I've lugged around my Garbage Pail Kids since the 80's!!  I have the entire set AND packs that have never been open.

What have you collected that you would never give up?

My smurf figurines (also from the 80s).

I will never give them up, yet I have no good reason to keep them either.
...yeah, I have no reason to keep my garbage pail kids either, but I JUST CAN'T give them up!

;)

Nothing. My husband and I got rid of most of our possessions about ten years ago to move to the mountains and manage a campground. We love to read mysteries. We had sets of Rex Stout's "Nero Wolfe," Erle Stanley Gardner's "Perry Mason," and John MacDonald's "Travis McGee Mysteries" series, plus many more authors we love. We gave them all away. I still miss them sometimes. But now when I read a book I give it to the public library book shop right away. No more clutter!

I still have my Rainbow Brite doll, I still have my Ton ton (furry kangaroo beast from Star Wars), and I think I still have Snarf from the Thundercats somewhere.

EDIT: Also the original My Little Pony dolls.  I am a lame, lame person.

I'm not a collector of things.

My husband collects.  He has boxes, crates, and albums full of baseball cards.

eta:  He hasn't even looked their direction in the 11 years we've been together.  They just sit and collect dust.

OMG!!!  I totally remember the 'My Little Pony dolls' !!!  I remember having the little barn and accessories for the little guys!!

YAY!

Now that I think about it.... I still have my barbies.  I gave them to my daughter when SHE was into them (she's not anymore) but I wont get rid of them

***edit*** I know what you mean about 'stuff' collecting dust!!!  (my exercise bike's collecting dust my She-ra's and He-men are collecting dust)  I don't wanna get rid of THOSE either  :/

maybe I'm just a pack-rat lookin' for other pack-rats :D

I love my GPK's.....max axe was the bomb!!!...too bad they f'd up the movie.........I still have my MY PET MONSTER......that dude was pimp!!!

Well, I have a teacup collection, but only because I inherited it.  For the memory of my Great Aunt alone I would not give it up - plus they're pretty.

Don't really collect anything else.

I don't have anything I wouldn't be willing to give up.  In fact, 90 percent of this crap can go away.  My husband use to have a huge baseball card collection but it was stolen along with the ceder chest my grandfather made me.  I have moms ceder chest now.

Actually there is something I have that I wouldn't give up.  I have a plaid wool blanket my father brought  home from his trip to edinburgh Scotland and a t-shirt he brought home for my sister who was in K-grade at the time. I also have the baby clothes my children came home from the hospital in. Other than that, I really don't have anything I just have to keep.

I collect bobbins and empty thread spools.  :\

The entire set of He-Man action figures with their original weapons.

My mom made my brother and I sort through everything and put the right figure with the right weapon in labeled plastic bags years ago while we still remembered who went with what.

In theory, it may be worth something someday.

Hmm, it all becomes apparent where my OCD came from...

I don't have any toys from when I was a kid.  I do still have my blanket though.  It is balled up in a box in my closet.  I will be buried with that thing.

Star Wars figurines, certain comic books, coins (old, New Zealand) and signed limited edition books. I also own every Star Wars book ever written (well not really, I don't like any of the ones set around the last 3 movies) but that's not collecting, that's just sad.

And the my little pony reference reminded me of this. MLP collection is serious business.

Lion King stuff, dog figurines, serial killer and vampire stuff, unicorns. I still have a lot of my old stuffed animals.
No toys from my childhood but I inherited my baby box when I was 16.  It had everything; from having a baby cards, to the hospital band that went around my wrist.  Along with feeding instructions and doctors visits.  Also In this box are all my birthday cards up to 18

Lego. Heck if I ever that away. Way too many good memories. :D
