, haha) however, that does not make the weight gain easier. i'm convinced that i do genuinely Want to see the scale go up, however, it's SO difficult in practice.
gaining? slowly... the appointment where my doctor told me to start counting calories was at the very end of august. i've been attempting to increase them ever since.
eating: circa 1700 daily, give or take about 100 (NEVER below 1600, i've been able to get that far at least). however, i think i overestimate the amount of calories in the things i eat... :( i psyche myself up about finally getting to 2000 but then when i look more closely it turns out that i 'accidently' didn't double my serving or something. i'd really like to think that this was subconscious. i'm not sure what my "reccomended" amount would be- i dont have a nutritionist or anything, haven't been diagnosed with ed, although i recognize that my relationship with food/body image is obviously disordered. My doc said in that initial appointment that a girl of my height with a small frame usually needs about 1400-2000, so try to stay on the higher end of that. however, at that appointment i clocked in at a (staggering! joke) 109. recently i was at the obgyn and the scale said 107. however, the numbers that i have been using are in the morning after i use the restroom. i didn't want people to worry about me so before those two doctors appointments i wore heavy clothes, held onto my purse, and had consumed a lot of water. so i'm thinking 2200ish for weight gain? what do you guys think?
sorry, this turned into a bit of a novel, haha. anyway, i wish everyone the best of luck in their goals and i know with certainty that, with a bit of effort, we can  (and will) all be successful in living happier and healthier lives

lol- i'm pretty sure it's a typo guys :P

and speaking of which welcome welcome!!

my first question to all is: methods. who here has a dietition? who decided to do it on their own? are you using Ensure or protien bars? Nuts? Just trying to eat normally and forget about numbers?

is there anything you'd like to share? and for EDers, something possibly not-so-frightening?
LOL! I'm so sorry! That was DEFINATLEY a typo! I eat about 1,550 to 1,800 a day, and am actually gaining some weight now!

And yes, I eat nuts, nut butters, and I don't exactly use "protein bars", but I do eat Luna and Clif Bars quite often, but I don't really think they fit that description. I tried to eat normally and stop counting calories; but then I got too low of intake and had to start counting again to make sure I was getting enough.
Oh, and good luck jessinca!

I used to be in a similar situation to yours; and then I went to visit my doctor again, and suddenley; there was the inspiration! We discovered that I had stopped losing weight and had started maintaining, and at that time I was only eating about 1,250 a day. My doctor told me, to gain, I'd have to eat around 1,500 to 1,600 a day, and it's been working out great! Next time you visit your doctor, ask him for an intake estimate; it will be worth it!
female : 5'3 20 yrs old

lw: 80

cw: not sure im terrified to weigh myself but my jeans fit the same or are a little bigger when i was 80

hw: 140

i am still struggling with eating enough calories. it is very difficult and it is like a cycle i will never be free from. i usually eat 600 or less cals. a day. i mostly eat fruit, veggies, water, and diet drinks. sometimes I will "go all out" and eat a bowl of cereal with fat free milk or get a 200 cal. frap. light cofee from starbucks.
ladies, good for you all! I'm 37 and developed anorexia / bulimia at 19 as a sophomore in college- my lowest weight was 120, which seems high to you all, but i was 5'7" and a very large frame... i wear 11 shoes and have very large wrists, ankles - my bust is 39 & I have negative A cup size!

just it's all relative...

what i wanted to add in here is this-- after 18 years of being anorexic bulimic, it finally caught up with me- - i had 3 teeth rot out from acid - both purging and reflux - i gained 20 lbs in 9 months from the constant anorexia and gain ups & downs... I killed my metabolism...

yo yo dieting and NOT maintaing adequate calories over a lifetime damages your metabolism to a deadly slow pace and leaves you with no choice but to GAIN when you don't want to - even when you eat less than 300 calories a day ... i am stuck right now in having to WORK MY BUTT OFF again & again daily to get my metab moving- i am an exercise & purge anorexic/bulimic, back in full swing of my disorder I estimate as I am in the gym 3-4 hours a day and counting calories...

just work it out NOW and become healthy or later you will pay for ti!

GOOD LUCK LADIES!!! KEEP TRYING!!! CONTROL DOES NOT EQUAL HAPPINESS!

cw: 93? just a shot in the dark here, I havent weighed myself in a while because my scale is broken, i was maintaining before and I havent changed my diet much since then.

gw: not sure yet, i am going to talk to my doctor tomorrow... when they weighed me 3 months ago they said that i needed to gain at least 4kg, but preferably 8kgs.. but we will see..

I eat about 1200-1400cal a day and am slowly working my way up, but it is hard since I have never eaten more then that in years. My weight never dropped drastically enough to be hospitalized or put on an insane refeeding schedual, in fact i am kinda on my own right now so it is challenging. But I always eat 1200cal a day... without guidance by a professional I don't know how much I really should eat, and I dont want to try anything stupid that will make me relaspe...

zebulancherry I am rather shocked that your doctor would recommnend 87lbs for you, that is still waaaay to low, something like 95-105lbs would be much much better... but you are still only 13, so i guess that you are not fully developed, but trust me once you get your boobs and bum you will want to weigh a little more, the boys like it ;)
carmon- i've been in the same situation. they let me leave the hospital early o account of my eating so nicely on my own, but since then it's been a bit of a struggle to GAIN anything (i've been maintaining the same 3 pounds up and down since i got out...)

it's just: I KEEP IMAGINING CALORIES EVERYWHERE!!!! nyone else with this problem??

like with home cooking: ok, so the chicken drumstick is 80 cal... but wait, it's slightly bigger... so say 90? and the sauce it was cooked in... wait- were the onions fried???

ALWAYS. ICH. I just want to be able to pt it into my mouth nd swallow already!!
Female, 5'4, 19 years old

HW - 112lbs

LW - 84lbs

CW - 96lbs

GW - 108lbs at first, hopefully I'll be allowed to maintain there if my periods come back.

I'm a recovering anorexic, I've suffered from it for about 2 and a half years, and recovering since February last year. I got up to 106lbs in May but I relapsed and went back down to 94lbs, so I'm gaining slowly.

I eat between 1600-1700 calories a day to gain, I'm not sure how quick that'll put the weight on, but ideally I'd like to be at my target weight by February-ish.

Good luck to everyone! xx
Male, 5'9, 18 Years old

Weight before dieting- 170 lbs
Weight after crash dieting- 110 lbs
Current Weight- 116 lbs

I'm also recovering from a "anorexic, crash diet" stage, which happened last summer.

Goal: To gain a lot more muscle mass without gaining too much fat. My goal is 20 lbs more of muscle!

I just upped my calorie intake from 900 to about 1600, and I'm proud! :D

However, I still got lot's to work on. The calorie calculator suggests I eat 2300 calories a day. I'm gettin there!
